  • I really love this game! It's so awesome, it's so classic!!

  • Anyone ever tell you that you look like Russ from European Vacation?

  • The best castlevania!!! A.masterpiece!!

  • worse review ever lol, go play cod

  • @TheOmi3333 Leave him alone! Whether the review has good or bad quality, it is Super Castlevania IV, the most epic Castlevania game in existence. Go easy on him, he tried the best he could.

  • @TheOmi3333 WTF y r u here if u don't like it? i got nothing against u, but haters have NO LIFE! GO PLAY COD!

  • a great review..but you had to be there when it came out to realise how great it was

  • @brewt1mer

No, he has played more SNES games than most people back then.

So he knows what to compare it to.

And games were better back then so that's like saying the AVGN who grew up with NES that he can't judge XBOX 360 games because he didn't grow up with them...

  • How many times have I rewatched your reviews? I lost track. Just like the games themselves, your reviews never get old :D

  • @SuperXD25 haha Thanks, man.

  • if it matters when i comes to castelvania games for me my first was bloodlines i never got to play super castlevania 4 after that the next for me was casltevania64 then i recently played lament of innocence and i like it better than tCastlevania 64 but it's a tough tie for me between LOI and super castlevania4 but bloodlines is what made me fall in love with the series.

  • I bought a copy of this game for $4.95!

  • @Ultramatt01 fucking lucky. I had to pay $40. still in package and cellophane though.

  • @Legend4444 I also got other games for $4.95 which were Super Double Dragon, Battletoads/Double Dragon, Super Street Fighter 2, and Demon's Crest (Worth about $40) all for $4.95 each at a pawn shop. They were all pretty dirty but I cleaned them up with some turtle wax and windex.

  • POSSIBLY THE BEST CASTLEVANIA!?! Are you nuts? Symphony Of The Night holds that title and this is one of those odd magical situations where an opinion becomes a fact.

  • @dynelol

I think SotN is good, but not better than IV. The challenge in SotN was easy compared to IV. You didn't have to worry about falling to your death and you could get out of difficult areas fairly easy by turning into a bat or whatever. I wished more levels that took place outside the castle were used in SotN, rather than all of it pretty much being inside the Castle. Although the music is great, IV has some of the best around. SotN was damn good, but I'd pick IV over it anyday

  • @r4rev haha I like the main games of the series but not the spin-off games or the TV shows.

  • I actually found Castlevania 4 unopened at my local half price book store.

Needless to say playing it for the first time 20 years after it's release was baddass.

BEST OF THE OLD SCHOOL CASTLEVANIA GAMES!!!!!

  • AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS THIS GAME IS LIKE 10 TIMES HARDER THAN CONTRA 3?

  • Some constructive criticism: use a wider range of vocabulary, and use it properly. Some sentences didn't make much sense.

Also, try to add some expression to your voice: it sounds like you're bored to death and just reading a script off a piece of paper. :/

Other than that, good review of a great game. :)

  • This game deserved a better review .

  • The super Castlevania IV soundtrack is awesome, I listen to it all the time

  • That clock tower level has my fav song!..And this is one of my favorite games.

  • You should apply for a YouTube Partnership.

  • Do you play Sega Genesis?

  • @123doomdoom Yes, I have one but I don't have nearly as many games as on SNES

  • @SNESMan16 Dood what generation did you grow up in.You can't change a classic and yes it's better than all the kiddie nes characters combined.

  • @Omega666Evil I grew up with the SNES but it was already old at the time. I know you can't go back and change games; I just was giving examples of places the game could have been better.

  • @SNESMan16 Yeah I agree to some in my days.

  • I like your review, but I have to say that I love the special weapons in this game...well, at least love the cross. It does great damage and most of time it hits your enemy twice. If you keep the same item, you can upgrade the amount of times you can use it in one go by collecting the Roman Numerals. Being able to throw 3 crosses at a time while fighting a boss, or an enemy like the molten men in the caves, makes this game so much more manageable in the long run.

  • i got this game today and it is as fun as you said. do you have any recommendations for me.

  • @subzero12320 Glad you liked it. I'd recommend if you haven't played: TMNT 4 Turtles in Time, Sunset Riders, and King of Dragons.

  • @SNESMan16 thanks i already have tmnt 4 i will look into sunset riders

  • @subzero12320 you can also try(if you dont have)

kiler instinct(one of the coolest fighting games ever)

    earthworm jim

    yoshis island

    U.N squadron

    kirby superstar

    actraiser

super punch outlegend of the mystical ninja

    zombies ate my neighbors

    and sparkster

  • @Jeremy5028 and sonic the hedgehog series

  • @GroxStarcraft no this is a super nintendo list

  • i actually own this game and an snes. its a good game but i havnt got very far. personally id give it a 10 out of 20 but thats cuz im a huge castlevania fan

  • wow this is my first time watching your video and your pretty good review for snes and the only one i've seen that only does snes games nulike angry video game nerd and happy video game nerd so shocked by how well your review was that i'm going to subscribe.

