Hi Simone, it's several days that I listen to this masterpiece of music perormed by several famous professional singers. This music is so incredibly beautiful - i underdtand very well, that you loved to sing it. And this is to be heard in your performance that i found only today. You did it fantastically and i loved the way you did it - also the breaks. Listen to the tracks of Alison Moyet und of Jessye Norman - they also put their special love into that song. Keep your joy Peter
just to point out im not an actual opera singer, i have family history of a soprano.... im just a normal vocalist that had been asked to do a teenage opera....... i enjoyed it very much and it was a brilliant experience.....
That girl is amazing. At 14 years old...please, all the critics wish they could do that even in their old age. BRAVA! Simone, you have the voice and spirit of an angel.
I think she did very well and with the breaks it is fine. Every Opera Singer has their own style of singing. If you look at the way the way the characters Carlota and Christine were to sing Think Of Me in The Phantom Of Opera, it shows an example of that. But this girl known as Simone did a lovely job, with singing lessons I think she could scructure her singing much better. But the most important thing is to sing how your heart tells you to sing it, and that is true singing.
Hmm... any substantial and educated discussion of opera should definitely include Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera." Oh, wait! That's schlocky musical theatre...
While, yes, every opera singer (not sure why it was capitalized here) has their own style of singing, there are generally accepted styles of performing Baroque opera, if we were to use the term. From the comment below, it seems that the director is to blame. The girl has some talent, but the director needs to learn.
Just talked to Simone, apparently she was told to do it by the music teacher to make it easier for her. I think it sounds ok, modernises the song a bit. Remember it was a "teen" opera ;)
I was in this on the right hand side of the the 3 girls wearing the golden gowns, was such an amazing experience!!

Fabulous - and no iritating over done vibrato or gliding up to notes that should be hit first time, unlike the majority of operah singers. Bravo

whats with the breaks in between the word "laid" on the descending scale?
Did someone tell her that she should do that?
