  • And what would be the fatal error? My mother tongue is german, so, what did i miss??

  • itaccone iphone

  • 1:36 bill gates invented the mouse.

  • @MrBoblebob Did he? Think again.. Douglas Engelbart invented the mouse. You failed dramatically, sir.

  • @SourceBoltMedia He was being sarcastic >.<

  • @BrainSlugz No clear indication of that, sorry. Incorrectly perceived.

  • @MrBoblebob In fact, he didn't invent anything.

  • @MrBoblebob nope, invented by Xerox, and the system bought by Apple, and stolen by microsoft ,by a mistake from an apple developer, who explained how it works for a guy from microsoft :)

  • Well congratulations that you've managed to 'imagine' all these things. In the time that's passed since this video was posted, you could have easily made a window manager / UI for a linux distro that does exactly what you want, and you could have used a tablet for your fancy input device. Lot's of people 'imagine' all sorts of things. Those who want to be taken seriously actually do something about it.

  • fatal error?!?! iphone is the most successful product in history

  • Cant change it 6 months from now? is that why a new i device comes out every 6 months?

  • @SightlyAbyss are you saying it changes every 6 months?

  • There is no error in here. Computers don't need keyboard. you have an onscreen keyboard. it is just more convenient to have it physical. the same way as you can get a keyboard for the tablet. you don't need it

  • @1maxroman I don't want an on screen keyboard, i want a physical one. I hate typing on screen keyboards.

  • @SightlyAbyss you get the physical keyboard then. just like with the computer.

  • Stylus was good and they noticed that. It will be more popular on new devices.

  • ok so theres ONE button to go home he still did what he was trying to do

  • i love pressing shift key

  • notice how all the phone companies in 0:35 are dead.. lmao

  • @jeff4331 No they are not; Blackberry are booming (well at least in the UK they are) and Nokia are soon to over take many large companies with their come back featuring Windows 8 OS

  • @360lolz Erm, not quite, The future for Blackberry is 'Looking grim' (Quote from The Times) and Nokia posted a loss of 368 million euros for Q2 2011.

Personally I have had Nokia's and Blackberry's, but nothing comes close to the iPhone IMHO

  • @360lolz While their phones may be popular in a few countries, Research in Motion (TSX:RIM), of which BlackBerry is a brand, is going down. At the beginning of 2011, their stock was hovering steadily around 65$, maxing out in February at some 69 dollars. Then, as the PlayBook disappointed and the upcoming eight iteration of the BlackBerry OS (inexplicably named BBX) suffered massive delays, their stock fell to a hope-crushing 12.52 dollars, just before Christmas.

  • Lmao nice video lol I'm guessing ur an Android user

  • sorry where is the fatal error? all major smartphones use a touch screen.

  • @SuperBlackcat28 I think it's because of the home button and how he said that there's no buttons

  • Part 2:

A mouse and keyboard work well for the personal computer because there is an inherit separation between you and the experience. You shouldn't have to look at the keys/mouse to use a desktop/laptop.

A touch screen should only be used on the surface you are looking at, haptic feedback technology may solve this issue eventually, but the "iBoard" is the most counterintuitive concept I've ever seen...

  • They are calling this a "fatal error" because their stupid agency has an idea for an "iboard" which is basically just a touch screen keyboard that looks extremely uncomfortable.

The reason why you want a keyboard on a pc/laptop is the tactile feedback, because your hands are not directly in front of you, making the keyboard a touch screen is completely pointless... you would just end up looking up and down between the keyboard and the monitor.

They completely ignored the point he was making..

  • best idea ever keyboards suck

  • fatal error my ass

  • We should be able to rate the title and the content separately.

  • At least have some arguments. you made me push the spam flag.

  • Fatal error??? where?

  • imate, bitch!!

  • Lol. "A giant screen."

  • Apple didnt invent the mouse, or the bitmap screen or icons and drop down lists and theire 'revolutionary OS' is almost entirely copied off linux systems and they only got away with it because it open source. Besides that wasnt the first touch screen phone

  • @HungeryDead Linux was created in 1991. Apple had computers long before that with all that.

  • @HungeryDead Nobody cares. Linux never made computers easier to use for consumers.

  • @HungeryDead it wasnt the first, but it was the best at that time, and apple was way before linux was even a plan.

  • what's so Fatal error about this?

  • once again apple is removing basic and functional features to add pointless gimmicks.

  • @jmpatinhas15 You do realize this video is from 2007, moron?

