I believe in nonviolent force myself yet I'm in the process of joining the Air Force. Hopefully I'll get a position on a disaster relief team (like what was sent to Haiti and Japan) or as a doctor. I'm joining to protect lives, just like every other military member. No one wants to kill if they don't have to.

And of course there are people who want to kill, but they are outliers of the norm. I've never met anyone who's reason for serving was to go on a man hunt. There's a difference between feeling no remorse for killing a man in war and enjoying it. In the civilian world I would feel no remorse for downing another human who thought it was okay to threaten the lives of innocent people.

I look at things form a biological scientists point of view. We live in a survival of the fittest world. An ecosystem has a carrying capacity. America can't supply its own energy for its current capacity, so it takes from others to survive. Its how the world has worked since the dawn of life.

The government should get its head out of its ass and invest in technology research so it doesn't need to take oil.

My point is, so what if its about money. If the resource gain benefits America then it keeps us free of high prices. One could argue we're a slave to oil, which is why I think solar tech research should be focused on. It's a grim idea to accept, but no everyone in the world can stay alive. It's called natural selection. It sucks, and hopefully technology will soon be to where people can live without stealing resources from others (water, oil, fertile land, etc.)
