  • Petty pulled down on Davey. Don't get me wrong i like Kyle but there was no

    need to wreck Davey

  • kyle petty in my opinion is and always will be the biggest no tallent piece of shit in nascar so what he won a couple race's big whoop ,i never liked that pony tail wanna be country singer now TnT's rearded reporter ,dont like him never will

  • If Davey and Allen would've never died, Earnhardt would not have 7, and Gordon would not have 4.

  • @verizon20051 what if. Stop living in the past fool

  • Since when have we been blaming Kyle for spinning Dale. Dale got loose, they didn't even touch. And you can't get mad at Kyle for spinning Allison. He didn't turn left into Davey. They were HOOKED TOGETHER when they crossed the line. If the frontstretch didn't have a quad-oval, Allison wouldn't have spun.

  • Still one of the best finishes ever!!. Davey is still my fav driver and looking back on this just reminds me of how great he was, but things just screwed him. His life was just full of stuff like this, you win but as soon as you do you get hurt so bad you can't so celebrate.

  • The comment was made by Buddy Baker...

  • All this hating on Kyle Petty is crazy...He was racing hard not trying to hurt Davey(R.I.P). Earnhardt(R.I.P) got a taste of his own medicine and it was prolly the most exciting finish ever in my opinion. I usually went to all the races in Charlotte when I was a kid and this was the only one I couldn't go to, my parents went and saw the greatest finish...now that's some bullshit!!! lol

  • Remember this race very well. They dubbed it "One Hot Night" and it lived up to it's moniker. Buddy Baker and Neil Bonnett, two great racers and two of the best announcers as well. RIP Neil.

They ran night races when they raced at Nashville Speedway years ago.

  • what was the first NASCAR night race? I know it's not this one because I have seen videos of a short track from the 80's that are at night, and I am not sure if it's richmond, bristol, or the north wilksboro raceway.

  • @flubber342

Of the current races, Bristol was the first to run at night. They ran night races at Nashville and other places years ago, but I think Bristol first ran under the lights in 1981 or 82. Richmond first did in 1990, and since '98 both Cup races have been at night. Wilkesboro never ran at night.

  • @flubber342 thanks man

  • What a pussy. He knew he had lost the race coming to the start/finish line so he decided to dump Allison. I like Kyle and respect him as an old school driver but there are times in his racing career i shake my head.

  • It's not often you see a guy spin out 2 different leaders within half a lap of each other on the last lap, and STILL lose. That's Kyle Petty for you....what a joke

  • I hated my beloved Davey was wrecked, but this was a time when you could get excited about racing. I remember jumping up and down in our living room screaming at the tv screen. It's not the same anymore. We've lost too many of the greats. Miss you Davey and Dale!

  • As an aside, Kyle Petty was a piece of shit for turning Davey like that in the tri-oval at Charlotte. That is EXTREMELY dangerous. The announcers knew it too.

  • One Hot, and Wild Night

  • If u look closely, it doesn't even look like Petty touched Earnhardt. I could be wrong, that's just what i saw.

  • @TheJawsFan24 You are right! Finally someone noticed! Earnhardt's car was likely loose already. Worn tires something of the like. The air changed when Petty came to pass on the low side and sent him around. Petty was going for a sidedraft and Earnhardt's car got sideways and that was all she wrote.

  • SUCK PETY

  • davey allison came by and said hi to all the employee's at bunker hill meats in va. He was a really nice man who related to the working class and at ease with them.I always thought the world of him after he came by the plant and wanted to meet the workers and not just the bosses.

  • And to add on to what I had previously stated, Davey should've won the championship in 1992. Usually I have a tremendous amount of respect for Ernie Irvan; The replacement driver who was hired by Yates. At Atlanta, whenever Ernie sustained a flat tire, and spun out on the front-straightaway just ahead of Davey, it seemed like he got screwed over and was unfortunately involved in the incident. However you really couldn't blame either of them because Ernie just checked up right in front of Davey.

