Why the hell are the young Turks so popular? Oh wait I forgot, America is spiraling down into a pile of debt and the moral values of the US are constantly being destroyed by the left, which seems to be growing every day.
I hate President Obama!! Obama is a bad president nobody wants Obama to be president just Obama-lovers!!!! I'm a Republican and I can't stand Obama!!!! Repeal Obama!!!
I’m glad the young GOP’ers are anxious for President Obama to deliver on what they perceived as the “promises”. Hang in there young Righties, the change will come. It took the GOP 8 years to drive this country to near collapse and now they want an instant turn around? When we get the house back and a Senate with a backbone, along with real 60 votes, you’ll see the change. Thank you young righties for keeping up the hope.
Wow, you guys are calling the kettle black. More and more college people thinking beyond your comments such as the focus on the actors. Can't you focus on what young college students are upset about. Get real! The spending is out of control and you want the same ol' crap?! People are tired of the media bull@#T. FOCUS PEOPLE FOCUS...
You dumb Bitch, He certainly did Change a lot of things. Jobs don't just appear over night. We Americans are just impatient and start pointing fingers when we don't get instantaneous results. Bogus.
@adamacin34 It's when those jobs never appear that causes problems. Obama said the debt would be in half two years ago. It's higher than ever. You need to wake up my friend.
U played this lib thg well to get on MSNBC well done...u sold ur soul for the big time and the destruction of ur country... You aren't for the pres unless he believes like u are told to
this man resembles a retarded muppet. i'm pretty sure that there are a hell of a lot more conservatives than libs though. ask your representative he would know, oh, wait...
What change? Still banker bailouts, still horrible schools, closed door politics, secrecy, health care costs are rising, bigger government, bigger spending, less results, more troops in the middle east (even contractors) "promoting democracy," while borrowing more money from china to prop up oppressive regimes. Can one progressive out there give me one change he has made to american politics? The same would have been done by Bush or McCain. It's pathetic.
These kids are truly the future of America and they WILL overwhelmingly vote for Sarah Palin in 2012! Palin will bring REAL CHANGE to our country and our youth will overwhelmingly support her cause! All of our misguided liberal youth WILL become our future conservatives!
@smdiddy And not to start anything, but they were all white, I thought the GOP is trying to get non-white voters? How can they when their young "hipster" kids put this stuff out?
@cafecitoforme Uh, Obama invaded Pakistan, and expanded the war in Afghanistan, and we are STILL in Iraq.
Social Security is a ponzi scheme that in not sustainable.
Not to mention that Obama bailed out his crook friends on Wall St. just like Bush did!
He also signed the Patriot Act back into law.
Debt, wars, corporate welfare, spying on citizens... The Republicans suck, you are right about that, but you also need to look in a mirror, and be HONEST with yourself.
The change was to stop the wars. I know a lot of republicans that voted for obama because they didn't like how bush was going to war and helping out all the big oil companies etc... a lot of younger republicans switched to vote for obama for these great changes. So I could see that, as a voice of republicans who voted for obama, it is sad to see that the key issues were not resolved, and instead he tried to push more legistration and problems.
"I don't know if they could find 8 young republican college students these days." That line in itself shows what a ignorant piece of trash Cenk is. How could anyone respect this moron's opinion? Amazing.
i voted for obama at age 18. i was very excited to vote. i watched every interview with both mccain and obama and every debate. i researched both of their backgrounds and expirience and views. this commercial in no way supports my views as a young voter. thank you
Cenk and Ana's discussions was way off. College Republicans got together to make an ad. THEY WERE NOT TRYING TO REPRESENT COLLEGE REPUBLICANS BUT COLLEGE STUDENTS. Of course college republicans didn't want Obama's agenda.
Cenk also said (jokingly) you probably couldn't find a college republican these days. Even if the statement is sarcastic, it is out of touch. I'm in Utah and I was knee deep in republicans at the two colleges I attended.
@adamscameron5 huh? they absolutely were representing republicans NOT college students in general, and also cenks statement isnt really out of touch because polls show young ppl favor obama...and bro you live in utah...its not surprising your a republican.