  • snesman be happy that it isn´t hard

    as Castlevania III

  • You say at the end of the video that Castlevania doesn't stack up to first-party Nintendo series, but to be fair there have been a lot of mediocre Mario games and Castlevania titles are consistently good.

  • @aggressivePerfect0r I agree that Mario has made many crappy spinoffs (Sports, Party Games) but the core games are usually higher in quality. Super Mario Bros 1-3, World, 64, and even the new main games are brilliant.

  • @SNESMan16 umad Snesman? party games shitty? i LOVE mario party 1-3 and ds (those are the ones i played) :D

  • @Happytreefriendsfan3 I agree that the first couple party games are pretty good (haven't played DS) but on the Gamecube they distinctly lowered in quality. And I just didn't think that any of the Mario Spinoffs were nearly as good as the main platformers. XD

  • @SNESMan16 never played gamecube mario parties, but heard that some say their favorite is mario party 5,but i have to judge myself when i play them :D (also mario party advance sucked ass)

btw, awesome avatar, and keep those awesome reviews coming ;D

  • @Happytreefriendsfan3 i like mario party seven. thats good to

  • Oh my God, I mean OMG I have just bought this game and you're reviewing it. wow. its a great game. im getting my ass kicked by Death, he's a hard mo fo

  • One of my favorite games of all time

  • My favourite Castlevania game. The music is amazing, the whip is really great, and there are lots of varied levels that deliver a tough challange.

You're right about the game's slight issues - so it's a shame that Konami didn't make CastlevaniaV, which could have been even better.

The other snes Castlevania, DraculaX, is really lame imo. It's really sad that the snes didn't get sequels to some of its best games: Castlevania, Contra, Axelay etc.. It's a sad fact for snes fans.

  • How does water catch on fire? Anyway, great game and great review!

  • @vintagevideogamegeek It smites the undead!

  • MODE 7 blew my f*cking mine back in the day!

  • @8BitROB I wasn't even born when this game came out! :D Thanks for the insight, oh Wise ROB.

  • Hey I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos. Sometimes I disagree with some of your criticism, but overal I think your reviews are great. I'm looking forward to whatever comes next. My son sometimes sings your theme song.

  • @staypuftweepel Thank you! I'm glad your son likes the song.

  • As AVGN would say it

I pop this f@#!$r in any day XD

    great review :)

  • symphony of the night is a great game.. But i always appreciated the straighted forward and simple gameplay of the earlier castlevania games, i think SoTN can be a bit more overwhelming, and coulda been its own franchise rather than slapping the castlevania logo on it and forever changing the castlevania gameplay that it had gotton so much recognition and praise for in the first place.

  • Yeah =D

I love this game and I am a sound whore ^^

Theme of Simon is such a wonderful 16-bit Song! =)

  • I never play Castlevania 4 it looks very nice. And aging great. Even today look interesting and nice.

Nice review again , keep up the good work. I looking forward for the next one. Good luck.

  • Well done again

  • I'm a huge Castlevania fan. But as much as I love "SuperC4" (explosive abbreviation), I would say the best game of the series is Symphony of the Night. :)

  • @10doTV Nothing can match SuperC4! ;) I haven't played Symphony of Night but it looks excellent.

  • Comment removed

  • @SNESMan16

SuperC4 is my favorite as well. Symphony of the Night is a good game, but I hate how it derailed the series so much, as it was the first "MetroidVania".

  • Its nice to see you're still making SNES reviews. It would be so cool if you eventually reviewed 100+ games. Your vids are one of the highlights of my many subscriptions.

  • @Reservoirdogs12 Thank you, I'm glad to hear it! Maybe someday I'll reach a 100, you never know. ;)

  • nice one! This has to be in my top 5 SNES games ever. When it comes to Castlevania games I only prefer Castlevania: The New Generation for the Mega Drive

  • this game has badass music

  • When I started collecting, this is one of the first games I got. Classic.

  • Wahoo, your review is up! Happy um.... night! xD

Yeah this game is a classic. I've been trying to find more Castlevania games, never had them in my childhood and it makes me sad. :(

  • I LOVE the Castlevania series.

  • you touched on the things that make the game great like the graphics and music. Good call!

  • Great Review SNESman

  • YAY! New review! I yet to play much of this Castlevania, but now I'm in the mood to try it out more... XD I do think it has some very, very awesome music. Great review as always SNESMan! Can't wait for what the next review may be. Hmmm... SO many SNES games... So little time...

  • i love your vids and the snes keep up the good work!

  • Great review as always, already looking forward to the next one.

  • interesting as always

  • damn I dislike the North American title screen. Also... the box art.

  • @captainhydao At least the game is the same!

  • @SNESMan16 well, not 100% the same.

  • @captainhydao How is it different? I haven't played any Japanese or European cartridges before.

  • @SNESMan16 Japanese Intro ::: watch?v=89UluxUpJlE ... (and go to wikipedia!) ... cheers. =)

  • Awsome video!

  • great review