  • @Brandon01ford1 I guarantee you that Davey would've been a multiple champion throughout the remainder of his promising career. It's a real shame, because he possessed the potential to become one of the greatest stock car drivers of all time. His team owner Robert Yates said after observing Davey compete all those years that he was more talented than his father, you know Bobby Allison. And that's a quite a statement considering Bobby is still currently 3rd overall on the all time victory list.

  • I know that Davey would've beat Dale out a couple of times for the Championship. Dale even said it himself in an interview he did in 1997. I'm an Earnhardt, and an Allison fan. Once Jeff Gordon came into the sport I believe it would have been a fantastic rivalry between the three of them (Allison, Earnhardt, and Gordon) for the rest of the 90's. The early 1990's was the peak of professional stock car racing (NASCAR), and now Sprint has completely altered the sport. R.I.P. Davey, and Dale.

  • @TornadoIndy - NASCAR's decline (IMO) started in 1992 when you lost Allison and Kulwicki. Kulwicki wasn't a big family name like Allison but he was self-made. He would have been a fan favorite for years to come. In a span of nine years two of NASCAR's greatest families had their bloodlines snuffed out (Davey Allison and Adam Petty) and the other family, the Earnhardts, was forever damaged.

  • I turned 13 the day after Davey Allison died. My parents had taken me birthday shopping at a flea market the weekend before. I picked out four things...three of which were Davey Allison memorablilia. I had no idea that a few short days later, my favorite driver would be dead and those birthday presents would mean and be worth so much. It broke my heart when Davey Allison died and watching these videos about him now, 17 years later, just brings back that sorrow again.

  • I was at this race, hell of a finish. I was with some old guys who had been to nearly every race at CMS before this one and they said this was one of the best finishes ever at that race track. I was a huge Allison fan in those days and had money on Davey to win this race. I never bet but I did on that night and even when Earnhardt spun I still didn't think #28 had a chance. Man, it's hard to decide whats better when you win a bet: is it the money or the right to talk some serious shit lol?!

  • Davey was the man....i wish he was still with us so we could see his footprint in all the record books. he was a great talent that was taken far too soon. RIP Davey.

  • "Davey Allison coming up but I dont think he is going to be a factor" ;-)

  • Poor Kyle Petty, Wrecked both of them and still couldn't win.

  • Ok, ok, i did some more research on it (watched the tape over again) and i forgot about Allison. Your right, sorry to attempt to correct you. lol Mybad. But that was an awesome race! Btw your videos are great, keep em comin'.

  • @berad0367 Sorry to correct you, but, it was 1992. Davey Allison died in 1993, so there's no way this race could have been in 1994.

  • @avenged7fold332 this is true, it was 1992

  • @avenged7fold332 Lol good fight

  • @berad0367 your tape is wrong.

  • @berad0367

nope it was 92. I remember this night very very well.

  • @berad0367 Your probably thinking of 1994 when Ernie Irvan who was also racing in the 28 had a very similar crash to Davey's battling Geoff Bodine for the win on the last lap

  • @berad0367 You have no clue what youre talking about....

There's no way this is the 1994 All Star race.

Davey Allison and Alan Kulwicki are in this race, and they both died in 1993.

    Explain that then, Mr. Knowitall

  • @berad0367 Yeah, I was at the race. 1992. Memories.

  • @berad0367

If I remember right Geoff Bodine won it in '94. In any case, I remember this race, the first one at Charlotte under the lights...and there is no way it could be '94, because Davey passed in July of 1993.

  • wish Allison was still with us, damn...

  • @fastlap48 You and me both. Davey had the heart and the skills of a champion. If he were still alive, I would still be watching.

  • Is this whole race on here?

  • At the risk of sounding like an idiot, I'm going to say that I don't see contact between Earnhardt and Petty. I think Kyle got so close to him that Earnhardt just lost.

