  • hi...do you have to have a flame? would a very hot iron work?

  • @treatdreams123

I wouldn't use an iron because the fabric will stick to it and gunk up your iron. Either use a flame or as some people suggested an incense stick or a heat gun.

  • Hi Bethany, Very nice tutorial.. thanks for sharing this video.. An easier way to melt the edges is to use an incense sticks. Light the stick where the paste of incense mixture is and turn off the flame, then you can see red hot end and you can use this end to melt the fabric. I used this technique to seal the edges of the fabric.. so I am sure this will help too..

    Thanks,

    Lakshmi.

  • Love your videos , very simple and thorough . You seem to answer every question as i am thinking it almost as though you are reading my mind . Thank you

  • I am making one as I watch you. You really have to be patient with the flame and the distance of the flame is very important.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful idea.

  • Hi Bethany, I really enjoyed your videos! I was wondering how long it takes per flower?

  • @Kaitp1990

I'm not sure. I'm terrible at keeping track of time! It depends on how many layers and the size. I would guess about 20 min for a big flower like I made for the video. That would include cutting and melting. However, if you do them assembly line style, they will be faster.

  • @BethanyKartchner Thank you for the reply :) Your flowers are beautiful and I can't wait to try to make them!!

  • You are so through...thank you.

  • thanks so much fro the tutorial!! very gorgeous!

  • thanks !! i'm going to try this technique out right away !!

  • Thank you so much for showing how to do this kind of flower.

  • Lovely flower just a small comment regarding saving fingers from the heat and working with smaller sizes, I have used tweezers and similar long nose forceps for years and am very pleased with the results. Thank you for sharing.

  • If you use a heat gun you will not get the black burned tips on the peddles, And... if you use the big shot you dont have to cut nothing out. It does all the work. You can assemble it all, unburned, then use the heat gun on it and you will get the same look.
