it's great but i wish someone could upload the original version, he sang it a little more emotionally and the ending just let the music fade out (didn't have the studio echo effect this one has) it had no deep bass either but i think anyone that hears it will love it also.
I haven't heard this song in so long this and teddybear song i used to listen to when my dad was on the road away from home. Brings me back & puts a tear in my eye. =) thax red for your heart and soul in these truckin songs you've givin us =)
this is amazing video for this song and giddy up go my dad used to drive trucks i never was able to go wit him cuz i wasnt old enough but when he came home he would drive me around town but he had to stop cuz my sister start having problems and he needed to be home and he hasnt drove a truck sence
Years ago, crashed a truck in the Nethlands into a house because the brakes completely failed.
The trucker dont want to turn on the grass where some schoolkids have waited for the bus, so he drived straight into a house to give his live instead of taking it from the kids!
Sadly two other people died in the house, too.
Here is a report of the crash in german. The trucker was german and lived just 5km away from me.
I'm not really a big country fan,but...BUT...MAN!!! The first time I ever heard this song, I'd never heard anything like it. The guy on the radio never said who it was by, but I remembered the name, "Phantom 309."
This title rolled around in my head for the next fifteen tyears or so, during which I never once more perchanced to hear the song. Not on the radio; a party or someone singing it.
A lady from Tennessee finally told me it was by one Red Sovine. I learned the spelling on the web &
I saw the Phantom 309 in Midland TX in 1971. In a Vega Kamm Back glare ice in Feb. A Black Rig with silver box....he blew by me when i was walkin' and talkin' by all others....Stopped in looking for this at the Union 76 truck stop in Dallas Fortworth. Only the truckers section was open. I rolled my chair in..Truckers Only..Well I said I was looking for a trucker described the rig...I had to repeat what I had seen to everyone. Scared me sooo bad when i heard the story of the 309
cool video but what a ugly truck ,why is the cab on one side whats the point of that ? and is that a good place for the exhaust ? must av been a bad day at the design office .
The Mack used in this video appears to be a straight truck fuel tanker, I suspect one used by the US Air Force. The song brings back many childhood memories and I spent 20 years in the Air Force so thanks for the memories
Thank You Mogi' for posting this heart tugging tear pulling beauty of timeless & pricless song from a great era. Song has always move the depths of my soul, gets me choked up & at times a tear in my eyes. I haven't heard this song since the 60's? oh well I know its been a very long time & it was quite enchanting to go down this memory lane. Thank you so much for sharing this us all!!
breaker 1-9, this here's Orange Fury, callin out to all u country fans out there. ya see, Red Sovine was tha best country singer/ story teller there ever was. R.I.P red sovine 1918-1980. ok well, Orange Fury's gunna bak out nao...catch y'all on tha flip-flop. we gone, bye bye...
This song is amazing!! I love it. The animation is too cute. I miss good ol classic country music. These modern country singers just dont have the soul stirring factor to them.
Thanks for making this interesting enough to hold the attn of a highly academic 13yo yet not so high in maturity yet. I'm trying to expand her musical repertoire & who best to hear from this line but the voice of old trucker singer, Red Sovine. Our oldest learned almost the same way but it wasn't as easy on her as it was w/her sister today. So thanks for helping me share w/her the memories of my time when I spent traveling here & there almost always in the safety btw 2 trucks N the rocking chair
@N0L0B The "dislikes" were from the 4 remaining members of Ghost Union Local #308, P-O'ed that independent ghost 309 gets all the glory. (In the ghost business, independednt ghosts are known as phantoms.)
@79goldmaster1 Unfortenetly no they do not. True country music is dying nowadays. All you hear about is songs that have no meaning or aren't true country. This right here is true country and has a true story to it. Country is slowly dying, and it's sad. I'm a country boy going to schol in the city and it's all rap, hip hop, and all this other shit. It's sad, it really is.
@MysteryDrifter69 Yeah, this type of music just isn't produced anymore & it's sad too b/c it always had a story behind & usually the story was built from some truth the occurred on the road. B4 I lost most of my sight, I always had a CD radio in every vehicle I owned. It kept me updated w/the truckers & I was on the road a lot, usually in the rocking chair - the safest place to be. The truckers were like family. Most I knew are gone now. My radio's in the attic as I can't bring myself to toss it
@PaisleyPlace You should never toss it. I'm only 16, but I'm a double leg amputee and I want to do truck driving. I'm gonna accomplish that dream no matter what. I to own a CD radio, I love listening to it.
@MysteryDrifter69 I plan to hold onto it along w/the hopes I'll have a kid @ Georgetown 1 day who can use it. I always slipped into the rocking chair on long drives & commutes then rotated off w/other trucks when 1 went off my route. A pair of truckers saved my oldest child's life once too. She had a bad reaction to penicillin; her dr was @ the ER waiting. We made a 40min drive in less than 20min. They stayed w/us the whole way. I am forever in their debt & they are forever in my heart.
@MysteryDrifter69 Before you ask, I began losing my sight as an adult about 7-8yrs after my oldest was born. She was only months old when I had to make that drive. It was terrifying & I was frantic b/c I didn't know if she'd make it so I put out the call on the CB & these men were close enough to get me there w/help from others who were on cop-watch so we could get to the ER faster. I bet we run 75 to 85+mph all the way. She had to have an epi shot to counter it. We didn't know she was allergic.
@PaisleyPlace That is a very touching. It hurts to hear people slandering truckers because they think they are scum. I've met many truckers and loved talking to them. May truckers always live and be noticed as great. I hope they never get replaced by computers.
