When I used to hear ABM's technique praised I thought it was all about his mechanism, the way he can play the glisses toward the beginning of Reflets Dans l'Eau as effortlessly as if he were playing Chopsticks. The videos here make me realize that's it's the way he strikes each key in order to achieve just the right legato, the perfect color—in conjunction with his flawless pedaling. No wonder his repertoire was small. He was a formalist, a perfectionist, but what he did play he absolutely owned
Awfully wrong. This was originally written by Beethoven and was copied in the movie because producers could not compose any original music on their own.
@OriginalBasaliskos I was commenting on someone else who asked which movie is this from.
I was talking about style of music, more over beethoven didn't live ""well"" over 1800 he died 27 years into the 1800's.
the person who asked didn't know who Beethoven was and though this was a movie soundtrack. read into the comments, u'll find it. I don't know why u tube didn't post the ""@ (someone)" mark.
Beethoven is a genious. For as much as I love classical music, I'm ashamed to say the first time I heard this piece was in the movie "Joshua", which is a creepy movie, but this piece is instant love for anyone whose a classical fan of minor pieces.
a masterpiece, this third movement of this sonata,a rythmic design of obsessive monotony, given a fragile hope at the end, long live ludwig van,and an excellent michellangelli

how can this piece be from any movie?
composer..hello...1700-1800!

@Mkamalid He lived well beyond 1800. And that doesn't mean they can't put the piece in a movie now.

Among Beethoven's sonatas, did Michelangeli only record number 3, 11, 12 and 32(which I didn't find here on youtube)?
