You do know you could just kill the Licker B's when you encounter them, take all the lion hearts, pause, exit the game and save over current status and equipment, play the game again in the same area and you'll still have the lion hearts? Farm the Licker B's :) 2500 Gold per Lion Heart.

the best ways to get rotten and golden eggs are playing chapter 3-1 in the place where you get ambushed by tribesmen for collecting a piece of the emblem needed to open the door in a village out on the water where you can kill chickens for eggs, or right before you walk into the oil plant with the two chainsaw men there is a grassy area where you learn that tricel is involved in uromburos and if you walk through the tall grass around there snakes will come out which you can kill for eggs.

try going to the tomb raider looking level.. cant remember what chapter it is.. but at the beginning.. there's a gang of those spider things. Kill those and one of them should drop a rotten egg.

You can also flash 3 of them and get an achievement.

Eggs come snakes. Sometimes when you open something or break a box/ vase, they jump out and slither around. Just shoot them. Sadly, I don't have a second controller.
