  • I just listened to my 45 with the soul brothers six....and after the 45 was all over with....i said to myself......i have to find that girl that does that song that i saw a little bit ago ...and i found her :o)

  • @pirrung123 Lol thanks again! :)

  • You got soul girl :o)

  • @pirrung123 Aww thanks! I kind of cringe relistening to it now because I could have done so much better. :D Still think it is an amazing song and would love to do it live with my band one day but dirty it up, a bit like the original though. xB

  • Thanks. I thought it was lovely.

  • Love this song Brigid but am afraid I have to agree with Crystal, sorry. You can do so much better, maybe cos your in the studio. Have a listen to Buddy Guy's version if you can, that's when I first heard it, now it's my shower song. Lovin' what you're doin' with Doc Rodent. Peace, Charlie.

  • @Chassarmario That is our study. ;)

  • Sounds alright! But you need to show more feelings in your voice! I love singing this song, but it sounds like you don't really. Anyways I covered this song on my channel, Let me know how it sounds. Thanks!

  • Love your style. Really good!!

  • It's really good! Girl, go for it! You sound amazing but to me you seem like your holding back some! Give it all you got! You got a career ahead of you!

  • Lol yeah, you are right. I am not a very open person and doing this for performance instead of just behind closed doors is still a big deal to me. This song means a lot to me but Richard really doesn't like it so it makes it hard for me. I hope that one day he will play it for me on guitar and let me sing it to him.

  • That would be good for your self esteem if he would atleast pretend to like it so you can feel more comfortable. Wow, I'm listening to it again as I write this and I can't get over it. Sign a label! You'll go platinum! Best of luck, God Bless, Jessica :]

  • Well I cannot expect him to pretend because I never ever manage to sing a song which I don't WANT to sing. I guess I am not ready to "perform" for perfomance sake and he is probably not much different. [:

  • Nice cover of a great old tune.

  • *cringe*

I want to redo this with Richard on guitar and Tommy (our Bus Stop Band) but Richard is shirking. LOL!

  • yeah..that was music too

    good job honey

    good choise

did you tried songs of janis j.

    grtz

    sevenender

  • Thanks sevenenders. Mum likes that Bobby McGee song but I haven't done it. "Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose" [:

  • think you got enough power and soul in ya voice

and the talent to sing song of janis and other great female singers

    grtz

    ender

  • Aww that is really a nice thing to say. [: I like to sing smooth though.

  • Wow Great Voice!!Good Luck To Ya!!

  • Thank you onetrickpony420. xox

  • The first gig. Awesome. I look forward to seeing them. Who knows maybe one day our music biz paths will cross. I am sure you will be great. If you need any advice just ask. Tell your mom I said Hi. Kevin

  • It was interesting. Lol Videos going up shortly.

  • Beautiful Job. You sound awesome. Kevin

  • Thank you again kjmix1. You are very kind. I am getting ready for my first big gig just now so look out for more videos soon! Lol xox

  • My, my! What have I found here? I've meandered my way onto this video (by way of one of your mom's, where I was also meandering) and what a wonderful surprise was waiting for me. This is my first audience to your singing, and I have to say I'm delighted. This took me right back to the 60's. Now that may sound simply like an old fogey's byline, but you must consider the perspective. A lot of what...

  • (cont'd) ...younger folks may consider to be original or unique is to me merely yet another twist on what's been around for a while. What I've heard in this voice comes from the spirit of an older day; back to the roots, back to its origins. You might describe it as being connected to its heart. This is intriguing. Must hear more. Next video, please!

  • Aww thanks harleynanda. It is raw and imperfect and she pulls a face that it is up but I think it is true to the spirit of music. She sings from her heart (in this case a heart which is presently in the possession of Richard anyway!) and this song means so much to her just now. LOL! I would LOVE to hear him play it for her on guitar (his electric guitar is MEAN!) while she sings but this will do nicely for the now!

