  • How can someone in the western world be so completely ignorant-and, from what it seems here, PROUD of- knowing NOTHING about the Bible?

Damn, what an ignorant tv show hostess...

  • You know one thing I don't get...

People say we're going to hell for not abiding by the laws of "God" and yet would they explain the faits off all the other ethinic groups around the world who do not share the same views of "God" they do? What happens to them, do they go to hell for not believing in that god or what?

    RIP Harvey, we miss you.

  • Sean Penn Really REALLY REALLY Nailed the actual Harvey Milk

  • He was such a well-spoken elegant man. RIP.

  • @oxIJMxo he was for sure

  • People always fear what they don't understand. We are all the same. We are all deserving of love. People are who they are. That's it. Gay, straight, bi, transgendered. We all live on this giant rock for such a small amount of time. And then we're gone. Why make other people's lives more difficult because of your own insecurities and weaknesses? That's no way to live.

  • @burrs9 there's love in your heart

  • @burrs9 cute. make up an argument that coats your dislike of something but is not factual. you're not the first person to do so, and surely not the last.

  • @burrs9 it's alright that you're jealous. but insulting him wont make you anywhere near as inspirational as he was. do better, then you can insult him - until then, hold your tongue in a hero's presence.

  • This man is a fucking HERO

  • I'm not gay but I find it disgusting that in 2011 we are not much farther evolved in our thinking about gay rights. The fear that still bleeds out with hateful words and prohibitive laws is shameful. Milk was spot on about the Gospel. So many fearful people use the Bible as a weapon to protect their ignorance and fear but have no real grasp of what it is to be and act like a Christian. God bless Harvey Milk and all the "Harvey Milks" of today and tomorrow!

  • @sirensealight and almost all of it you can blame on religion, or the bible.

  • @AUSCHWITZ7946 This is a legit question: are you seriously retarded?

  • Umm no gay man should be talking about reading the Gospel!

  • @BXTALE U mad? :-D

  • @DaisySaoud Nope

  • @BXTALE Why not?

  • @BXTALE Why?

  • @badmanners411 Becuz he don't know what he's talking about. lol..dah

  • @BXTALE Of course he knew what he was talking about. What are your qualifications on the subject?

  • @badmanners411 That he knows nothin about the Gospel!

  • @BXTALE Unfortunately, it looks like your comprehension skills are low, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt: what are *your* qualifications on the subject? That is, why do you think your opinion is valid?

The clue is, I'm asking about you.

  • @badmanners411 He knews absolutely nothing! Thats why he didnt make it that long in office!

  • @BXTALE You still didn't answer my question.

About Milk: He "didn't make it that long in office" because a Christian man killed him in a premeditated attack.

Milk was on the board of supervisors for 11 months. Ten of his colleagues voted in a gay rights bill. The only dissenting vote was from Dan White, the man who shot him (and the Mayor of SF) dead.

White has ben characterised as a religious zealot and a homophobe.

Are YOU a religious zealot and a homophobe, BXTALE?

  • @badmanners411 Nope I'm not religious at all I just know my Bible and Dan White was not a Christian... he probably thought he was but...a true Christian doesn't kill people so your clearly mis-informed on Christians and secondly if I was a homophobe I wouldnt even listen to what Harvey Milk had to say in this video!

  • @BXTALE White was a Christian. (Some) Christians *do* commit murder.

In the Bible, are there passages about murder? Also, does it say that God forgives Sins of Christians?

So why do you feel so strongly that Harvey Milk knows nothing about the gospel, and shouldn't be quoting it?

  • @badmanners411 Read the Bible and find out for yourself and ''Some Christians commit murder?'' Um they're not Christians if they commit murder..thats going against the commandment my dear...God is a very forgiving God...Just look at the world...the proof is in the pudding but thats neither here nor there!

  • @BXTALE I am religious and I think Harvey Milk knows exactly what he is talking about. God never says he hates gays, that they are committing an unforgivable sin, but His son teaches 'Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself' more frequently than anything. If your neighbor is homosexual or not does not matter, you are meant to love and respect them as you would yourself. That is what Harvey Milk is trying to say and therefore he is correct.

