This band could be the soundtrack to urban unrest. I envision Jasmine Revolutions everywhere because people are just pissed. Lets everyone get in the way of all authority. Slow them down, become their hinderance.
And I mean all of this as a compliment. Really. I do. This song sounds great.

I live these people and State Radio. I wanna see one of these two bands on concert but i've never been to a "real" concert before and i dont know how they work or how its like. To be honest, im kinda scared. On top of that im only 17. Is that normal?
That was really fantastic. I didn't realize, until I played four of these, how many singers the group had. But this song, especially, really got me moving.
hahahahah those headphones are amazing, for 100, they sound like they are worth twice that. the best noise canceling headphones in this price range, put them on and you can hardly hear the person next to you with no sound going through the headphones
These guys are amazing. One of the best shows I saw last year. I saw them the day after I saw Gayngs and the day before the Annuals and they were by far the most memorable.
Could he sing any more like Damon Albarn??? Do love this song though, just first time I heard it wasn't sure if Blur just put something out. This song does kick ass, don't get me wrong.
Wait,,,did a guy comment that they had disaffected political lyrics!?!? Are you listening to them at all? Menomena is more of an art band in the vein of radiohead than just another indie band - they are just foot to the floor brilliant and talented.
ohfoolishworkerbee, you're kidding, right? change-ups, goofy time signatures, and crowding instruments is what these times are all about. hell, the Beatles did the same thing. i admit that the drummer here is really tight, though.
my major gripe with indie music is that 1) it's all about the marginalia of life, without adding insight aside from bland observation and 2) these bands seem like they're in a race to be in the next iPod commercial. its like the final days of big hair bands, man.
@tincan77 Listen...these guys are the most original, genius bands of their time. I make no jokes or say this lightly. Can we help it if Apple and other companies want to actually use talented musicians in their adds lately? I just discovered Angus and Julia Stone from a commercial and they are phenomenal.
Make no mistake. Menomena are not a flash-in-the-pants band. Take a look at their albums. Listen to each at least 3 times and if you are not a disciple, then there is no hope for U.S.A
Seriously - what other band sounds REMOTELY like this? The change-ups, the bizzarre time signatures, the juxtaposition of different instruments and the three different singers who can actually PLAY those instruments? the entire indie rock spectrum has been ruined by lo-fi myspace buzzbands or corporate stadium-rock shit.
If you don't like it, hey that's cool, but calling them unoriginal is completely baseless.
@ohfoolishworkerbee I think (nay I know) I hear bits of The Who from the mid-70s, mostly in the drums and some of the phrasing. It's an excellent song no matter what its origins. Nobody pulls the great music straight out of their *ss. They all stand on the shoulders of giants. This is a great song. I can hardly wait to see this live.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
no offense to these guys, but they kind of sound like every other "indie" band out there to me. this song is a bit more aggressive, but otherwise just the same old form: bad high pitched singing, over instrumentalization, disaffected and apolitical lyrics, etc. but i grew up on grunge, so i'm biased...
