  • Thank you for the clear explanation!

  • @JenniferBruss Thank you for commenting Jennifer! Glad you liked the video.

  • great video very helpful ! :)

  • Great video, Marlene and very helpful. I am about to purchase one of these white balancing tools -- your review helped!

  • @gnowfglins Wardeh, I thought of you when I made this video, really! The brand I bought was called ProMaster - basically a no name brand. Look for it at your favorite photo retailer. I like it because it attaches like a lens cap so it's quick to put on and remove, and you don't have to hold it in place like other tools so your hands are free too.

  • Very interesting. You really know your stuff!

  • @JenetLevyNYC Thank you Jenet. I'm constantly learning new things about digital photography and this was one of those things.

  • Great tutorial Marlene. Thanks for your thorough explanation. Better photos are on the way!

  • @denisesonnenberg Thanks Denise! Let me know if you have any more questions about photo White Balance.

  • Really like your high quality videos, again!:) Evelyn

  • @etelligentstrategies Thanks Evelyn! I try my best to keep the production quality as high as possible. I used a new camera for this one, so I'm quite thrilled with the results.

  • Excellent, clear and easy. Just posted to my Archbould Photography Facebook page so my students can learn from this! Thanks~

  • @ArchbouldPhotography Much appreciated Cathie! Cheers!

  • Ruth great information. I posted on my FB wall. Well explained easy to understand topic: white balance.

  • @mr37212 Thanks for your comment and for sharing! (FYI I'm Marlene)

  • This is very helpful, Marlene. I'd be interested in getting white balance info for video, if that's something you have up your sleeve.

  • @RuthSherman Ruth, the through the lens tools will work for video as long as you're able to set an "in camera" custom white balance. You'd have to hold them in front of the lens (tightly) and point the camera at the light to set your WB. The same way I show in the video above.

You can also use a gray card to set video WB by pointing the camera at the card or target and setting custom WB in camera that way. You camera manual should have detailed instructions on how to do that.

  • Great tip. Thanks so much. Will get one of those expodisc tools. Let's see what I can do with my white balance on my videos.

  • @jackiejart I was a skeptic Jackie and if I hadn't have done this test I wouldn't have believed the results myself! For video I plan to use the shoot through WB tool all the time now. For photos I'll probably stick to the gray cards. Thanks for watching!
