$450 bucks to replace a hard drive? hahahah take me less than a minute to replace a hard drive and about 45 min. to replace the operating system depending on the speed of the PC. i charge 40$.
I also worked at the geek squad for a while and as a competent tech working at geek squad the "approved tools" list of software is beyond piss poor. The only good software we used was pc-check. Every thing else was webroot shitware.

BUT the most recent and the last was when i got my grandfather an imac. After TWO days they FINALLY put damn iword on there. Never will i go to bestbuy again.

Ever heard of economy issues? I'm A+ certified, Net+ certified, MCP, and I've got a Diploma from a vocational college, NOTHING. NO GOOD JOB! Geek Squad is where I ended up for right now, I'll admit that some of them know jack shit, but 75% of them are really awesome guys, and they are smart as fuck.

The problem is that they aren't paid enough to give a shit, and the hiring sucks. They think if someone is nerdy looking or has an A+ cert...it means they know what they are doing. They don't. btw Geek Squad pays like 10 bucks and hr.
p.s. - Best Buy is a RETAIL STORE. They are ALL ABOUT PROFITS. Hence the ridiculous prices of Geek Squad services, and their fascist disclaimer you sign off on. I was a "good" tech while at geek squad, and got SHIT on by management. "Your #'s are not up, bring up your sales of services". Cost to time, reformatting brings in more profit. Taking your time to troubleshoot a machine is wasteful in terms of profits...and Best Buy wants profits.
Then you should work there lol, and tbh not every agent is stupid or illiterate, but i'll be honest, 50% of the agents I work with are fucking twats and know jack shit other then how to run pc-check and reformat a drive, thats it. But I'm seriously starting to agree with you guys, at first it seemed great, they fed me a load of bullshit, I got fucking yelled at because I tried to help someone for a few minutes with a simple fix of an IE issue, SELL SERVICES THATS YOUR JOB!