  • @DaniBIndustries Who says I dont love my neighbor? And Who said God Hates Gays? U said that, Not Me!! BTW My bro is gay, and I love him regardless!

  • sub ita please? I don't understand...

  • Nobody likes haters!!!!! If u hate you are wrong no questions!!!!!!!!

  • Unfortunately, he seems to have underestimated the Right Wing movement.

Speaking of which, it's funny to recall how laid-back interviews were back then. With the rise of Fox, interviews have become so harsh and confrontational, with no chance to hear what anyone has to say.

  • Mr Milk would have done a lot of good for all the people of San Francisco had he had the chance. It's a shame that bigotry won the day and still does I'm afraid.

  • Brave guy. I'm straight and I say to the bigots - go fuck yourselves.

  • @sandytinky I know that the Bible says that men shall not lie with other men, but I'm sure that if we could ask God's opinion on the treatment of homosexual people, the murder of Harvey Milk for starters, I'm sure he would be disgusted and appalled. We as a society have broken so many of God's laws- we kill people, we are selfish, we cheat on those with whom we're married, we cause so much hurt. I think it's ridiculous that people who love one another, and are homosexual, bisexual or transgende

  • Jesus is God- as is the Father and the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit inspired the Scriptures. And the Scriptures, Old Testament and New, condemn homosexuality. Milk is trying to portray Jesus as not having an opinion on homosexuality - but he is wrong by the fact Jesus would not contradict the Holy Spirit inspired scriptures. To do so would pit Christ against the other two members of the Godhead.

Milks twisting of the Bible condemns him all the more.

  • @sandytinky Perhaps you could clarify something for me, then. The Bible also forbids the wearing of garments of mixed materials and prohibits the eating of shellfish and pork. Why does Christianity appear to pick and chose which prohibitions to abide by? I want to understand and have asked many people this question and have yet to receive an answer, so I would appreciate if you could educate me.

  • @Jackinboxes78 God forbid the mixing of garment materials and certain foods as object lessons for the Jewish people to set them apart from the heathen nations that surrounded them, and the prevent them from mixing with them, and marrying them. Then answer has been in the Bible all along. I suggest reading it.

  • if he lived , he wouldve eventually died from aids

  • @MrCRONOS Not every gay man gets aids you ignorant fuck.

  • @MrCRONOS Im gay, ive not got aids. Infact aids wasn't as bad back then, so more than likely, he wouldnt have died of aids. You have more of a chance of getting it.

  • @MrCRONOS thia is the most pathetic, ignorant comment to have ever existed.

  • @MrCRONOS That is a really messed up comment dude, I'm not gay but I think people who are as hateful as you are towards people who have never done anything wrong to them, are a cancer burning black into mankind.

  • He likes to drink other guys "milk" piece of shat.

  • Harvey Milk was a very bright and insightful guy, but I think he was shown as an even more intelligent being, on this show, because of this stupid chick who doesn't know anything of substance. So there is no fair exchange of ideas, considering Harvey had 99% of them, and this chick had 1%, which was just starting talking points. R.I.P. still Harvey. You sparked an underrated progression, not most of us even realize, was done.

  • This was a REAL MAN, so.. al you homohpobes can stop saying gay people are not manly enough, can you do what he did? I don't think so...

this is a real man, not the ones that go arround having sex with 3 girls per night, maybe you can learn some real values... ;)

  • @leemcbride2020: I don't advocate violence against gays.....but that don't change the fact that homosexuality is an abomination. You gays wanna question GOD as if GOD has to answer to you for anything he created and said. GOD is the potter and we are all his clay and he does not need us to justify anything. Now according to his revealed word.....homosexuality is a violation against nature. My hope is that every homosexual will repent of this sin just like all the rest of us must repent of ours.

  • @READY4REVELATION read the gospels. don't talk about 'nature' as if you understand it. Everything in our modern world is 'un-natural'. I am not a sin.

