OOPS! It is only lawful now? Way back in 1995 when I did my Job Club manager training with DEETYA, we trainees were told that each night the tax office computers trolled the bank accounts of welfare recipients and matched the results with income reported to the DSS (now Centrelink). Perhaps when Centrelink was set up in 1997, the Howard Government forgot to give Centrelink the right to do what the DSS had been doing for years and so the 2008 law may have legitimized this legal blunder?

Centrelink had wasted lots of tax payers money, here is how; one asshole from Fairfield he is on disabilty support pension, he delibrately gave Centrelink false information about his friends and people he hates just to have them investigated, and Centrelink invesigated many Assyrians in the Fairfield (NSW), and this asshole was born in Kirkuk Iraq, he lives in Fairfield, this is what I call waste of tax payers money.

theres a guy near me whos on a disability support pension. The lucky cunt spends all his money on overseas travel. Last year he went to Spain, this year hes off to USA. ITs a lolly train that has never ended. I quizzed him out and told Centrelink and they did nothing. Then in APril 2008 he got questioned by Customs but the cunt is up to his tricks again this time using his stoush of tax payers money to fund trips inside Australia - staying at penthouse accom. DSS/Centrelink were always able to write to any bank and demand information deemed necessary to protect the social security system from fraud.

This is merely a new system. Just makes it easier to catch the fraudsters. Who can complain about that?

There are a lot of people who cannot work for whatever reason and so really the ones who like to put those who receive benefits down they need to take a good look at themselves in the mirror, they are not exactly perfect themselves. A not uncommon example is having your payment changed to the wrong rate, by the time you realise you can't afford to to pay it back so you can't notify them.
