For any dancers out there: in terms of choreography, what standard was that? It's just it seemed a bit basic compared to the stuff the newer pros are lobbing at the celebrities these days.

Showdance - Tom amd Camilla

Argentine Tango - Mark and Karren

Salsa - Mark and Karren

Quickstep - Colin and Erin

Viennese Waltz - Alesha and Matthew

Nothing in this series has come close to any one of those dances, bee pretty poor I have to say, people are getting way overmarked.

@ShyGuy19898 I have to admit I do think both dances were superb, particularly Jason's (love the Argie Tango as a dance anyway), whether I would have given them a 10..not sure, maybe a 9.5 if that's possible, but they were very high quality.

My opinion hasn't changed though, this series has been WAY overmarked, particularly by Alesha, and also Len who seems to spend his time making up puns and similes. Jason's AT got a perfect score but M+K's AT from 5 season ago was superior and got less marks

@JackRabbitSlim What about Rachel and Vincents Rumba and also their Tango and Foxtrot scored 40 and Vincent and Rachels Argentine Tango was undermarked Flavia told Vincent the choreography for that routine was difficult and she pulled it off with no mistakes and was told by the judges she looked like a professional instead of a celeb learning a routine she was doing the Argentine Tango with the World Champion.

@nomisrofreve The reason the BBC chose Alesha is because she is black. And before anybody comes on here claiming I'm racist for saying that - don't! It ain't my fault that's the reason.

There were complaints from some that the black contestants were voted out early and so SCD was too white when that happened. The only thing they could do to make sure a black person remained to the end was to have a black judge the following season. No pro black judges so they picked Alesha to replace Arlene.

The BBC1 controller at the time was a woman called Jay Hunt and she said about Alesha when she was picked to replace Arlene that Alesha was a "young, black, woman presenter". She made the claim about Alesha's ethnicity being the main reason she was picked to try and offset the ageism row. They should have kept Arlene and had 5 judges if they needed a black person.