  • @leemcbride2020: Do you not consider the Apostle Paul to have been an extension of Christ? Was he not commissioned byChrist to preach as he did on his various journeys? If you believe he was not a fraud...then tell me how do you read Romans 1:25-30 or 1st Corithians 6:9...and how do you understand it? Anything that goes against the word of GOD through his prophets and/or Christ's Disciples...is indeed unlawful and the Apostole Paul more then any other made it clear about homosexuality.

  • @READY4REVELATION If Fundamentalist Christians had their way, we'd still be cutting the hands off any chick who dared intrude on a fight between her husband and another man. It's always been a dangerous thing to literally translate ancient teachings. Best to stick to "Do unto others as you would have done to you." Waaaay less violence and hate, lots more love. Peace.

  • What an amazing man... Its the first time I actually saw footage of the real him, and I love the way he speaks

  • he was called as her was no body else ha haha she slapped him in his face, no wonder that asshole was shot haha.

  • Hey Dan, got milk?

    Yeah, right between the eyes.

  • @doogytaint

dan white was a coward? what on earth leads you to THAT conclusion? he was a cop and a firefighter. strange professional choices for a coward. why do dumb asses like you always have to misrepresent the facts? does it make your pointy little head feel better? you strike me as one of those losers who, when their kid runs into the street chasing a ball, and is struck and killed by a car, immediately shout for all to hear "He was speeding!"

  • @LiquorWreckedEmGood You're right. He most likely performed a few courageous acts before his mental illness kicked in and he killed two people, got divorced and committed suicide.

  • I just finished seeing the movie with my girlfriend, I'm glad they made one for this couragous man being I would have never known who he was. R.I.P. Mr. Harvey Milk. You're legacy will never be forgotten.

  • WHAT A LOSS!

  • I came out to acceptance in my family and friends. I've barely gotten any crap at school for it.

And I owe it to people like Harvey Milk. Thank you.

  • @meehee45 That makes me really happy to hear!! I'm Irish, go to a Catholic school and a friend one mine recently came out too, another came out as bi, and most people have been really good! I think that the bi friend has gotten more stick though, because it's almost less socially acceptable to be bi than gay; if you're a guy, people seem to think it's a stepping stone or something.. I dunno, bitches be crazy!

  • Harvey Milk I love you<3

  • Harvey Milk's story is really incredible..... and I'm really glad Sean Penn portrayed him in Milk he did an excellent job. Their mannerisms are very similar

  • animals have sex all the time. humans are animals. sex is natural.

  • @jamerikan5689: Animals eat their own shit also, all the time

  • @jamerikan5689 Humans are not "animals." We have logic and free will. Your argument is all kinds of wrong. What were you trying to defend?

  • @leemcbride2020 human are animals, idiot, its science. please go to school.

  • @jamerikan5689 Not in the sense you're using, we're not. We're mammals, to be sure. Live birth. But that's where it ends. Don't kid a kidder, baby. Hit the books yourself.

  • @leemcbride2020 whatever

  • @jamerikan5689 A brilliant reply from a brilliant mind. Just don't be on my debate team, deal?

  • what is the last name of the talk show host??

  • what a fine interview

  • im an atheist so y should the bible affect me?

  • @MamaMario13 If you live in the Western world, the Bible affects you whether you believe it or not.

  • Harvey is wrong.....in the book of Matthew chp 19 Christ talks about unlawful sex acts....that is what Christ called fornication....unlawful sex acts.

  • @BLKJEW01 Tell us what Christ meant by "unlawful." Did He ever mention same-sex couples? Are you extrapolating from the word 'unlawful' that that includes homosexuality?

Not following your point. I believe he's right. Christ never spoke out against homosexuality.

  • Harvey Milk...you were and are amazing. Such a wonderful gay/human rights passion and understanding, such intelligence and articulate speech. What a waste that he was killed. Just when people start to make a real positive difference in this world, those insistent on keeping society in the stone ages have to screw it up. I was born thirteen years after Harvey was murdered, but I know who he is and so will the generations to come. You are never forgotten, Harvey. Rest in Peace xx

  • What a remarcably intelligent, kind, corageous man he was.

  • Obama talks like Harvey, I never noticed it but the the flow of the way he speaks, the gestures.. Even the pauses and the jokes..

  • This News Talk Show sort of has a gay ending.

