I have never user Opera and I don't plan to. When I was a PC user a few years back when I was 11, I used Firefox, when I got my iMac and MacBook Pro I started to use Safari.

Have to say.. I was, and stil am mighty impressed by the Opera browser. And for those who say that safari is better, easier, simpler, and more powerful - the matter of fact is that Opera 9.6 is faster then Safari 3 and the 10 beta is faster then the Safari 4.. And a lot of "new" features of the new safari 4, is taken from the old opera 9!

no its aint a joke - make tests urselfe - install 5 major browsers and compare loading speed of ur mostly viewed pages - u will see that safari dosnt load them the fastet. pacekeeper test is testing mostly flash and java scripts, not speed of page loading. i made myselfe 2hr test on all that browsers. OPERA stays as the main browser. Safari for games ;) safari is not the fastest and the best - its good and fast only for online flash and java games. just make ur own tests and compare it.

And remember to clear your cache before you do it. If you do you will most likely find Safari is fastest, though YMMV on different systems.

Opera is great though. No question. It's the best compromise between speed and functionality. FF OWNS all other browsers on functionality due to the extensions framework and extensions like Greasemonkey--nothing else even comes close in that regard, but Opera comes closest and is faster than FF.

The Torrent downloader sucks fox balls from peru, the fact that you had opera load the page first gave it bandwidth preference, and therefore made safari suck.....load it in one browser, time it, and then load it on the other, Opera took 13 seconds to load NYTIMES(dot)com for me, and safari only took 6.....I like opera for the features, which safari doesn't have, but safari starts faster, browses faster, is more streamlined and just looks plain cool....

Yeah, it does. If you liked the older look, which was safari 3, just go to the safari download page, and right under where you're supposed to put your email and where it puts the system req for windows, you'll see the link to download safari 3 instead of safari 4...

try opera with facebook; it sucks! not compatible with many apps (e.g. lil green patch). Safari is far more compatible with web pages (not counting IE that is the golden standard). It is quick and stable.
