Yes they do a 3 hour set and it is without a doubt the best concert you will ever go to. They are absolutely stunning in concert. I have been to well over 200 concerts RUSH is the top that all others are judged against and so far in my opinion no one comes close to what these three guys can do on stage.
This is why the guys in RUSH are still cool in the minds of their devoted fans..They have never let fame and fortune go to their heads..They strayed away from the Rock Star Image,The typical Rock and Roll Lifestyle..They are still down to earth guys which makes them so unique.
@cragmac1000 I agree. I've been listening to those 2 bands forever and I still do, and still love em both. I seen Kim at the Metcalfe fair about 3 years ago, he stills his an amazing guitar player and his vocals are way underated. and I saw, Rush last year and yes they put on a 3 hours show they are still my favorite band of all time.
ImHye75...I agree about wishing they could play longer because they have so much great material. But, in this time, at their age and if you read the "Conteents under Pressure" book by Martin Popoff, they go into depth about making the show as long as it is. Actually, Neil wanted it edited down and tried to shorten the set list. But, Geddy stood pretty firm about keeping show and set list as he drew it up. The only battle lost; he couldn't sway them (Neil & Alex) to add "Closer to the Heart".
In response to Geddy's comment, I wish they would play longer than 3 hours. They have so much great material that 3 hours seems too short, but I'll take whatever I can get. :)
It's like he's great in Rush and you wish he was your next door neighbor. It would be like he would be one of these guys you see in the morning and you would say, "Hey Geddy, another tour huh?" And Geddy will say, "Yeah back to the old grindstone." Totally unpretentious view of himself.
Snakes and arrows is one of the best Rush albums ever made, they are much better musicians now then they ever were, just open your ears! I'm 42, listened to Rush since I was 8, they are much better now... even though I love all the old stuff too....... comparing kim mitchell to Rush is like comparing a ford pinto to a ferrari!!! Get real dummy!
Be careful here. Max Webster/Kim Mitchell are hardly the worth comparing. Max Webster was a really inventive and fun band, who wrote some great songs. And on his own Kim Mitchell proved to be a pretty solid pop music artist.
yes and no, I had not bought or heard a rush album since 1981. I thought the first and last track on snakes were great - like the old days - but some average stuff in between. Would like to see them live again though!
Kim Mitchell, for those who don't know, is the voice and guitar of Max Webster, who toured with Rush many times it seems... I saw them open for Rush on Moving Pictures tour... Rush recorded the song "Battlescars" with them for their Universal Juveniles album... EXCELLENT STUFF!!!
Most people watching these video's aren't as old as me (43), so I well remember those days, and still live them. I was playing Max's "Universal Juveniles" today in fact. So I don't get why they all play this lying game today, where although Rush are enourmously successful, Kim is/was hugely talented, and virtually one of them (Battlescar), and not just some lowly interviewer. You know what I mean? It's as if they're lying to us, counting on the fact that most of us are too young to know this
That's a strange observation. I'm 46, saw MW when they used to tour with Rush. "Check This Out" - This video is from THE KIM MITCHELL SHOW, so dude, that's what it IS. No one is trying to put Kim down...
Also, muscially speaking, I'd take Kim's older work any day to the stuff that Rush are creating today. Does the industry control us so much that we're literally supposed to blind to all this? I guess so.
i feel bad for all of them cause they gotta do all of these sick solos and stuff theyve got to get tired sometime THEIR NOT MACHINES specially neil peart his 7 minute drum solo has to get him tired but i guess their used to it THEIR AWESOME
Great work ethic and attitude. You know when you tired and don't want to push on but do anyway the rewards are great. Life is bittersweet but it's all worth it.
He's great! Wonderful attitude, sweet sentiment. I can't imagine the exhaustion, and I drive only 4 hours 2x a week to my country house. I'm so glad they pace themselves better than the grueling tours of the past.

Kim Mitchell's music was so underrated. Not a week goes by when I don't listen to his music.

@theburyboys Amen. I get so tired of people asked who it is when I play them, and then, when I say Max Webster, they say "who's he?"
