Maybe, I just figure he's a good enough Link to know when he has his hookshot and when he doesn't. The only time I ever think I do when I don't is when I'll get grabbed out of a ledgehop, and then combo'd or hit out of a roll from the ledge. Most Links know when they do and when they don't.

I am a fan of all Link users because he is the most awesome Nintendo character EVER created, but I like Aniki more than Germ. Germ wave dashes way to much, but his combos are really complex ^_^

its called teching. obviously it helps you get back up faster to counter or get out of a combo. you hit L or R right before you hit the ground. you can even fall into a roll if you are holding left or right while you tech. be careful, though since its a useful technique, other pros are going to read it and act accordingly (ex. Ken)