  • @DeaconShadow

    so what

  • But how do you play Duke Nukem 3D? I can handle up to 9 buttons(strafe left, strafe right, turn left, turn right, walk forward, walk backward, shoot, LUp, LDown) on my N81, where i can only handle up to 8 buttons(strafe left, strafe right, turn left, turn right, walk forward, walk backward, LUp, LDown) on any multitouch device.

  • That's why I love my iPhone !

  • 0:03 - Nuka-Cola?

  • It's an iPhone not an ipod

  • I don't get it. So what's with the title? I just watched him announce the iPhone. Shouldn't the title be "Steve Jobs Announces the iPhone"?

  • I have the power to destroy the Illuminati. God says to me. See today I have put my words in your mouth. i HAVE SET OYU OVER NATIONS AND KINGDOMS. To uproot, to tear down, to destroy, and to overthrow. To build and to plant. Down with the Illuminati. All power in heaven and on earth, and under the sea belongs to our Lord Jesus Christ, and to me. Amen Amen.

  • umm how about making it both a physical keybaord and touch screen? Kinda like the Droid Pro. But since Steve Jobs said it it must be true.

  • @GeekTexInsight because there is literally no need for a physical keyboard if you can have a much more versatile one on the screen...

  • Where's the "fatal error"? ... ??

  • R.I.P. Steve jobs

  • it's a touchscreen... and apple calls it revolutionary... WTF

  • @johnchen0213 dude do you know whan this was made.

  • @johnchen0213 This was 5 years ago.. it was revolutionary for the time and for a phone

  • @NGUPixie nah. touchscreen was made like 7 years old, and this was made 5 years old.

  • @johnchen0213 Still look at phones now they are all trying to be like an iPhone, with the touch screen and apps ect ect

  • Comment removed

  • @NGUPixie Also, there were phones with Apps before apple. What made Apple famous was their ease of use and great marketing. That does not make them better than the competition.

  • @RickIsHung Maybe not.. but it does mean apple was better as a company than their competition.

  • @RickIsHung Their market cap and the fact they're leaders in most markets they exist, and are rising in the ones they're currently not in would disagree with that statement.

  • @johnchen0213 NOTHING like this existed before this point. At the time, this was revolutionary, in the true sense of the word. They literally changed the entire smartphone market the instant he announced it. Without it we'd still be stuck with Blackberry being the most advanced smartphones around.

  • You need to correct the title of this video. It's " Steve Jobs' Fatal Error." you illiterate dumb ass!

  • @MrBagamot IT would actually be Jobs's

  • @MrBagamot You're the illiterate dumb ass! If a word ends in 's', you still put ' 's '. Which means that 'Steve Jobs's fatal error' is correct. The only reason you would ONLY add an apostrophe is if the word is a name such as 'Moses' which should be 'Moses' '.

  • @pp2devane It's Jobs' not Jobs's. It's a name, his name is Steve Jobs.

  • @TalesOfWar

We stand correct. Pp2devane needs to go back to school and learn his/her grammar.

  • @TalesOfWar No, no, no. It doesn't matter if the word ends in 's' (such as JobS). You still add " 's " at the end. The ONLY exception is if it's an old name such as Moses where you simply add " ' " to the end (Moses'). If you don't believe me, search 'grammarbook apostrophe' in Google and if it's the right site, there should be a picture of a woman with a blue book called "The Blue Book". Have look at 'RULE 2' and reply to me that I AM right.

  • @pp2devane

    Prove it teacher.

  • @MrBagamot As I've said to 'TalesOfWar':

"It doesn't matter if the word ends in 's' (such as JobS). Have a look at 'RULE 2' and reply to me that I AM right."

    That should 'Prove it'

  • Traditionally, 'James's' was the only accepted possessive. Some style manuals of today allow just adding the apostrophe to a singular word ending in 's'. Some waffle on the issue, saying it's OK to use just apostrophe on proper names (Ross') but still use the 's with common nouns (boss's). That leads to odd things like 'Ross' boss's office'.One major source, the US Government Printing Office Style Manual, has held the line - if the singular noun ends in 's', add apostrophe +s.

  • @pp2devane

The answer is that both are correct.

  • @pp2devane My dad can beat your dad.

  • @legggggggggy Beat him at what?

It'll be quite hard for them to meet up and compare as we live on opposite sides of the globe...

  • no dude steve didnt fail you failed aand your also epic fail hjear that dirty face?!

  • How is this a fatal error? The iPhone is the most successful phone ever created, I wouldn't call that an error.