  • @ShotgunDolphin Yeah, I think you might be right. It looks like he might have just taken the air off of the back of his car.

  • So Kyle Petty took out two legends who are now dead on the final turn of the 1992 Winston.

He obviously intentionally turned Earnhardt in Turn 3, then he turned into Allison in the dogleg of the track.

Damn, Allison took a hard lick in that wall

  • alllison is liucky he didnt die right then

  • @24jeffgordan88JRfan Shoot, he was lucky he didn't die at Pocono in 1992 when he flipped like 7 times. He had nine lives but the Winston 500 took one of them, Pocono took about 7 of them and he only had one left by the time of his helicopter crash. So sad...

  • @Blackout690 no dale fan should ever have nerve to say a word about him being turned by someone else.God rest him I mourned him--but that was HIS stock in trade.

  • @pappy154451956

I'm not following what your saying

  • how did he go to victory lane if he was injured

  • @NASCARFAN328 they still did the victory lane celebration thing even though allison wasnt there

  • @NASCARFAN328 He didn't, he spent that night in a hospital.

  • @NASCARFAN328 He didn't go to victory lane...they took him straight to the hospital

  • I heard that Allison was injured just a little bit in this accident ALL BECAUSE OF PETTY

  • Yes he was injured but if you have watched the race for your self Earnhardt did the same thing to Petty but at the end of the day it was one of the better races you would ever see. The no. 3, no. 28, and the the 42 flat out until the finish, gimme a break.

  • 0.17-- "I don't think Allison will be a factor." Yeah, right!...

  • Petty turned allison after the finish. What a chicken shit maneuver.

  • You dumbass! Kyle didn't mean for that too happen. It was just racing but did you know that Davey experienced an "Out of the body experience" after this crash. Just google "Davey Allison Story" and you'll find it, it's such an amazing story to read!

  • Wrong. Kyle turned him on purpose.

  • @macaddict3032 Totally. I was working for RYR at the time and in the pits and winner's circle that night. Davey had to go to the hospital. He was hurt badly. The car was finished. We thought at the time that Sabates might have ordered Petty to take out the car, which was named 007, because it was a very strong racer, been doing very well. Nothing came of that, but anyway it sucked being in victory lane because it was all somber rather than festive.

  • @macaddict3032 A lot of guys have done this.

  • @macaddict3032 No, I think Davey went up, not Kyle going down.

  • @macaddict3032 I know Kyle personally. It was an accident. He thought he had the clearance and did not.

  • @ArmadeusXxC

If you know Kyle, you would have been better off (for his sake) saying he just made a mistake because there is NO way that he did not dump Allison. He wasn't even mid-door when he turned left in to Allison in the tri-oval.

I am 100% for what he did to Earnhardt as senior blocked the hell out of him and Kyle did a MASTERFUL job at spinning Earnhardt without just running him over.

A case of not respecting fellow driver safety with Allison.

  • @macaddict3032 i watched this on TV when i was a kid...i remember thinking "he must be mad 'cause Allison passed him"....very dangerous crash and bad move by an otherwise classy guy.....(petty)

  • @macaddict3032 wrecked two guys and still didnt win he sux and thats why hes a commentator

  • @macaddict3032 No, Davey got into him at the finish line

  • @macaddict3032 You should watch petty's line and then watch the part of the video a second time and watch allison's line, allison came up his line into kyle, so no, that wreck was allison's fault, not kyle's

  • I loved nascar around this time

  • @gdwag01 same here. nascar was so much better in the 90s.

  • Damn, Kyle was a DICK that night!

Spun Earnhardt in Turn 4, the spun Davey right as soon as he crossed the checkered! lol.

    RIP Dale Earnhardt

    RIP Davey Allison

  • What the hell was earnhardt doing!?!?

