It's fashion, so of course you're gonna think it's untidy. Fashion is not what the viewer wants or a reflection of his/her views. It is created to reflect the artist's vision whether it appalls people or not. I have watched a video clip of Vivienne Westwood's Summer 2007 or 2008 (I don't remember which one) collection and the outfits themselves were like bits of different clothes sewn together or were raggedy shirts. The intent was for the garments to reflect her negative stance on the wealthy.