  • PROSZĘ, NIECH KTOŚ WSTAWI NAPISY.

  • Whatever happened to Juana??

  • "to do what christ says is to accept everyone"-Harvey Milk :)

  • he was a lot less flambouant than the way that Sean Penn portrayed him

  • Where's Harvey Milk when you need him the most?

  • Harvey Milk was not in the pocket of any politician. He was the catalyst for this movement and what is important about the message is that it is one of civil rights, not simply gay rights. Certainly, the Briggs initiative was a direct attack on gay people in California. However, it further than that. If one, who was not gay, supported the gay woker, that individual risked losing employment as well. So prop 6 was really something out of Hitler's Germany.

  • *even if his biography tells you so

  • This man cold have been Gov of California and who knows from there. Bright , articulate and smart.....remind u of someonw else who 30 yrs later was almost nominated for Prez? Yes, Hillary......

  • Holy shit, Sean Penn played him well

  • Im a staight male from the Uk and find Harvey milk such an inspiration! I must admit i had never heard of him untill i saw the film and i find it disgusting that they had to make a film before people around the world knew who he was. Every school should teach the kids about this man, his message and how he helped change america (and if he hadnt have been killed, i belive the world)

  • I don't like his vibe nor his physique, and I don't see even the slightest hint of inspiration. He doesn't speak from the heart at all, is in fact difficult to listen to and exceedingly boring in my opinion. His political points, dilligently learned by heart, were obviously made up by his mentors.

    A hero of gaylib? Hmmm...

  • @suddenlyitsobvious

Not an hero? Really? At the time of this interview, 63% of Californians said they supported Prop 6. The proposition ended up being defeated with 58% of the vote. He created a brilliant strategy, linking Briggs to Nixon and the initiative to pro-Nazi legislation. You heard it here, Harvey wasn't concerned with his political future. He was running for re-election and yet traveled statewide to defeat Prop 6. He'd have more of a shot staying in his district. He's my hero.

  • @LYLS3637

    "He created a brilliant strategy"

    HE created? HE?

    You are living in wonderland.

THEY, the guys you see on your telly, NEVER create the strategy. Think tanks and smarties in the shadows do that.

I suggest you find a hero who's better looking and not a puppet, or why not find the hero within yourself? Hmmm?

Really I mean are you gay -please don't answer. Just look at the guy. Use your "gay intuition" rather than some "glorious" narrative.

  • @suddenlyitsobvious

I'm guessing you haven't read "The Mayor of Castro Street" by Randy Shilts. If you did, you would know that Harvey, Cleve Jones, and Jim Rivaldo created the statewide, grassroots campaign to defeat Prop 6. Other liberal leaders in California like Jerry Brown made it an issue of constitutionality while Harvey and his team decided to take to the streets to dispel the myths about homosexuality. I would suggest you do research before you jump down someone's throat.

  • @LYLS3637

No I haven't read that, but also, I don't believe everything I read.

I haven't done research on Milk in particular although I did check a few significant things. I've done quite a bit of checking on gay culture in general though.

It's not really about reading books. There are simply general principles that are being applied in politics, society etc, and If you really look, you'll know Milk isn't the brain EVEN if his biography tells you say.

I could look into the Milk...

  • @LYLS3637

...situation if it's really necessary, I'm not too interested in it, but it's feasible to spend some time on it. I have no hard facts now.

Also, when you say "THEY CREATED GRASSROOTS.." you are saying something interesting: grassroots implies it organically surges in society from the bottom up.

Yet you yourself correctly point out these things are organized by politicians, meaning in a top-down fashion. This is significant, & means a few people can and do design social movements.

  • @LYLS3637

Lastly, when I see this guy, if only in this clip and I've seen a few others as well, it's just obvious. Very obvious I find. Just a guy chosen for a purpose. I can assure you that he is NOT the brain.

  • @suddenlyitsobvious

Harvey's team created the grassroots movement. It's that simple. The liberal political establishment opposed Milk's efforts because they felt he spoke too often about the gay community. It was left up to Milk and the gay communities around California to take to the streets and talk to voters about Prop 6. Harvey Milk was NOT the political establishment of San Francisco or California. He was much hated by the politicos when he ran for Supervisor and Assembly.

