Everytime I have visitors I have to warn them not to leave their pocket books on the floor because my 4 ferrets will surely all climb into that purse and make off with the goods...keys, gum, candy, wallet, tampons, cellphones...they arent picky other than grabing whatever smells like fruit because I give my fuzzies a very occasional fruit treat and they go nuts over them.
I have to warn my friends of the same thing. Out of curiosity to see if I was BSing her, my friend left her purse on the couch and we sat next to my computer watching. My Jasper stole her wallet, Chief got her keys, Snickers took all her tissues. It was funny. They shoved them all lovingly under the couch with the rest of their stash (toys, socks, etc.)
They didnt name them stinky little theives for nothing. They are so cute. yet can cause a huge amount of chaos in a matter of seconds, especially if my 4 fuzzies are working as a group. We have learned that ferret proofing the house means much more than holes and appliances being sealed. It also means no drinks sitting where they can get them, and if you want it to be stolen, then leave it where the ferrets can get it. We are now forced to think before we put something down.
