@darrenmuse It's about a 5 minute walk, say 1/4-1/3 mile away. Not next door. It was actually a boring game (6-0 at that point) and that drive was the only good LSU moment. There was a lot of pent up emotions by that point in the game.
all i gotta say is last 5 NATIONAL CHAMPS are SEC teams...and then if u look back at the BCS champs only 2 teams won it twice first one being LSU and then FLA
You have to take into consideration that Baton Rouge is on the Mississippi River Delta.... ergo underneath it and most of Southern Louisiana is pretty much nothing but mud, silt, and clay. Needless to say, seismic energy doesn't transfer well through the ground down here compared to elsewhere.
Honestly, (to the ppl who think the SEC is Over-rated) do yall really think that a team from the Pac/10/12/ACC can beat the best in the SEC. No. We think of a game outside the SEC as a BYE week. LSU-AU-BAMA-FU take turns every year on who will own the NCAA. I'm a LSU fan and I cheer for whatever team goes to the BCS even though I fucking hate half of the teams in the SEC. It's that deep respect that makes our conference so good. Cause we would rather die then lose to our rivals.
AU vs. LSU has become one of my favorite rivalries. As an AU grad I don't even mind being on the losing side when there's a cool story like this to go along with it.

Well we always go there and did not expect the whole resort of Portifino to be dominated by LSU fans. the pools the beach, etc. it was like lsu was actually playing in pensacola. Geaux Tigers! This isn't impressive at all. I work at a campus seismograph station and it registers when a truck drives by on the interstate. Put one of these in the right place and you could get a reading at a tee-ball game.

@docplux .first of all, ur not very educated because its quite easy to cause the ground to shake. It was only a 2.0 i believe. Vocal is a type of sound. Sound can cause the ground to shake. Air shows, you see the plane go by and feel the ground to shake because of the impact of the noise. LSU's crowd noise was so intense that it caused the ground to shake. Its just hard to believe because it's the first and could possibly be the only time this would happen.

My mother works in the geology building, and she came home from work that Monday and told us about it. Everytime we walked down that building afterwards, we'd jump up and down in the hall next to where it was located and tried to make it move. :D My first LSU football memory!

Hey "therealmryeah", funny you should mention Texas Tech, because Ole Miss destroyed them in the cotton bowl last year. LSU crushed Georgia Tech, Florida dominated Oklahoma. Its funny how even now there are still haters when the SEC shows why they are the best by putting 8+ teams in bowl games, and usually only losing 1 or 2 of those games. We dont have to go out of conference because we are the best. Ask the Big 10/12/ACC if the SEC is overrated.

Umm.. yes they would have. LSU lost their last game of the season. After that, everybody thought they were done. I have buddy who worked it out and laid out exactly what needed to happen for LSU to have any shot at getting into the BCS championship game. It was a long shot.. several very unlikely things had to happen. Several upsets. And guess what.. all of it happened. The stars aligned and every one of those things happened, and we already knew LSU would be in the championship game.
LSU only had two losses that year.. both of which came in TRIPLE OVERTIME to teams who made it to bowl games. They beat #9 Virginia Tech team by 41 points. They won the SEC championship. They beat the #9, #14, #7, #18, #19, #15 and of course, the #1 teams that year. That is an absolutely brutal schedule. And they beat them all. They only lost to #18 Kentucky and a tough, rival Arkansas team.

You guys would be one of the smallest, if not the smallest SEC stadiums, and Washington would be a little less than average. The Vols and Bama both hold over 100,000. LSU is considered by many to be the loudest and best place to watch a college football game. In football, the SEC is much better than the PAC10

@docplux .first of all, ur not very educated because its quite easy to cause the ground to shake. It was only a 2.0 i believe. Vocal is a type of sound. Sound can cause the ground to shake. Air shows, you see the plane go by and feel the ground to shake because of the impact of the noise. LSU's crowd noise was so intense that it caused the ground to shake. Its just hard to believe because it's the first and could possibly be the only time this would happen.

From top to bottom the SEC has so much more depth than the PAC 10. If Oregon had to play an SEC schedule, they "might" be in the middle of the pack. But not in the elite.

Hey "therealmryeah", funny you should mention Texas Tech, because Ole Miss destroyed them in the cotton bowl last year. LSU crushed Georgia Tech, Florida dominated Oklahoma. Its funny how even now there are still haters when the SEC shows why they are the best by putting 8+ teams in bowl games, and usually only losing 1 or 2 of those games. We dont have to go out of conference because we are the best. Ask the Big 10/12/ACC if the SEC is overrated.

Umm.. yes they would have. LSU lost their last game of the season. After that, everybody thought they were done. I have buddy who worked it out and laid out exactly what needed to happen for LSU to have any shot at getting into the BCS championship game. It was a long shot.. several very unlikely things had to happen. Several upsets. And guess what.. all of it happened. The stars aligned and every one of those things happened, and we already knew LSU would be in the championship game.

LSU only had two losses that year.. both of which came in TRIPLE OVERTIME to teams who made it to bowl games. They beat #9 Virginia Tech team by 41 points. They won the SEC championship. They beat the #9, #14, #7, #18, #19, #15 and of course, the #1 teams that year. That is an absolutely brutal schedule. And they beat them all. They only lost to #18 Kentucky and a tough, rival Arkansas team.

The SEC regular season schedule includes: Kentucky, Miss. State, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, S Car, Tennessee, Arkansas, and a falling Auburn team.
The SEC sports 2-3 good teams a year, one or usually overrated, maybe 1-2 average teams, but the rest is absolute trash, period.
7-15 vs. Pac-10 11-13 vs. Big Ten.

ole miss also creamed texas tech, and LSU RAPED georgia tech. funny how in conference games are so close and non conference games are total blowouts. vandy, south carolina, and kentucky are decent teams on the rise that have really hard schedules. im pretty sure usc (university of south carolina....your probably to stupid to know that) has a top 10 toughest schedule. auburn will be back, theres no doubt about that, along with tennessee. but in the end, LSU owns them all!

That's why the Big Ten not only has more Starters in the NFL but has more pro bowlers, that also be why the SEC has a losing record in the Big Ten, and the Pac1+9.
That must also be why SEC teams never travel north, it's always why Big Ten teams always have to travel south.

Big Ten has the series lead on the SEC by 20 games bro, teams like Michigan which are 21-5 and Penn State which are 16-6 make the SEC look silly, even the worst team in the Big Ten is 26-21 against the SEC (Indiana).
And Ohio State, although not nice in bowl games is 15-11-1.