@truckbiz15 I feel your wrong on three points. 1-Where can you definitively say the ad is a representation of republicans? It's people disenchanted with Obama's version of change
2-I agree that most college students are democrats but just because 75% of students vote democrat doesn't mean you couldn't find one republican. 1 out of 4 wouldn't be hard to find. (I don't know the percentage)
3-I'm a staunch Democrat. But occasionally (not often) Cenk or Jon Stewart are off point much to my chagrin
I have to agree on some comments saying what do you expect? republicans keep voting no to everything, and also did you honestly think 2 years was gona be enough to go from as far down as we got, back to 100%? also i recall people within 6 months were saying that the economy was getting worse and I was like "its only 6 months! this isnt a videogame you cant expect to get to the "you win" screen in a couple of hours."
America didn't want Obamacare.... I'm glad that Republicans listened to what America wants or doesn't want!!! Fuck yea, they voted NO!! You dumbass socialist fuckwit!
reminds me of an advertisement on yt "right shirts done right" its a shirt with the yellow happy face....and it says IMAGINE no liberals.
using symbolism of the drug culture referances to a radically left song made by a left diety to slam the left? i mean they got nothing from top to bottom its just crazy grasping at strws or true nonsense. this commercial while stunningly dumb isnt surprising and seems to be in line with the spirit of how they do things.
The fact that they are called republikkkan college students is so fucked up. I thought college was supposed to enlighten you, not make you republikkkan. Even these kids in the commercial come accross as independent, not republikkkans.
It's the gossip girl perspective of barack obama, young voters were only interested in obama because he's cool, he's hanging out with celebrity, hope and change woo hoo. Because all young voters were naive and vapid, but now were wised up, it's over barack, this is treating the voters who are disillusioned with Obama as dumb, so i'm not sure it will so effective.
If someone was dumb enough to vote for Obama because they thought he was "cool" then they're probably dumb enough to think that they'll get what they want by going the opposite direction, to the right, instead of pushing Obama further left.
@hannahmobrien nice one, i think some have already done that :/ I voted for Obama, am i disappointed? Yes, but i always like to remind myself that things could have been worse if a republican was president. We definitely need to get Obama back on track instead of sucking up to the Cons
The thing is this. People are impatient. Voters expect the change Pres. Obama promise to make. But here is the reality: Change takes years to come. With everything we're going through, it's not going to disappear in one night..or one year. And with the right-wing not wanting any support what so ever, change won't come if people keep supporting the right side and continue being lazy asses. So really, if you're that impatient, you have a problem.
One of my favourite scenes from a movie is in "Stand by me" when the kid has a gun pointed at keifer sutherlands' character and sutherlands' character says "what are you going to do kill us all all?" and the kid says." no just you." That's what's going to happen. We won't kill everyone. Just you.
the whole point of this ad was to make fun of young voters who got duped because of obama's swagger. i hate to break it to you folks but i saw kids going around the apartment complex near campus openly smoking the night obama won. just shows you that many young people can be easily promised anything, e.i. drugs and money. and they will fall for it.
Apparently Republicans have the same cynical view of teenagers that I do. We both see them as superficial, greedy, selfish morons who care more about Ashton Kutcher than... you know, things that matter.
I'm happy to say that this is one of the ONLY views I share with the right, but still. Kinda unsettling.
So .... what I saw in that ad was a bunch of closet Nazi's. Blonds, and skin heads, a couple of cute girls who prolly don't fit in, so they just don't like anyone, and a few guys who are too chubby to be popular so the same thing with them.
they just seem like retarded wannabes who wanted to be rebels and join a cause they probably have little knowledge in.....seriously it felt like any normal "I am a rebel plus I know all cause my professor told me so haha" It just feels too stupid and jersey shoreish.... but i guess all attack ads are
So these people wanted change, didn't get it, and want to get even more of the old bullshit? These are some dumbass college students.
Take health care, for example. The way it was before (and is until 2014 I believe) is that only a few of us were paying for it while others could use it when they needed to and we'd all pick up that cost as well. It's like having a kegger - is it cheaper for you to pay for everyone to drink or for you to charge everyone if they want to drink?
On the side of this video there is an ad for Sarah Pac *slowly facepalms*
Also I don't think I have ever met anybody in my entire life who was excited that somebody else met Ashton Kutcher. I think this was marketed towards people who went to go see Vampires Suck, who are also fans of Sean Hannity. What a small demographic.
Hiring a less European American looking actor would have been a little more effective. They're saying he didn't bring change (and I agree) and then they bitch about the slight changes he did bring, negative and positive, depending how you ask. The ad is pretty much an insult to young people too..
Eh, if their parents taxes go up they won't get as much spending money in college. ...And they might not be able to pay to live in their sorority house.