  • He's gay, he loves marihuana - how can you NOT like this guy???

  • this guy is so great. I think he was an amzing spokesperson for the gay community but also just simply a great man and politician. He would have been just as interesting talking about another subject too.

  • The Briggs initiative was brilliant and it should have become law PERMENANTLY!!!

  • im a conservative and to me rush is a liberal. But harvey is right in this interview. This man changed my view on a few things.

  • Why are all of our hero's gunned down?

  • He's great, but she's a total disaster. Like most talkshow hosts, she talks to much and doesn't allow her (fas more interesting) guest to unfold his ideas. The fact that she obviously didn't do her homework and is as a result, not able to say anything intelligent, or ask any relevant questions, only makes it worse.

  • Who's the gay dude in this video? Wait, is he gay?

  • if harvey were to have lived into the next decade he would have seen the ravages of that lifestyles as millions of gay men would die from AIDS, so clearly the Bible's proscriptions(since on a first reading is about life, not only long abundant life here, but ultimately, eternal) are to be taken at face value and in context w/ Jesus' words and lifestyle.

  • @turquoise770 That makes no sense because people that are straight, and even children who are completely innocent have died of aids. They're are baies and children who have died of cancer and other diseases, too. Is it becuase of their "lifestyle"? You make NO SENSE. You are a moron.

  • God is Love... Jesus is God... what more can I say!

  • Harvey milk was an Amazing man! In fact, one of the best heroes of america! But, i have to ask, who on earth farted at 4:47 ???

  • Really?? Are you sure?? I can't imagine my ultra-conservative TV station having part of the soundtrack from a "Clockwork Orange" on the show . . . but, hey, stranger things have happened.

  • He was so smart! I wish he would be president! Would kick a lot of asses like Bush!

  • Interesting that the few seconds of music at the end is from the soundtrack of "A Clockwork Orange"...

  • Thank you, Seyahhsod. I didn't even know who Minnie Riperton was till your comment. I knew the song "Lov'n You" but not the artist. I take this as a high compliment. And . . . we were born just 17 days apart. A shame she was taken from us so early in her talented life, just like Harvey and so many others who inspired us to greatness.

  • Thank you, Seyahhsod. I didn't even know who Minnie Riperton was till your comment. I knew the song "Lov'n You" but not the artist. I take this as a high compliment. And . . . we were born just 17 days apart.

A shame she was taken from us so early in her talented life.

  • She reminds me a bit of Minnie Ripperton for some reason. I expect her to say...

    "La la la la la

    La la la la la

La la la la la La La La

    Do N'dude wee ooo

Ah ah aahh aah aah aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"

  • Wow, what an amazing man. Such a shame that he was taken away by a coward. After seeing this interview, I think Sean Penn did a wonderful job in his role. Milk's way of speaking, his look, his mannerisms; all mimicked by Penn wonderfully. I'll admit it, I knew nothing of Milk prior to the film, but now I want to learn all I can about this icon. Cut down way too soon. Love you Milk

  • @doogytaint I couldn't agee more..he was truly wonderful,inspirational man,AND charismatic also..which is rare among politicians..

  • I wonder what it would've been like to live in the 70's

  • I love you Harvey Milk

    You are my Christ

  • very very interesting music...

  • is this KBHK TV 44?

  • Such a great inspirational man he was. Harvey Milk will and always will be a hero.

  • RIP mr milk. he speaks the truth. jesus was the unique because unlike the "religious" hypocrites, he would spend time with the outcasts of society. he knew that just because they different, it didnt mean they were evil or cursed. he saw them as people, just regular people. and isnt it ironic that people that claim to be deeply religious mirror the hypocrites of jesus' time??? think about it and respond u bible thumpers!!!!!

  • Thank you for sharing this interview. It's so sad our (America's) school systems does not provide a history of Harvey and everything he has done. Thank goodness for youtube and people such as yourself for providing us with a piece of history here.

  • A true American hero.

  • @badtown88 Yeah!!!

