It most certainly was a tornadoe! It was precisely the one that left a path of destruction thru the pleasant ridge subdivion and across 385. It was clearly visible In Northeast Bartlett near Lakeland at the very time it came thru.

That's exactly what I saw, Lori! I've seen the residuals of one Tornado in 1982, & didn't know what it was though I took a Wash Basin & left it out to catch the Hail. Now, the Northridge Earthquake was another Story. I now know what PTSS Feels like. I was on duty @ Northridge Hospital, {Still work there,} when it hit. Here in Southers Ca, "We get Shaken much more than Blown."

i was going to memphis to see my cousins and the radio was interrupted and they said theres a tornado on the ground my mom and i were like holy shit where is it...it was like bad weather but we couldnt see...then it just pops out...i almost peed my pants...but it was awesome!

it missed us by like a killometer!

I used to live in Memphis. Frankly, if it were my first tornado, I'd be just as excited, if not more excited at the site to see Mother Nature's fury first hand.

omg that tornado was scary as hell. i was looking out my kitchen window and saw it hit the ground. i was so scared for my 4 month old son. i ran and put him in the bathtub with blankets and i just kept praying it wouldnt hit our house. luckily it only hit the ground for a second and then went away.

I'm glad you think it's funny and "awesome" that the Tornado is "so cool" Yeah, it's really cool that over 50 people died from that storm and others lost their jobs, homes due to the destructions.

I don't know what to think about storm chasers.

This isn't a chaser - it's some guys in their backyard, as evidenced by one of them getting his dad.

Practically every chaser is trained by the government to detect and report these storms as a public service, and their efforts to spot what radars cannot, in part saved many more lives than were unfortunately lost.

Many chasers are also first on the scene when a tornado strikes - helping victims even at risk to their own lives. We only cheer at tornadoes far away from homes-never this.

yea a tornado was about 5 or 6 hundred yard from my house. messed up the elemntary school here in Mercer co ky. pretty sure it was just an f1 because main damage was just trees and power lines down and roofs blown off houses.. there were alot more down town including a brick wall collapsing on a historical building. 2-05-08 was indeed a very dramatic and deadly day.
