1. Thank u for this vid! 2. I get how people wanna say how MM is "better" then MP. Maybe technically with hands and speed he is. But What MP lacks in those areas. He makes what are simple hand patterns into the most mind blowing...scratch ur head...wtf rewind that shit... what did he just do there???...Drum parts you've ever heard. After knowing Mangini was going to replace Portnoy and after seeing a few videos of him I thought the same thing that I think now after listening to the new DT album: Maybe Mangini can do things that Portnoy can't do physically, but Mangini isn't as good as Portnoy as a progressive metal drummer composer.

Petrucci has said in interviews that he himself wrote the drum parts, and that Mangini had no influence whatsoever on the writing of the album. He joined the band too late to make any compositional contribution.

Give Mangini a chance. He's at the top of his league, and he's certainly a technically superior drummer to Portnoy.

@Bookster343 Yes I read about MM not composing the drum parts (is that odd or what?) after writing that comment. (interview on musicradar, in case you are interested). Perhaps it makes me have more hope for him as a DT drummer. It's obvious that he's an EXTREMELY gifted drummer. I don't deny that for a second. From what I could listen so far I still believe MP could be a better drummer FOR DT (MM wrote some parts and, I guess, the fills), but I guess we'll have to wait until the next album.
