I used a thick "Yellow Pages" book. I didn't bother with the front covers, they were too slippy for me. Once I'd done the t-shape and cracked it there was still a lot of effort needed. Cracking it was the easy part.

Still, I'm proud. I'm only 15 and can't lift a weight to save my life.

I do the t shape thing and i can sort of rip through half of it, but then it stops and i cant get the "crack" that u are talking about.

If you can tear up a bit and it stops means that you are on the right track in managing to rip it open. Sometimes you just need to regrip to be able to continue the ripping. ONe important thing when trying to initiagte the rip is to hold hands tight until the rip on the book is completely through top down.

Don't forget to use the increased leverage you got with thicker books. The rounded slope you get is wher you put this leverage onto with your knuckles/fingers when rotating the palms inwards.

Age and strenth aren't a HUGE requirment. you do need some strength, but its a lot of strategy included.

I tried my first one not too long ago, and i got it. now I bet i can rip just about any phonebook, and i DO know I can show my friends and not make myself look stupid! (like i did before:) Well, that's it! After many hours of practice I gave it a shot with "The Challenge" , and i beat it! yeah!

Practice, practice, practice! I didn't get it my first try, so I practiced this technique with a 300 page book. Soon after, I finally got it to work. I even re-ripped it, so really I ripped a 600 page book! Now, when I get a good-sized (but not too big of a) phonebook, I think I'll be ready for the challenge! after bending and pinching and getting the T shape, how do you twist it? towards you or to the sides?

how do u twist it once you have the T shape in the pages??? I can pinch it like youve got it but when i try to rip it, the first page rips and then i lose my grip. Do u rip out to the left and right or down towards you while holding the other part away from you? im gonna try again after my hands stop burning =P

Twist it, your index fingers knuckles go upwards and sometimes forward a bit and the pinkies go down and in.

Regrip if it opened up but dont opens up more, make sure that the pages are tightened all the time you regrip. That is easier