  • 1992 only race dale one was the 600. You always want to be sitting in 3rd at this race and the BUSCH CLASH i will always call it when it comes down to the wire.

  • I bet Earnhardt was PISSED.

  • petty isnt his dad

  • at 0:30 it sounds like someone yells shit

  • This was before I could watch Cup each week (no cable tv at my house until 1996), but watching videos here on YT, it seems like Davey had some vicious wrecks in his time. Especially '92! This race, Pocono... and then he gets wrecked at Atlanta to lose the title.... that sucks.

  • lol 2 stacks in 1 lap.

  • was that bobby allison who said, "he won the race but sure payed the price for it."

  • Buddy Baker

  • @thewal96 it was neil bonnett

  • That's how kyle petty races if you pass him he wrecks you. Watch closely. As he's getting passed and turns the car left before the start/finish line.

  • i think we should kyle petty driving lesons....OH WAIT MABY HE SHOULD HIS DAD'S RACING SHOOL

  • kyle didnt touch dale...if dale was 2nd he would have bumped kyle...... thanks for the win davey . you were class just like the rest of the allisons and the alabama gang. you are the only reason i watch nascar today. R.I.P

  • I know this is going to be hard to answer, but there was a piece of music played, it was a guitar solo, would anyone by chance happen to know who did that piece of music.

  • Victory celebrations went on even if the driver was not present, the whole 28 team spent the night in the hospital, I heard Davey's first words when he came to was "Did we win?, Did we win?" and Larry MacReynolds told him "Yes Davey, we won".

  • Was great to see Earnhardt get run over in this event back then!

  • Good times. I think Nascar needs more aggressive drivers nowadays

  • Yeah, all the good, real drivers are gone now. Davey and Dale were two of the best

  • @timekeeperstudios maybe NASCAR should give out 5 bonus points to the first driver every race to take out Kyle Busch. It would make it (possibly) easier for somebody else to win a championship, Kyle would end up taking everyone elses ass out, more people decide to watch races because everyones out to kill each other. The cars are safer than back in the day, so let them do what the did back then.

  • @XxPunk1995xX That wasn't Kyle Busch. That was Kyle Petty.

  • kyle petty was going to try to win at all costs

  • ANY driver worth their salt would have done the same thing Earnhardt did on the last lap, so to act like him blocking to try to win is wrong is dumb. He was doing everything he could to win the race and that's what it's all about. He knew what he was getting into when he made that move. He had a bad line going into turn three which along with getting the air taken off the spoiler caused him to spin. I never heard him complain about the finish of this race other than he wished he could've won it.

  • Totally agree with everything you said there OlsonFan. It's about winning and they weren't racing for points. That's what it's all about. All Dale said was, "wow."

  • that was when the "Winston" was cool, not the circus show that it is today! I used to really look forward to that race, one of my favorite of the year, and Davey was my Driver! RIP

  • Sucks how badly the "suits" have ruined NASCAR. That stupid piece of crap "car of tomorrow" really is a piece of shit and nastycar won't admit it. The censor the drivers as to what they can can not say, they have just ruined what used to be a great sport. Now I wouldn't go to race if the tickets were free. I don't watch them TV either, NASCAR SUCKS!!!! They can shove their 'car of tomorrow" up their asses. My money won't go anywhere near NASTYCAR!!!!!!!!!!

  • The COT totally sucks. All those safety features that probably saved Michael McDowell in Texas, Jeff Gordon in Las Vegas and Carl Edwards this past weekend.

Damn NASCAR for making a safer car so drivers can continue to race and not get injured.

  • the COT sucks, but why do you want drivers to get hurt?

  • I was being sarcastic. Other people hate the COT, but I love it, makes the drivers safer, and as long as they are safe, they'll keep racing, we'll keep watching.

  • alot of people wont be watching if the COT keeps boring the fans..... But I will only quit watching NASCAR if Jimmie wins another freakin championship.

  • Anyone have an extended version of this?

