This is my absolute favorite album of all time. Incredibly relaxing and mind blowing. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else is similar to this? Other KLF stuff does not compare, although I am yet to listen to their "Space album" which might be fairly similar.
@deejayalemus I'm saving that for some time special. But anything else that you can suggest? It doesn't have to be the KLF. I have most of their stuff anyway, most of which is not the same as the Chillout Mix. But I love the whole peaceful ambiance thing like this.
You don't know anything about Pink Floyd, do ya? Pink Floyd influenced more bands. They were better musicians and have a great historical meaning. They are one of only few bands who had great commercial success without playing commercial music. There are not so many bands which are better or as good as Pink Floyd....But still it doesn't mean, that this KLF-album is unimportant...
I think I remember hearing the preacher that was sampled on this track. He would be on the air very late at night and would WAIL like a jazz musician with the Gospel! I remembered he'd use the phrase "runnin' like a fat rat". I wish I could remember his name.
listen to that vinyl crackle - I still only have this on tape - my friend had it on black vinyl - it still sounds fab - way better than digital and I don't know why!!
Yes this track is fantastic. Takes me back to all those feelings. Amazing how music can do that. This track is a time machine to a hologram of a memory of a beautiful time in my life. Everything was and is so connected....... I know you feel it at 3.00 minutes....and then again at 3.41 and 4.52 ahhhhhh so clean at 6.16
This Album was our anthem of 1990, after we had been to all raves and our ears couldn't take music anymore we'd put on KLF chillout and play it over and over again.
Without doubt he greatest post party album ever made.
Its sad i sold my vinyl version on Ebay some years back, i originally bought KLF chillout along with KLF space (both vinyl) from Austin records in Middlesbrough brand new for £5 each, those were the days when music was exciting.
Always under the radar,, this album, simply came into it all,, and many was the early hours lost to the smoky madness of it all,,,, Jesus, so far ahead of its time, brave and innovative, future vision,,,respect.
evad520 its also called 'chill out' though. i have a compilation called 'ambient nights 2 ' or something, and its called 'chill out' on that. also 'wichita linesman is a song i once heard' is about a minute shorter than this and takes longer before the beats kick in. don't get me wrong its almost the same song but they are different.
KLF last train to trancentral on the chart show itv was what got me going then i was hooked i gotta admit it sounds dated now haHA if u aint heard altern8 or Acen i recomend u have a listen! Acen defo rocks!!!! P.S Johnny.L-Sawtooth!!!!!
The opening chords on this tune rip me to shreds ... just the right sound - right between the shoulder blades ... tingle stuff....I could listen to that sample for days on end
I think this track is called "the last train to transcentral pure trance mix???
Amazing toon really gets your emotions stirring, early acid house dayz, agreed way ahead of its time, pity more stuff like this wasnt made and we cant go back in time to do it all again! Peace out :D
Wow. KLF are cool, but there's no reason to be down on Floyd. They were a great band. Is there any reason why you can't like both? Expand your minds...
dug it then..like it tonite...must bee that french cigarette i smoked ten minutes ago.....what?? im not a druggie its just that its rainin....and and dont tell mi mum......now piss off..
Yes, The KLF were influential. And it's interessting to see you saying this.

the fantastic 90's maybe because i was 15 yrs younger but i think the world, the music, the people even the drugs were much better than today's fake crap
Trancentral was the name of the KLF's recording studio in Stockwell. In fact it was the Jimmy Cauty's squat ! You can found more information about these facts with wikipedia or in one of 1991's Melody Maker .
I tell you what about these early rave pioneers - they certainly knew how to create an ATMOSPHERE. Very simple music, nothing to it really...but it hits the emotional part of your brain like nothing else. It's not just this early 90's stuff, some of the anthemic Ibiza stuff up till the late 90's was made of the same emotional stuff. I have to say the rave scene knocks the socks off 60's psychedelia. I say WE WON!
I got the most uncontrollable rush up my back as soon as the melody started...this tune is BURNED in my mind in the same place as the drugs were, lol! Amazing how such a simple auditory cue can actually bring the physical sensation of ecstasy back. Wow.
1991 I first heard this laid out on a beach in KO Samui THAILAN out my head on a magic mushroom omelet from CHARLIES HUTS back then life was a dream no tomorrow and not full of pretensius wanna be a hippy rich kids playing with ma&pa money like it is now in Thailand and Goa kids of today Ive shit:EM

when i was 14 i first heard 'dark side of the moon' and thought my search for the perfect music was over, then chill out came along...absolutely sublime, i feel sorry for people who have not heard it.
i thought that quest was over for me probably a million times, but something better always comes up, because music changes and so do we. there's no such thing as a perfect music, at least in a timeless form :)
this album is timeless masterpiece it sounds as brilliant now as when I brought it on vinyl in 1990 and I now have the album on my mp3 player the vinyl album is worth a fortune now
ohhhhh god this is perfect

agreed it set the standard,
It defined true post club chillout as a genre rather than a substance detox state.
The style was hotly followed about 6 years later with Sasha and Digweed's Northern Exposure series, pretty much up there as a peer to this.
From thence the "chillout" genres and the "Progressive House" genres were repectively born
if you canb get your copies of any of these now get them , they are all rare and will be lost forever

I have to agree, this is the best of the KLF. It is haunting and familiar, even if you are hearing it for the first time.

when i was 14 i first heard 'dark side of the moon' and thought my search for the perfect music was over, then chill out came along...absolutely sublime, i feel sorry for people who have not heard it.

i thought that quest was over for me probably a million times, but something better always comes up, because music changes and so do we. there's no such thing as a perfect music, at least in a timeless form :)

this album is timeless masterpiece it sounds as brilliant now as when I brought it on vinyl in 1990 and I now have the album on my mp3 player the vinyl album is worth a fortune now

I remember this as THE album to 'come down' to. First heard it backpacking in OZ 1990. It was always on back home after clubbing. Happy Days!! :)

THIS WAS THE SOUND THAT PUT IT ALL BACK TOGETHER FOR ME...such an ecclectic time for music.
