One of the illest M.C.s' there have ever been. I've been a fan since the "Bazooka Tooth" days. Def Jux is a roster of REAL LYRICISTS! I believe Aesop is in the situation i was in as a kid. I couldn't see GOD because of the wickedness around me, & i didn't think i would see 15! devil-worship in the industry made me stop flowin' in the 90's. runnin' ciphers w/ Tony Da Skitzo, & such. If he FOCUS on the TRUE SAVIOR & HEAVENLY FATHER instead of man, he'll be kool! Story of my life! JIGGS UP!!!
I think the lyrics are wrong. there are more plausible lyrics out there(esp. the chorus), have a gander: I wanna be a big bang, gotta be. Never bottle me up in a probably, I wanna see a 'Yes sir,' sir. Yes sir! Thorn with a torn core, sore to the bone; Warn the other brothers I was born forlorn. Big bang. Shoveling a big dig, huddle in a tunnel of big dreams, I think big things. I'ma burn with this little light of mine and a prime concern to earn thanks. I'ma be a big bang. *repeat*
@UserNameManh the lyrics are always gonna be interpreted differently from people cuz of their experience if it sparks your interest and advancement as a human it can truly make you a better person
and idk what im sayin to 100% but u might get it and i agree with you because you have to get into the persona of the lyricist
@UserNameManh You should buy the Fast Cars EP. It comes with a booklet containing the lyrics from the "Float," "Labor Days," "Daylight," "Bazooka Tooth," of course the "Fast Cars, Danger, Fire and Knives" albums.
It's a spectacular read and it's great knowing what the hell Aesop is trying to say.
@UserNameManh thank you i just wanna find some insight ito what these fucking lyrics might actually be talking about subjectively or not but im not gonna act like i understand this song one bit
so im going to keep searching google for a good descussion
i made a youtube account just to post my 2 (c)[s]en(t)s[e] about how unique and brilliant this man is. he crams his raps FULL of relevant beautifullness. this song has been around for a while, and only a little over 24.5k views? that hurts my psyche... (cheers to all those drinkin Jameson and rockin Aes late night)
"I don't really believe in god, but god, I'm scared of death to god, I swear to god I never meant to spill the beans nor tear the pod." Ace is so good at what he does.
@Erolina1 Check yourself now, while there has been a ton of good underground mc's since the 90's, there are also plenty of talented underground black mc's I like aesop's complexity and layering that gives him a long shelf life, mf doom is black and does the same thing, but aes is better for my money, but I havent heard all mf dooms songs though. Reef the lost cause, joell ortiz, and crooked I all have amazing moments, especially joell
@bigjohnweh sorry i clicked the wrong name to reply, this was directed at the jizzbucket below me that said it's a fact white people rap better nowadays
And it's not really that hard to understand. At all, really. Read the lyrics, there are topic sentences, and then he encases them with some masterful extended metaphors. Well, most of the time. There are times where I question his word choice, but the idea of the song aint really hard to grasp.
part of aesop's scheme is to make you think. that is the beauty of aes, its not just catchy hooks that stick in your mind from the radio play. Lyrics with meaning.
I think this songs about going through life wanting to have a big impact "big bang". He puts his life into being popular in society or fitting in and goes a little apeshit in the process. Aesop throws adjectives around like no other, fuckin genius.
I was positive the song was about despair and how he strives to make a difference in the world, hence his allusion to decadence and his reference to the death of God (Nietzche concept).

I rock ready aim fire, while y'all rock ready fire aim
Then blame the stationary target when the prey escapes the frame
Merit badge marksman, a poacher, it's all the same
So I lay across the woods perpendicular to the grain
