  • Thanks Melissa for your service!

  • Im in dep right now for the navy and i want to do SEAL in the future, but right now im looking into SWCC/EOD/DIVER/AIRR as my options and heard that while in AIRR when you are not rescuing someone or training you serve as another rating in AW. Is this true? and what is the contract length for AIRR?

  • @Sonny2975 being a navy rescue swimmer is a collateral duty unless you are at a station sar unit or sar instructor job. all AIRR are rated as AWR's or AWS's and your primary job is being a fully qualified helicopter aircrewman in either the H-60R or H-60S helicopter. and im pretty sure the contract length for a special program is 6 years.

  • Im currently a junior in high school and thinking about joining the navy , but im only 5'6 and about 150 lbs , am i to short/skinny to go through physical duties the Navy offers?

  • @misnalgas108 Nope... I know a g uy who's going to bud/s(Navy SEAL training) This march and he's only 5'5 and 120 pounds

  • Sick of the same old crap on the radio? Check me out & my new song : "All is Fair - WAR RESPONSE SONG & VIDEO" Be my fan or tell me why you're not! I NEED You!

  • GOOD JOB DIRTY!

  • Rescue Swimmers are awesome. Couldn't imagen the adrenaline rush

  • I read that being an aviation rescue swimmer for the navy is just a side job or a secondary job, is this true?

  • @Champ0240 yes this is true. being a rescue swimmer is a collateral duty. your primary job is being a fully qualified helicopter aircrewman and doing anti submarine warfare if you are and AWR or fleet support and logistics if you are an AWS.

  • @flyin187 Ok cool thanks..do you know how often they end up doing the rescues since its not their primary job?

  • @Champ0240 great question man. it all depends on where you are stationed. getting rescues is just kinda an chance of fate. we practice all the time. we do pool training and SAR evaluations and SAR jumps at least once a year. but like i said we have so many other jobs that go along with being a fully qualified Aircrewman. i know that the swimmers at Whidbey do a ton of SAR stuff and get a lot of actual rescues. even w/o all the SAR stuff we staill have an awesome job!

  • @flyin187 Ok thankyou for all the information! i think im going to sign up to do this at the end of this month

  • @Champ0240 cool man, good luck to you. if you are on facebook there is a great rescue swimmer page there. alot of people that are candidates for this job and a lot of experienced rescue swimmer there as well to help point you in the right direction! let me know if i can help you out in any way! great career choice!

  • How much money do they earn?

  • We make the same as all enlisted but add flight pay and special duty assignment pay. If you want more money make rank. To total our paychecks it's Base pay + BAH + BAS + Flight Pay + Special Duty Assigment Pay - Taxes = Final Pay paid the 1 st and 15th.

  • @SpyOpz94 im pretty sure you are underqualified. good luck though!

  • @SpyOpz94 so you think passing some easy military written test is what qualifies you to be a sailor?! you prove yourself to be a douchebag more and more with every comment. you will wash out of BUD/s (if you ever make it that far) and eventually you'll wash out of the navy.

  • @SpyOpz94 you still dont understand man. im not questioning your physical ability or how smart you are. it is the way you approach things. i have been doing this military shit for over 17 years and the one thing i see in common with people who drop out of programs is the way they approach things and their attitude. it desnt matter if you can out PT everyone in the navy, all that matters to make it is that you are a GOOD SAILOR FIRST. i hope you understand this soon and adjust accordingly.

  • bravo ;-) ( Belgium )