  • rip steve jobs

  • I type faster than ever on the iPhone's keyboard, much faster than I can on a Blackberry or Nokia...

  • sony ericson p800 fulltouch 2002

  • @000topgear

The error is that he showed a picture of an iPod while he was promoting the iPhone.

    XD

  • @1crazycam1 ur on crack !!! its a iphone on the screen

  • @1crazycam1 oh yah and ipods come out years after the iphone u dumbass

  • fucking hate touch screens !

  • @firemachima , touch screens are the best :X especially my samsung galaxy s2 :X:X

  • @firemachima lol good luck with any phone on the market

  • @firemachima

You know: Hardware, Software, Smearware ;)

  • hes rich and considerd a geneus for the this!

  • Where's the error, I missed it

  • I didn't get that. It was just a snip of Steve's keynotes

  • what fatal error lol?

  • @CRYOmine I know, theres no real point in this video

  • @Gioagia wtf

  • @music1stuntskicker10 ...google it ...dumbass... google.it (italia) .....probably a good product, i don t contest it s performance , ...but here in europe ....fuckin expensive !!! ....btw ..for all repressive coments towards mine ... ignorance is bliss....

  • fuck your 1700 euro lap top ... in us dollars ..3000 here in europe.... hm ... smart business man ... what about the poor people ? they will be burned alive ?

  • @Gioagla What a stupid comment.

  • @Gioagla eh?

  • I'm sorta surprised there aren't a bunch of Apple fanboys getting all mad at your use of the word "fatal." I would expect at least 5 of them trying to get you to change the title :P

  • Fatal error? Actually, 98% of all smartphones today have adapted the iPhone.

  • Best comment since this video is online! Thanks

  • We have still a Keyboard on every Computer. Whether we need it or not. The difference is on a smartphone we dont have the space for a keyboard to be there everytime on a computer we have.

sry i know my English sucks ;-)

  • what's the error?

  • @DamageIncM

But with a iPhone blind people can hear it talk to them an they can talk back

  • you guys never heard of otterbox?

problem solved, no screen damage, works great, way better than fixed keyboard, way bigger screen...whats not to like?

  • I don't understand how this was a "fatal error"...

  • where is the error?

  • Sure you remove the hardware-buttons and you can put program-buttons on a touch-screen.

But wait until you have to type on a touch-screen. It's a LOT harder to do when you can't feel the buttons.

It's like blind person trying to read without braille.

This is what I hate about touch-screens, you can aim for something and it will detect something right next to it.

And it also takes forever to type text with them.

That's the most unfortunate thing about them, but tablets with keyboards are coming.

  • @DamageIncM the iphone touchscreen is incredibly accurate. and its easy to type on. so is the ipad 2 touchscreen

  • @BlakeGoodwell

Could be accurate, but when you don't feel the buttons, you have no idea what you're hitting...

  • @DamageIncM you can clearly see what you hit. and you hit exactly what you aim for :P

  • @DamageIncM do you have eyes? are you looking at what you are touching? I'm going to put this down to "I have never actually used an iOS device keyboard in my life." Which seems pretty common on youtube comments. "I have little to no idea what I'm talking about, here is my great opinion!"

  • @ryallmackcowling

Am I looking at my keyboard right now?

    I don't think so.

Are the keys displayed on a tablet large enough for me to see past my fingers and hands?

    I don't think so.

    So that's problem.

Doesn't matter anyway, tablet with physical keyboard built in are already on the way.

    So skrew this awkward touchscreen-typing...

  • Steve Jobs don't make mistakes ! He's Steve Jobs Men !!!!!

  • That's not an error.

  • omg, so many replys! dont know where to start!

  • Anyone can draw... Did you have at least one usable product? Hm, you should know. Its exAmple, not exEmple. Keep drawing.

  • @NUNCLEFRITZ Man, STFU dude. What are you, 8?

  • The main reason a lot of people own those devices with keyboards is because they want a "real keyboard". If Apple was to come out with a phone with a real keyboard they would gain that market share. If touch screens were so great, then why don't they replace the keyboards on desktop computers? Nothing beats a real keyboard, and Blackberry has the best one despite its company problems today.

  • @billytalent1fan24

    “NO know”? huh!

  • He was truly a visionary.

  • @NUNCLEFRITZ YOU'RE A FAGGOT YOU FUCKING RACIST 8FUCKING KID TELL YOUR MAMA TO TEACH YOU MANERS BUT SHE WONT CUZ SHES A FUCKING WHORE BITCH

  • @bitchpleeeze

    yes he was

  • how is it fatal error?