  • Im so glad i found this...i was there ..sitting right where Allison stopped. Man that was an awsome thing to watch....thanks for posting it.

  • I was sitting in turn 4. Small world, huh? lol

  • Long live davey ....what a finish.

  • dale was ticked

  • hey jasonM no Wally aint no champ of nothing but his grandmas back yard let him winn a cup or ok we will just ask him to try to win in ARCA give it a shot and then let him try to talk about a cup race.....

  • He spun someone who was notorious for wrecking people to win, and the deal with Davey spinning was an accident. And they hit each other at the line. Tends to happen on a bumpy racetrack @ 190mph.

  • Out of Dale's 76 wins how many of them came on last lap wrecks where he hit them out of the way. One, maybe two. Not a lot

  • That's because with many of his wins, he knocked most of his competitors out of the way early on in the race. NASCAR once fined him $25,000 for such actions during a time when $25,000 was a lot of money. Look it up.

  • I know more Earnhardt knowledge than about anyone. They fined him and he never paid it! A lot of that was just for show. One of the reason there was wrecks because they weren't smart enough to get out of his way when they were holding it up. It's about ratings, and Nascar did what they had to do to get them.

  • Just as Earnhardt wasn't smart enough to get out of the way here.

  • lol, dumb ass comment

  • No, he was just trying to win the race...

  • damn u kyle!!!! that was Earnhardt's race!

  • Davey! Davey! for the ages

  • amazing

  • What a finish!!! I remember that race as it was being broadcast and Allison being admitted to the Emergency Room.

  • Doesn't Mike Joy mean, One hot, and wild night?

  • I kinda wish Kyle still had intensity like that still in him today...

  • Yea. He used to be a real good driver. Rockingham was pretty much his house in the early 90's.

  • Too bad the races at Charlotte these days are boring. To me it did not look like Kyle hit Earnhardt but got the air off the rear spoiler. Anyone else agree?

  • I remember watching this race and it was just some hard racing, after it was said and done no one was crying and bitching like they do in nascar today.

  • Earnhardt's response to the finish of the race was simple, and very true. "Wow!"

  • I was a teenage kid sitting in the stands off of Turn 4 at this race. Seeing this video always brings back some great memories of that day & night.

  • That would kinda suck I think...To win the race, but have to celebrate it at the hospital...:S

  • Thats what you get petty you dick you fucked earnhardt over on that race

  • you are an idiot, earnhardt runs petty to the grass and it's petty's fault? earnhardt was the best at cheap shots and taking leaders out,you can see where that got him!

  • And for every time that someone "fucked earnhardt over", he fucked them over ten times as much. You run someone over enough times to win a race, they're eventually going to return the favor.

Kyle got his first win because Earnhardt just had to run over Waltrip @ Richmond in '86, after which NASCAR lightened Dale's bank account by $25,000 (a lot of money back then).

  • In my opinion the best Winston ever.

  • I miss Buddy Baker's commentary. Buddy knows everything about stock car racing. He was the best racing analyst.

  • does anyone have the winston where there was a big mess bettween the 3 and 17(darell waltirp) that was one of the best races

  • this was back before nascar padded the sport to accomadate all the new panzis in the sport today nascar will never be what it once was

  • I was at this race, Davey's car came to a stop directly in front of us. we watched them get him out.

  • Mike Joy has always been a great commentator.

  • mike joy aint that great as such a ommentator as ken squier or bob jenkins. he hypes things up too much and plus hes not serious like bob jenkins and ken squier are he jokes to much him and darrel thats what i hate about it. thet can go the whole broadcast just talking about themselves and not the racing. bob jenkins and ken squier were serious never joke about things that shouldnt bee joked about.

  • You can't always take life so seriously.

  • yea i agree its just there has to be a line where certain things have to be serious and not taken as a joke all the time.

