in Leigh when I was at school me my friend would have bet on which bus would get to the school gates first between GM Buses & Ribble, most people in Leigh & Atherton regarded Ribble as sheds on wheels or sheddy Ribble
@mistofoles They were on loan to GM Buses between 1988 and 1993 and based at Princess Road depot in Moss Side. They were used on the hotly-congested 143 route between West Didsbury and Piccadilly Gardens via Fallowfield and University
Wow, check out that old single decker Ribble bus! The number isn't clear, but that would have probably been the 25 (via Ordsall), or the 29 (via Salford Precinct)! The 25 still ran (albeit on a much truncated timetable and route) till quite recently, but they gave the 29 the boot years ago.

Back in the days when buses were buses rather than girly boxes on wheels we see in Manchester today! :(

I remember being drawn to the shiny headlight surrounds of a PR or NCME Vehicle on Oldham St.. As a kid (Prob@'73?)
Our housemate was a bus driver....I think from Liverpool originally. Called Andy i recall.
He worked from probably, Queens Road.
Anyway, he drew me a picture of his bus.
Picture perfect i remember... To the last detail!
A PR body. AN. Lost it like so many things, but. Always will remember it vividly.
Thanks Andy! X

Manchester had a huge fleet of Atlanteans which lasted until they were cleared out at Bolton, we even had a running day as a send off