  • wow...that's so weird, i've seen the movie without knowing any of the real stuff and now watch Harvey speaking is kind of..i don't know, my heart is beating faster 0o'....we definitely need more people like him in this world...definitely.

  • @LeelooBrasil Hi Leeloo! It's interesting what you say, because as good as the movie was, it does simplify the life of Harvey Milk. He was not just a gay rights activist, he was a human rights activist, who also did tremendous things for otherminorities, senior citizens and just the city of San Francisco at large. A very complicated man, whose life, interests and scope of operations were very rich and varied.

  • @assindiastignani I didn't know much about Milk before the movie and yes, the movie did emphasize his LGBT activism. But I still got the impression he stood for all human rights, not just those who were members of the LGBT community. One of the first things he says in the movie is his desire to reduce the cost of public transportation in San Francisco. Affordable transportation for all is definitely NOT a purely LGBT issue.

  • thanks for posting this,

Harvey was a great man, his murder was a tragic loss,

his HOPE speech should be reinvested in & used to expose all the homophobes who use Gods name to spread hate/fear/lies.

  • @RubberWilbur So? Whats your point?

  • Actually, most Christians follow the apostle Paul. It's known as "Paulian Christianity." Oddly enough, most Christians aren't even aware of it.

  • @cigolone1

I was about to say something witty and sarcastic to counter your assertion, but given that your writing reflects on your intellect (or lackoff), I'll keep my comment succint:

    STFU, you race-hating dumbfuck.

  • My hero!

  • It's 1978 all over again in California - martyred saint Harvey Milk reminds us that the struggle for civil equality is very much alive today.

  • I lived near the civic center in san francisco for 3 years and never knew about those murders or Mr.Milk untill i saw the movie with shawn penn and WOW what an inspirational human being ..

  • @cigolone1

    1 Timothy 3:12

    Exodus 21:7

    Exodus 35:2

    Leviticus 19:19

if your going to follow the rules of the bible, then here are a few places to start...

i'd say it's safe to say that the bible includes equal amounts of fact, history, and pizza.

  • Harvey was right: It's the same arguments -- with a different cast of characters -- as it was 32 years ago!

  • I'm a right wing, straight, conservative, and I find it incredible that in this day and age, there are still people who oppose other people's right to be who they are,soo sad.

  • i love harvey milk! he changed the world! R.I.P Harvey Milk

  • i just saw the movie milk ugh its so sad. and harvey milk rest in peace you were a great human being. Sucks that your life ended so young :( But you are an inspiration to all of us! and your legacy will live on.

  • AmazinggMan(:

SeanPenn Did an amazingg Job playing and SOUNDING like Milk(:

  • He was brilliant.

  • "Why would you ask for forgiveness if you intend to continue in the act from which you are seeking forgiveness. "

I'm gay. We are not asking for forgiveness. We are asking to live our lives in peace from close minded bigots who think they have an omnipotent space-daddy on their side.

  • what is juana's last name want to see more of her interviews

  • Hey Ironman . . . Did you get my reply of a few days ago?

    ;-) Juana ~

  • @jdm0212

Can you name one person who accepts and follows the entire bible? Milk actually has a very strong argument since most Christians treat the gospels as the only really important part of the entire bible.

  • @JustinHampel

just got that comment. wow, i'm late. sorry!

you're quite wrong. Most Christians accept the bible as a whole and would consider it blasphemous to only view certain sections as valid. This is Milk's argument. He only views the Gospels as being a valid source to live by. If a Christian truly believes in God, then he or she will have no trouble in fully believing in ALL that is contained in His Word.

  • Do you follow Exodus 21:17?

  • Are you not familiar with the first and second covenant? When Jesus died on the cross, this established a covenant of grace upon His people (this is why we can eat bacon, trim our beards, get tattoos, wear clothing of mixed fibers). MANY of the Laws in the Old Testament were nullified by Christ's death.

So, no. I don't follow Exodus 21:17, as it is in the context of the Old Law. Homosexuality, however, is a sin repetitively mentioned in the New Testament, even after Christ's death.

  • It seemed like you were the one who wasn't familiar with the second covenant. Wasn't it you who said "all of scripture must be followed?"

