  • Its strange but something about him sounds false and weak. He seems unsure and at times hesitant. I feel sorry for him. He seems lost. Hes obviously got personal issues. I wouldnt be surprised that he was paid to do this.

  • @CountDeSade00

He's a PhD, a Professor, and an Islamic Scholar. Just because your brain is too simple to fathom theology, doesn't mean you need to bash a person because he embraced it. What are you? A diluted atheist child, distraught with the world? Or some failure in life, so dissatisfied with you false conclusion, that you want to have everyone else wallow in the same misery you've created for yourself?

If you don't have a God, have shame or respect at least. Or else, you're just an animal.

  • @Arabman666 We are animals. I don't know if he really is all of those things but, if he was than he would not be religious and especially not one who believes in Christ or Muhammed. They are no longer fit to be part of this worlds evolving society. I was a christian once but after I became educated and started to think for myself and put two and two together I was enlightened you might say to find out the real truth and that is that all religions are made by humans alone and are fictitious.

  • @CountDeSade00

We are animals by design, not by actions. The fact that you stated that shows me you're not educated. Either you couldn't comprehend my allegorical simile, or you simply refused to.

I'm educated- and was a hypertension researcher for 7 and 1/2 years. I know more about evolution and genetics than you'd know at 100 years.

If you don't like this Professors choice, do as he says, and don't make the same choice. Insulting the man. Find something else to do.

    Pompousness is your fall.

  • @Arabman666 Hold on a second I need to ask you one thing. Are you a muslim?

  • @Arabman666 Are you a muslim yourself? Sure he can believe in whatever he wants, but does his children have a choice? I sure hope so. If you ask me children shouldn't get involved with religion untill they are 18 years old. Religion should be classified with an age limit just like so many other things today such as alcohol and tobacco.

  • @CountDeSade00

He's said, on numerous occasions "I teach my children to look for the truth, and the logic, themselves"

The fact that you arrogantly condemn religion, because you think you're educated, is stupid. Like I said, save face, and leave. Your arrogance doesn't make you look smart, it makes you look foolish.

  • @Arabman666 If you are so educated than you would agree that its ignorance to believe in the koran or the bible when the philosophers Mohammed and Jesus of Nazareth never wrote a jot or tittle in them. A mullah told me one with great positiveness- strangley enough, that "no the prophet mohammed could not read or write" and that he was analphabet. Its just pure insanity to think that so many people blindly follow its teachings is beyond anyone.

  • @CountDeSade00

Comparing the cannon of the Quran and the Bible is idiocy

The Quran is a recited text. It was put into a codex before the Prophets death by his disciples- the texts are dated, and present at various museums from France, to Turkey, to Russia. They're all the same. Muhammad was also a public figure, thousands memorized the Quran as an art form before he died. Jesus was an obscure figure- no one knew who he even was till 400 years later.

I don't care about your anecdotes.

  • @CountDeSade00

The fact that Muhammad could go into a trance, and recite a 2 hour mystical "poem" without missing a beat in front of hundreds of people, without being able to write, either means he's insane, or a Prophet. The content of the Quran makes me choose the latter, not the former.

    Take your criticize elsewhere.

  • @Arabman666 which 2 hour 'poem' was this? dont get me wrong, I am a Muslim too. its just this is the first time I am hearing this :) Thankx bro. Assalaam aleykom

  • @jawatroxion

I'm refering to the sataircal interperation of Islamic history by the west. The west views the Quran as a book of "spiritual" poems by an eneigmatic man (Muhammad)- the 2 hour poem was supposed to represent their "satirized" version of a Surah. Like, when Muhammad (sas) would say: This is a revelation from God, and begin reciting the beautiful Quran.

I had no Surah in mind, but Surat Al Baqarah is about 2 hours.

  • @CountDeSade00 I think the word Quran comes from some root word that leads to the meaning 'recitation'. Muhammad did not write it down, but it was written down by the people of his time and also by his followers :) In many religions, many people do blindly follow, I agree. But you cant say that's for the case of Jeff Lang right?Maybe u can refer to his books, one of which is "Even Angles Ask".Quite a critical book Id say.Hope this clears up some misconceptions.Cheers bro! :D

  • @Arabman666 Ok. To bring it down to your level now- I'm not hurt, because frankly, theology is equivalent to the Donald Duck series. Believe it or not, believe it.

  • The truth is in the word of God believing in our Lord Jesus Christ!

  • Religion=cancer that needs to be stomped out.

  • Jazaka Allahu khairan. What a great video! Let's just get the mosques in the mid east to be open 24-7 with the sister's side open always too.

  • I want to meet Dr. Lang .... I love u bro ....

  • The intellectual and rational interpretation of Islam appeals more to me than the traditionally stagnant interpretation, several times in the Koran God tells us to think and reflect and says the Koran is 'for those who think', and so for me I'm an intellectual at heart I don't just accept things as it is, I must be rationally convinced first, I became Muslim five years ago because Islam as an intellectual appeal and its rational, the Koran is a great book that heavily talks about using reason.

  • @themuslimburro I agree... especially growing up in western culture. A Islam encompassing western cultural tendencies hasn't really been developed yet. We have some scholars like Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad, and Tariq Ramadan, but mainly muslims who converted have to go to Asian, Arab or African immigrant muslim communities. Alot of converts feel an identity/cultural split between these communities and the culture they come from.... like I do.

  • @themuslimburro May Allah bless you and keep you on the straight path brother.

  • Clever man.. May Allah bless him..

  • We seriously need a more intellectual approche for the Ummah.

  • Like Khaled Abou El Fadl...

  • no

    not like khaled aboulfadl

    aoudhibillah not like him

  • what's wrong Khaled Abou El Fadl? As long as his ideas don't explicitly contradict the Koran, he should be allowed to talk and debate. At least he's thinking but of course someone like Irshad Manji she's a hypocrite because you CANNOT be Muslim and Lesbian at the same time so her opinions should be thrown out but people who keep the Five pillars, believe in God, avoid alcohol, gambling and adultery their opinion should at least be read at leave it to the reader to think what to do with it.

  • @themuslimburro You can be a muslim and lesbian. Islam doesn't advocate homosexuality but you can still be a muslim and commit major sins (you don't sin?). I'm not advocating it but sinning is human nature. You cannot be selective who you call a muslim or not simply because they commit a sin (homosexuality) that you find more PERSONALLY OFFENSIVE than others (like adultery or Zina).

  • @LuqmanNaq You have a point there LuqmanNaq, the thing is someone like Irshad Manji for example, she justifies it in which I think is wrong but someone who knows they are doing wrong and work to either stop it or at least lessen it I consider that person actually struggling to do better, I myself have my share of bad habits that I would like to stop but its step by step, and so you know of course I sin, everybody does, you made a good point though, you have yourself a good day and salaam to you.

  • definely a lot of muslim scholars have the attitude of 'you'll hear and obey!' but at the beginning of Islam they were many Muslim intellectuals that think critically and debated topics and had discussions but nowadays they don't debate, for example in Saudi Arabia and Egypt if your a scholar and you disagree with them your in big trouble, scholars need to be more intellectual and reflect and think.

  • WHat i like about jeffery lang is that, despite his more liberal views, he's nothing like Tarek fatah or irshad manji, he talks about the problems that exist but does not grossly exaggerate the problems like those two do.

  • SalaamAlaikum, SUBHANALLAH , thanks for posting the Lecture,

May ALLAH guide Us All, Ameen.

    May ALLAH bless you, Ameen.

    JAZAKALLAH KHAIR.

Jazaka Llah such a great video.

  • thanks
