  • I think i was 8 or 9 years old when i saw this movie the first time. I remember crying when the boy took his fathers hand. I'm 40 now, a father myself, and still crying like 32 years ago.

  • Thank you, grazie for putting this great film on the net. I saw it many years ago and I wished to see it again.

  • First time I saw this film I like 'what the hell where the happy ending' & my mate slap me back of the head saying ' this is not Hollywood cinema' LOL GOOD FILM

  • Sad reality... damn, I'm crying

  • uhm..I have to say I was disappointed. Doesn't come close to Satyajit Ray's Pathar Panchali. I heard Ray mention this movie in one of his interviews and that's what got me to watch this in the first place. Wasn't bad but definitely overrated. Got tiring at a point. Ray did much greater justice to his characters and to the theme of poverty. His characters were better brought out and the camera stayed on the faces long enough to capture emotions.

  • First time viewing. Thanks again good ole tube.

  • BIUTIFUL. pure & true

  • Tremendous movie. The scene of the pain and humiliation that Antonio felt due to his helplessness and hopelessness and over having his son see him shamed, is one of the most powerful scenes in all of cinema.

  • Too much references to imaginary gods.

The scene with the quack soothsayer using "the light of god" ruined the movie for me.

Hell, 1948 was the 20th century, not the dark ages when the masses were ignorant of the universe and evolution and how silly the gods that old men invented are.

  • @chort14 You are ridiculous. How can the mention of god ruin a movie for you? Especially as it was mentioned by a fringe character, and religion has not a thing to do with the theme or story arc of the movie as a whole. Was the Godfather ruined because of the baptism scene? No, you are just an ignoramus. I do not believe in god or religion, but I do not allow it's brief mention to ruin a piece of amazing cinema. It is 2011 and people still believe in "the light of god", you fool.

  • Wow, I was expecting a happy ending. So sad.

  • Good old movie. Thanks..:)

  • Bruno was starting to annoy me. But I guess he was useful in the end.

  • The next day ,the guy Ricci tried to steel the bike from, met up with him by chance in the plazza, he asked him why he tried to steel his bike. When he understood why he felt bad- and bought him a new bike and a lock to lock it with and Ricci didn't lose his job.

  • @catgumart Sounds like your normal Hollywood movie. That is not what this movie is about..

  • fuck, what a sad movie :'(

  • this is a wonder full movie

  • i just love this moovi......

  • Thanks for the upload, I've been meaning to watch this for ages.

  • Grazie.

  • Thanks for the upload! awww... i have penchant for old films. It's simplicity over powers today's stylized mass produced movies.

  • Watched the whole film. It can really leave you speechless. Perhaps it is from this film the saying "bicycle theft is the lowest crime".

  • i really feel bad for Ricci. i recently had my mountain bike stolen. sure it was distressing but it's really nothing compared with Ricci and his family has to go through =(

  • As a saying goes "'Desperate times call for drastic measures'". Yes, the story is just as simple as that but this film is the epitome of beauty behind simplicity. I can't help but feel sad. I hate to think about the fact that the character should wait for another year to get a job. I was moved by the last scene where the father was trying to keep his tears from falling and held the hand of his son. I also liked how this film presented to us the failure of the law in search for the truth.

  • this is a lesson what a war can bring into our lives...war can only bring struggle and poverty not so called "freedom" or "right"...

    thnx 4 uploading...:)

  • I LOVED THIS MOVIE :) So many people should appreciate such a crucial time and what such a time could do to the morals of a man and the kind of actions they resort to live a good life. THANKS for the upload man!

  • Thanks mate

  • a well done film, the subject matter--the struggle/desperation to make a living in poor economic times--is really carried through; thanks for posting

  • This is a damn sad movie =( ... thanks :D