What I'm getting at is Christians who say homosexuality is wrong based on the Bible are almost always referring to Jewish law. It's still up for debate whether those laws still apply, since there are multiple contradictory verses on that subject alone.

Now I have another question: When was the last time a Christian sold all their stuff? (Luke 18:22)

  • where did I say "all of scripture must be followed"? I said all of scripture must be accepted. Two very different ideas.

"since there are multiple contradictory verses on that subject alone." Really? I can't recall a verse stating, "God bless homosexuality." I'll look into that.

  • "where did I say "all of scripture must be followed"?"

Check your first comment on this video and stop backpedaling.

"Really? I can't recall a verse stating, "God bless homosexuality.""

Did I not make it clear from the sentence directly before that one that I was talking about Jewish Law? I could give you a list of verses if you want.

"where in that verse does it say "Thou shalt sell all of your stuff"?"

    That is the verse.

  • Funny you mention it, my pastor actually sold all of his stuff after becoming a Christian (i'm not joking. He sold everything). where in that verse does it say "Thou shalt sell all of your stuff"? Jesus is referring to one man. One situation. You are completely taking that verse out of context. The "Rich Ruler" most definitely does not represent all Christians.

  • "You are completely taking that verse out of context."

Okay, then, let's get some context. The verse takes place just a few verses after his 5-6 (depending on which gospel) commandments.

Forgetting that, why would one person need to sell all of their stuff and not everyone else? Isn't that favoritism?

Also, there are other things Jesus says people have to do to get into heaven, including hating your life and abandoning your family. (John 12:25, Matt 19:29)

  • This guy gives me hope. I'm a bisexual woman who hasn't come out yet (especially to my family). My mom and her crazy fundi church folk have threatened to kill me if I was gay. Even if I was a 'full' lesbian. She and her christian fan club would be quick to make my life miserable (as if it isn't miserable enough with thier anti-gay anti-bi chants). Christians need to read the bible. If God is 'love' why do YOU hate me, gays and lesbians :(

  • Hello There . . . ;-))

This is Juana, the woman who interviewed Milk. Your e-mail touched me, so, I'm writing to you with both my Truth and that of one of my very good gay friends to whom I reached out for some guidance as to what to say to you.

This little box won't allow much, so, write again w/ your e-mail address and I'll send.

  • Thank for your interview, but Mr. Milk is completely mistaken here in his attempt to explicate the biblical position on homosexual behavior. He is though correct in his admonition- yes, please read the Gospels ! Jesus is greatly concerned with the fact that men are evil & unjust- that we have perverted the laws of God formulated for our good & protection. Jesus doesn't mention homosexual behavior specifically BECAUSE he is addressing fellow Jews. However, the moral Law & the Epistles condemn it.

  • @shieldsff Your argument is better known as "grasping at straws." It's amazing to me, as a Christian, how far Christians will go in their attempt to lessen others.

  • @leemcbride2020 - on the contrary, I try to speak the truth and life.... sin deceives and leads to death

  • Be proud of yourself!!!!! Fuck your mom's friends. Don't listen to anyone's sorry ass opinion. Only YOU know who and what you are and what you stand for. GOD is love and God loves YOU. No are no exception to the universal law. We are all special beings who continue to revolve around the sun every 365 days. Good luck with your life and stay fucking proud!!!! I am a straight man and very secure with myself. God Bless!!!!!!!

  • @missaquaboogie Oh my gosh I weep for you! If I could abolish one thing in this world it would be predujice! I know you are wonderful the way you are!!! I pray for you to come to a place of acceptance.

  • @missaquaboogie so basically is this how it went down?

mssaquaboogie- "mom what if i were lesbian, i'm not saying that i am just hypothetically speaking"

mom and her crazy church- "i'll kill you"

so idk if i'm missing anything but that's pretty ridiculous if u ask me

  • @waspjerk1 well people are crazy and religion is the worst offender of all time. I don't live with my mother anymore. We haven't spoken in a few months oh well love can't win it all...not that their "christian" love...which only applys to people that think like them.

  • @missaquaboogie don't put your opinion on all christians because your mother and her church, just don't stop believing, hold on to that feeling
