Would you mind explaining some of the first part? What does the guy mean when he says to the lady, "Sweep soft, you witch, 'cause she don't sleep hard."
@torson1212 , he's saying that the lady he's leaving is still sleeping, so the the lady on the street sweeping should sweep softly so that she doesn't wake her.
@kirkramdath That makes sense, I probably should have looked at it a little harder. I'm actually giving a presentation on just this section of this poem, so thanks!