  • I agree

  • What morons

  • great point by Jobs, tiny ass keyboards suck!

  • now you just tell your phone what to type...

  • What fatal error ??? It's a huge success !!!

  • @davidluk8 what? Touch screen? Yeah right...

  • From the video, I imagine that you like smartphone keyboards

  • I do agree with some here about Apple and "innovations". There are some things that Apple did not invent. they simply took something exisiting and popularised it.

Like when Steve shows pictures of their MacOS GUI and alludes to them having invented the concept. Apple didn't invent the WIMP interface, it was invented by Xerox PARC. Apple just saw it, and thought it was a good idea. But it was never an invention that they should call their own.

  • Man, this has no any relation with fatal error. Anyhow thanks for sharing):

  • fatal error?

I would say it's been rather successful

  • awww :( i wish he didn't die. he was such a genius! THUMBS UP if you agree.

  • whats the fatal error?

  • You know that the keyboard to a monitor is not nessecary since there is an application to our systems called: Keyboard. Which is a keyboard, but inside the computre so really when people think he fails with saying the computer is not operational without it are just not that technologically correct. The keyboard we are familiar with is just an easier way to do it on.

  • yep, make a giant screen, and keep reselling it repackaged every 6 months as something 'new'

  • @0banon People buy it. So why not, they're the idiots who don't wait for something amazing to change. I don't see the attraction to an iPhone. I have a Galaxy S2 Android.

  • Fuck you apple haters if it wasn't for him you wouldn't have YouTube anyways

  • @awskwang Obvious troll is obvious.

  • He talks it up like it takes a genius to think of making a touch screen phone *cough*ipaq*cough*

  • @TimBell87 WTF is iPAQ?

  • @glosarity See people - This is why apple's complete rubbish is so popular, if people actually realised how old the technology really was then there would be a very different story.

FYI for those who don't know - the iPAQ was a touch screen PDA/smartphone first unveiled by Compaq in April 2000 and by 2003/2004 boasted every major feature currently attributed to the original iPhone as having pioneered plus a little bit more with the only notable exception being capacitive multitouch.

  • @TimBell87

if the ipaq is so wonderful then why is it you never see them around? It is NOTHING even close to the iPhone, it’s an antiquated piece of crap. I think at last count Compaq sold about 12 of them.....LMAO

  • @lennyf1957 Wow, you seem to have completely missed my point, please read it properly and get back to me.

    Thanks.

  • @TimBell87

well I read your post again. And this time I read it “properly”.

  • @lennyf1957 Good for you! Did you learn something?

  • @TimBell87

Nothing that I didn’t know the 1st time I read it.

  • @lennyf1957 Son, I am dissapoint.

  • @TimBell87

    sorry.....DAD

  • Comment removed

  • @tmarrero12341 Sidenote - you may be interested to know that tablet PCs were even available as far back as Windows 3.11, I can't remember the model number but Toshiba made one.

  • @TimBell87 I didn't know that detail. Thanks for the update.

  • @glosarity

that is what you call an iPad in Iraq.

  • A giant screen that barely responds, and causes u 2 stay longer typing words in, and dialing wrong numbers. Piece of shit. Not to mention when u plug it into a computer it can easily be erased by itunes. Peace of junk. Not to mention you have to buy cheap applications. Droids are better they are the pc of phones, and have way more features. And the phone will lock up horribly. Gaming on it is also horrible. Its junk 10 yrs from now it will be thrown with the old apple computers.lol

  • @ElCantanteIntrepete

    LMAO.....thank you Mr Gates

  • Fucking idiot u must be poor and u can't buy an iPhone

  • @FRIRC

no, he’s a brain dead droid lemming

  • @FRIRC Nah, who needs a an communication device with touch screen? You love to have even less battery life and those "awsome" application? There's absolutely no point of touch screen at all, or else you really need those toys it has, shorter battery life and its way bigger vulnerability to damage.

  • Comment removed

  • This video is a clear example of spam on youtube.

  • These idiotic apple lovers need to understand this fucktard didn invent anything at all.. he just used technology that was here since the late 60´s and applied it to a stupid phone..

I love when idiots say that crapple invented touch screen technology..

  • @qcenaman i dont think any of the technology that he used was from the 60s

  • @dreamsarestillalive

of course it wasn’t. qcenaman is just another pea brain Apple bashing ‘droid lemming

  • @lennyf1957 haha.
