  • Belgian music is actually damn good. Check out Sharko "Rise Up".

  • The original with higher quality: watch?v=R56TQw6onto

    And the live version:watch?v=ZzTgYTqcFWI

  • I'm completely sure they don't have the success that they worth. They are the best band to me. Have they ever been in Barelona. I hope they come here in the future.

  • I like this woman and the way she sing this song

  • What happened to the video quality? =(

  • @SteveDestiny37 It's killing me too.

  • music is UNIVERSAL, stop hanging flags to it, please. I love Hooverphonic regardless their nationality. Cheers!

  • this song and sweet music are a few of my favorite songs from this greatly under rated band

  • Great album, the story of jackie Cane is very depressing

  • Awesome! And love that fab Walker Brother's sample! Right on!

  • Belgium rules!!!!

  • The music of this song is the same of "Therapy for pain" by Fear Factory (1995)

  • Check out The Walker Brothers - Young Man Cried

  • @arloted pwned!!! :)

  • @arloted "Young Man Cried" is one of my favorite Walker Brothers songs! A classic!

  • I don't like the video clip...

  • Wow she's not in a bottle!

AND she has a real human's size!!

  • @JoannaAlwaysAnd4eva no! the entire street is in a bottle

  • I kept expecting roger moore to appear in the background, very bond like - very good song!! reminds me a little of unfinished symphany as well.

  • We are perfect victims here huddle together in the cold brother and sister...

  • @bigbigman3

Absolutly ! Sometimes we've got to sing this song !" ;-)

  • It's a pity that the camera scans the ugliest buildings in Brussels for the last 10 seconds of the video (maybe they're intended as a metaphor for 'singing out of key', who knows? - particularly as the opening takes places at the beautiful Hotel Metropole.

  • Hooverphonic have a great knack for making a sound that belongs to another era contemporary. The chorus of this sounds like a 1960s arrangement with lush orchestration (listen to Down Town by Petula Clark) and is full of drama and has an epic quality yet it's a modern pop song. Brilliant!

  • The chorus music is actually taken directly from the Walker Brothers song called "Young Man Cried" written by the great Scott Walker (Engel) and John Franz. Take a listen to the original. It is quite brilliant, too!!

  • I see what you mean: the opening instrumental part is the same although the melody is then different. It is presumably just on the legal side of copyright infringement or there would have been an action as in the case of The Verve vs the Roling Stones re Bitter Sweet Symphony.

  • ZALIG lieke !! echt spijtig da ze de groep verlaat :(

  • belgium rock's

so sad she left the band

  • Academy music to me!

  • gooooood

  • che figlila.......che bellacanzone

  • This song sampled 'Young Man Cried' by the Walker Brothers.

  • awesome!! ♥

  • is she the same singer?

    she sings MAD ABOUT YOU

    please answer me

  • yes dude

  • Yup she is.

    Belgium group.

That's why i love my country xD.

  • You Belgiums have great tennis players as well... and I like that song really much...

  • i have seen them in Greece live, back in 2000, in EXO CLUB.They were singing for an hour or so and then they had drinks with all the folks of the club.Very very very friendly and ofcourse gifted folks.

  • Yes, it's the same singer.

  • This track has one of the best instrumentation i've heard. Could be a Phil Spector track -_-

  • I wish I could live in Europe. I think I was born in the wrong place.

  • And I'm pretty sure that the most of the Europeans had and still have the same thoughts....and the result was America.....

  • You wish :) Most Europeans who moved to the US in modern times came from the eastern countries, you know, (former-)Soviet countries. The western ones have had it pretty good for a long time, and we get more than enough immigrants from all over the world ourselves.

  • I see you're from Bulgaria, so yes, you probably would want to leave your country :)

  • i wish i could come to US man..this propaganda about us is increasing the interest..but europe is awsome as well!

  • I'm always really impressed when I stop to consider that groups like Hooverphonic are writing lyrics not in their own language...ABBA also wrote really good lyrics in English.

Can anyone name me a Brit or American band that can write good lyrics in French, Dutch or Swedish (or any foreign language, for that matter?) ;-)

  • Ya, they actually have great lyrics too, way better than most Brit/American bands.

I could name a few artists that use latin, but that's a completely different thing, because no one will notice if a latin lyric makes absolutely no sense anyways.

  • placebo

  • Love the video - reminds me of when I lived in Brussels and went for drinks at the Metropole!!

  • dat is toch wel toffe music!

  • well done!

  • I love this song! I usually turn it up when I have to be in my suit while driving to the office or a customer in my BMW. In my opinion, Hollywood should've used this as a opening song on any one of the latest James Bond movies.

  • we didnt want to know bout ya going to work Lol...but ya right bout james bond movies...James bond was produced in Hollywood?

  • Moi aussi ! ^^

  • Do you go realize they're from Belgium and that they're not from America ! ? ^^

  • Hell yeah and thats why i'm proud to be Belgian ^^

  • oh yeah !!!

  • amen to that brother

  • @Carnibald My kind of Belgians. ;o)

  • @Carnibald It's one of the reasons why I like them. Enough with bs mainstream "music" from US.

  • @Carnibald Of course. Good bands don't come from America anymore. :P This is coming from an American too.

  • @DrFlaxWebFLOO I agree with you to a point. American music has fell way behind compared to bands like Hooverphonic, and I don't listen to much new music, but several fab American bands that I like that have been around for a couple of years are or fairly new are Beach House & Best Coast, and and the Australian band Tame Impala. None of these are anything like Hooverphonic, but awesome in their own way!

  • @nostalgiahistoria67 I think the problem is that the American music has become too corporate. There's no soul or meaning behind it. I'll have to check out the bands you've mentioned, it gives me hope for American musicians. There are lots of bands in the underground scene that are great, but because of their content might never see success.

  • Beautiful musics, =)

very uplifting, inspirational and motivational ~_~

  • This song sounds like it would be in a musical.

  • Good song.

  • el video se parece mucho a THE VERVE CRUEL INTENTIONS.

  • and it takes a dutchman to leave a comment like that...

    tg is belgie toppie :p

  • I'm from Spain but they play very well. I love their songs

  • lol what that have to do with being spanish?? how stupid.

  • I saw them yesterday in Belgium! it was awesome!

  • go Belgium!! saw them live, they're awesome!!

  • the quality is terrible..

but the song is great :-)

  • Awesome.. been looking for this song for about a year now.. XD

  • Ok

I gotta tell everyone who doesn't know that.

This band is Belgian(Iused to live in belgium)

  • does it really matter? it's about the music, not the country (i'm belgian too fyi ;))

  • Except for beer !!!

  • that kind of depends on the people's ignorance... plenty of great stuff coming out of this country.

  • espcially when it comes to music..

hint: check out the channel of 'belgianmusic'.

  • ESPECIALLY

  • just goes to show what you know.. ;)

  • it's so fresh and beautiful. I'm lovin it!

  • yeSSSS this song helps me to feel happy yeahhhh

  • it's the graetest song i ever hear

  • belgium!!!!

  • I love this band ,this song, it's so alive, meaningful and powerful. Thanks.