  • I'd rather hear a racing champion do racing commentary anyday. I thought it was a joke when NBC hired Wally Dallenbach to do the driver commentary...lmao

  • Wally Dallenbach Jr was a racing champion. 2 SCCA Trans Am championships, 4 wins in the 24 Hours of Daytona, 3 wins in the 12 Hours of Sebring, and a win at the Pikes Peak Hillclimb. One of the best American road racers ever.

  • True, but when he went to NASCAR, he pretty much flopped. Too bad, too. He seems like a nice guy.

  • it also sounded like somethin was wrong with mike. he was so excited about the finish but, he wasnt worried about davey like the other announcers.

  • Kyle didn't hit E in turn 3, E ran him off the racetrack down the backstetch though, then Kyle just took the air off the spoiler and away went Earnhardt.

As for Davey, Kyle said he crossed the S/F and just lost his focus after crossing. Also said it is one of the greatest regrets he has in his racing career that Davey couldn't go to Victory Lane that night.

  • oh so petty STP4387 the reason why davey hit the wall was becuase he lost his focus...lol thats a dumb logic last time i checked he got tapped by petty....kyle petty.

  • i said they both lost their focus - cross the the line, exhale, oh no we're still driving!

Kyle has said it was one of the biggest regrets of his career that Davey couldn't go to VL that night....

  • oh thought you meant somethin else.

  • I also heard Kyle say in an interview a few years later that he had regrets about what happened.

  • man that could of been fatal davey hit that concreate wall driver side first extremely hard.

  • yeah, no shit, kyle petty could have killed him.

  • Man, what happened to Kyle Petty.

Also, for all you NASCAR fans who came along in the past few years, that 3 and 28 car were probably two of the greatest drivers and cars ever. I remember my dad telling me when Davey Allison died and he couldn't even get it out. A man we never met or knew, and my father couldn't talk. God bless 3 and God bless 28.

  • Ya can't beat beat a race like that one.

  • I heard Davey's first response after it was "did we win?, did we win?" and Larry McReynolds said "yes we won". Weird victory lane celebration with no driver though just a mangled 28 car.

  • yeah i remember this race like it was yesterday..i have this race recorded but not the last final laps because it ran out of tape. I was so mad that Earnhardt didn't win! However he was able to win the coca cola 600 the following weekend which was his only points race victory of the year. Either way that was one hell of a race for the fans!

  • awesome racing!!

  • Petty never touched Earnhardt... he just took the air off his spoiler. I guess that's what Earnhardt gets for blocking. "Rattled his cage a little" as it's been said (by Earnhardt).

  • Great finish. Earneardt had a string of bad luck about that time. Blew Daytona with a flat tire in turn three on the last lap too. It's a pretty boy parade these days.

  • That was 1990.

  • It was actually 1992.

  • all therse years and still that is the best finish ever in the all star race

  • kyle dumped him lol

  • i like pie

  • Lol Kyle Petty is still Just that pathetic to this DAY! I havent seen him qualify or even finish in the top 20 for god knows how many years. Yeah Earnhardt's Karma Eventually builded up and got to him but at least that sick old son of a bitch could win a god damn race Rof. #3 "The Intimidator" made the sport what it is today for all of you hicks that think he was a shity and pour driver.

  • not to spoil it, but kyle finished 3rd in the coke 600 this year.

  • And before that, when was the last time Petty finished in the Top 5, let alone Top 10.

  • finished 9th at bristol in 2006. but yes, kyle petty does blow now.

  • Kyle finished 3rd at Charlotte in the Coke 600 this past May. Think before you open your mouth son.

  • Thats just racing

  • lol i remember watching this live thinking Kyle Petty went insane.

  • "Kyle Petty coming to the checkered flag." "Here comes Davey Allison to the bottom!!"

  • One of the greatest calls in all of sports was that right there.

  • Davey Allison was awesome and if he hadnt passed, he probably wins at least 3 championships. RIP Davey.
