@marcusrob02 I am surprised Scritti did not sue them, I mean Huey Lewis sued Ray Parker Jr. for playgerism (sic) "I want a new Drug" and "ghostbusters" but then "I want a new drug: sounds similar to Steppenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride" they (Steppenwolf) could of sued but they did not.

No, it isn't stolen; the music was written by Keith Thomas (a big-time music producer, such as David Foster and others).
While the synthesizer work is very similar what is heard in Scritti Politti's "Perfect Way", the rhythm patterns and chord structure are different; so are the synthesizer sounds.
Even today, you'll notice that music adheres to certain styles of the era in which it is created, and this is a good example of that.