  • You're welcome, dear. And as regarding the expression; well, as this wasn't a 'performance' there was no audience present and I doubt the microphone voiced any complaints about any expressions given. The camera but lends us insight to a recording moment, however unique it be. lol. Brigid does indeed have a wonderful ability. I would dearly love to hear more tunes of this same sort. You're familiar and I'm the newly arrived; any suggestions from her collection? (pardon the 3rd person, Brigid.)

  • Lol I think mum means that I pulled a face when I heard it in playback. It is DIRE. lol And Richard came back home just when I had finished it so I nearly had an audience. I think I changed a lot in the last year since I started singing so I think that my blues from Norah Jones are my favourites. Mum likes my Scottish tunes but I forgot the words in The Dark Island because I got totally flustered by the audience. Oh and I really like Valerie which Richard and I do at Etal. [:

  • Valerie? A video title, I trust. Well, I shall have to go and have a listen. Brigid, based on what I've heard in this video I would say there are some tunes from the 60's which you would get your heart into and do an excellent job on. Consider that a request. You might investigate the work of artists such as Laura Nyro and the band Mother Earth (re: Mother Earth; I would love to hear your rendition of some of Tracy's songs). You have a character of voice which would be excellent on them.

  • ...but since you were discussing expressions, those given while singing the verses reveal the spirit of that connection I mentioned earlier. Yeah, the lady is feelin' it.

  • I see that she pipped me to the post. I agree that Valerie (a modern song done by Amy Winehouse and The Zutons) is a great one but I prefer the Pilot version. Etal is too indistinct because the recording is via mic and then camera mic. The Pilot sessions are always camera mic only and so much clearer. Don't Know Why in Glencoe is nice and I actually really like Out Of Reach and (teehee) You Can Leave Your Hat On as a wickedly fun moment in the life of Brigid The Serious. LOL!

  • What have you found indeed Harley! Gold, I'd suggest. Apart from the talent, enthusiasm and intelligence of this 'family' of people; they are quite nice too. Do what I do; pull up a chair, relax and enjoy.

  • And I believe that's exactly what I intend to do, sundaegirl, as soon as my schedule permits. I love to find new talent, and my initial impression is that Brigid's works will be very enjoyable. She does indeed have a wonderful voice.

  • lol SundaeGirl for some reason I missed this comment. I guess I don't get told when a comment is in reply to another person's comments. Thank you for being so nice about this one. We finally did it and formed a band which sometimes gets together. We are going to be called The Bus Stop Band. lol xox

  • I'm looking forward to the results. This one just 'hit the spot' for me, big time. Much as Richard isn't keen on the style, I doubt he questions the tecnique. If he does, i have a few 7 tonners lyning around...

  • Oh! Can I say that he does question the technique? I think I owe him one for that towel, methinketh. lol xox

  • grab him by the ear and point to the views. POINT!! Then say loudly "You know nothing!" Then be all friendly safe in the knowledge women are always right.

  • Meant to say that that doesn't work. He just gets all smug and says yeah-yeah.

  • And he did exactly THAT last night. I could strangle him. Smugness Himself. Grr. lol xox

  • i know someday im going to be sorry i didnt get pages of your autograpghs now!

  • And I am already sorry that we didn't meet up when you were doing Peace Walker. I would love to have met you and Chase in real life. Hopefully we will get a chance sometime in the future when you are over so that you can film me and Richard please. xox

  • VERY COOL! ~ LOVE it! ~

    ♫ ToMMyY!! ♫

  • Thanks TOOOOOOOMMMMMSTER! Lol. I actually couldn't decide if I liked an RnB version of this song but since I am not really a rocker? Might try the funk version as well though if Richard would play the guitar for me and Tommy the drums. [: B®igid

  • As good as it gets.

  • Lol sundaegirl! Richard HATES this song and he HATES this version even more than the original Funk version. I am still trying to get him to do this with me this weekend with Tommy on percussion. Will have to see. ;) xox
