It's a TOW missile. The TOW was designed to be fired from vehicles, not from a stand like in Battlefield 2. Saddam's two sons were killed in a huge firefight ending with a Humvee decimating the place they were in with a TOW missile. Humvees are usually mounted with a 50-cal machine gun, but can be mounted with just about anything from a TOW to an automatic grenade launcher.

Thing is though a good tank crew would spot the launch, would just have about enough time to swing the turret round and kill the humvee before they get blown away by the javelin.

Shoulder mounted launches are much less easy to spot.

Unf00g has it right; this is a LOSAT. The project has since been cancelled, replaced by C-KEM (Compact - Kinetic Energy Munition), and last I checked THAT one is cancelled as well.

In regards to ELITEZxSnlpErZ; Javelin actually DOES have two modes: Plunging and Direct Attack. In most cases it's used in the Plunging/Top-Attack setting, but Direct also is available when you have targets with overhead cover or bunkers where you are aiming for the firing slits.

Actually a unit was assigned to the 101st airmobile division, but the military decided it didn't need it. It was meant only for low rate production. The one in this video is indeed a TOW, which is also American and equally effective.
