Sittin at my buddies house smokin a fattie, and we had the stereo on,and the DJ comes on and sez here's a new one from a group calling themselves Jo Jo Gunn. Another great 70s tune. Thank God I was born on the middle 50s.
I was 10 years old when this was out and saw them preform this live at the auditoreum in lincoln nebraska thay totaly kicked ass that night what a show.
Old hippie here. My son is named Joe and one of his nicknames since birth has been Jo Jo Gunne. All I remember was coming across an album of theirs in a head shop/record store. I had no idea until just now, 35+ years later, that "Run, Run, Run" was theirs. More of a shock, I had no idea that two guys from Spirit formed Jo Jo Gunne. I was a huge Spirit fan.
By the way, "Run, Run, Run" is as good to listen to now as it was then even without the buzz!
Got to agree with 1973teledeluxe 's comments ..and most others' comments here. The Slide's a killer! Last time I heard a similar hot bottleneck was guy playing for Foghat around Oct. 7-10, 2007. Foghat was backing up Steppenwolf (Well, John Kay & Steppenwolf) when S-wolf was on their farewell tour. Don't know who he was..but when they played "Slow Ride" -thought (for about 12 mins) I'd died/ gone to heaven. Any idea who he was? Believe he was not lead guitarist @ Muncie, IN (05/06?) Cityfest
This was my first concert.Jo Jo Gunne opened for Humble Pie.Gunne kicked Pie's ass in my opnion- Pie was sounding tired by that time, doing medleys of virtually all of thier material.Must have scarred me for life-to this day I can't stand medleys...
Mark Andes currently plays with Ian McLagan and the Bump Band, Alejandro Escovedo, Jo Carol Pierce, and Three Balls of Fire. He very briefly played in a band called MPTU with drummer Pat Mastelotto (King Crimson, Mr. Mister), singer Malford Milligan and Phil Brown (Little Feat). Andes now lives in Magnolia, Texas with his wife Valerie and released his first solo album, Real World Magic, in February 2009.