@arga400 decades worth of debt and you really think the u.s can go back to normal in 2 years? you must be a fairy. if you are, then please help obama!
@TheLowEndTheory you obama lovers disgust me, putting words on my mouth cuz you cant counter my real argument, obama has done NOTHING at all zip none zero nada, in 2 years i do expect SOME fucking progress which wasnt deliver the HC bill was worst than before and the financial reform just set us up for another crash, he didnt even deliver on repealing dont ask dont tell a court did and then he oppose the fucking ruling he is a sell out and a joke a republican in disguise indeed a fake massaiah
@arga400 real argument? i dont even vote or support anyone. im making a point while you're assuming and talking out of your ass. even if obama can do makes "progress" in 2 years that doesnt mean were out of the hole. the worst part you're mentioning stuff that is pushed to the side and nobody really care about you dont even have a point to prove. it seems that you are missing something.
@TheLowEndTheory atleast im not missing a brain and common sense, if you think noone cares about financial reform anymore youre obviously retarded or rich, and if you think that obama did ANYTHING about it you are deluded instead
@arga400 its clearly obvious that you dont know anything how things work. you are confused or on something, i dont know. its your word against mines but you're clearly missing the point.
You can definitely find Republicans in college. They're really outspoken on my campus and most of them are in fraternities and sororities and come from extremely over priveleged families where they never had to work for anything.
I'm not saying that's all Young Republicans, but it's a lot of them.
uh, i think in this instance i'm pretty sure 'patients is a virtue' applies considering that you're NOT going to get the instant gratification of everything he promised over night or even in two years. the bureaucracy in this country is an overwhelming, and slow process. quit your bitching, kids.
Bet you 10 bucks that young Republicans don't even notice the rediculous "wanting change theme" in the advertisement. Ignorance is bliss.
But hey, gotta give them credit for not comparing Obama with the devil, hitler, manbearpig or whatever they can think of. At least they used good arguments this time, it's just **so sad** that they have to COPY the democratic side's arguments to finally make sense on their part.
It just proves that Republicans don't have any valid arguments themselves.
Wow. That's a great way to attract young voters. "Our parents warned us" and "We met on facebook" and "Wow, hanging out with Ashton Kutcher" The implication that young voters are completely and utterly stupid is gross. I despised the subtle message of "Oh, I should have listened to my parents" and that whole attitude of the young voting irresponsibly.
@sunsetseast especially considering plenty of young voters in 2008 were not simply being couch-voters. They were active more than in a long time to understand the issues and march on those issues, canvas on them. Sure, many college students are stupid, but its insulting that they insinuate most students that took the time to vote are as dumb and shallow as the ad proposes they are, or maybe its just Obama voters they are accusing of this, which is biased obviously but also a little pathetic.
I don't care what you stand for, whether I agree with your views or not, but I have much more respect for people who follow through with what they say they will and Obama is not that. It doesn't matter whether I like Obama or not, but like many politicians his word isn't good. Just stick to what you said you will do and that's fine, whether I agree or disagree.
they say corporations can vote while they try to destroy civil unions.
if we the people have to fight the corporations, the only way we gonna do that is by standing together and creating our unions to fight for our belief.
Heh, I wrote a letter to the editor addressing the college republicans bringing in an "expert" on climate change. An expert who was a lawyer with zero hours of scientific credentials, research, ect. What does he do? Yell, kick and scream about Al Gore. Hilarious.
So basically the Republicans think that young people that are shallow and conceited and uninformed and have the attention span of a goldfish, and they made an ad about it.
ima not gunna lie, its hard to bring change, well everyone is like I WANT CHANGE, when he tries to do it, I DONT WANT DIFFRENENT HEALTHCARE, or no change. hes probably thinking what the hell, what do you want AMERICA!!!!!!!
i agree that republicans are being hypocrites in this video, but in the end does it really matter what party made the video? it still had some truth in it. we didnt get any of the change we asked for.
So the white kids in this ad are upset about a black guy telling them what to do, being their doctor, their banker, being a "control freak", not giving them a job....
Change is for the long course, Reputards are for the short term or none at all. simply put it Reputards are just in it for themselves again, and again and again till the Screw this nation into chaos and shame. PERIOD!!
In Austria we had exactly the same: The socialists promised change, but had to make a coalition with the conservatives, who blocked everything...and then blamed the socialists for not making any changes possible because they were weak leaders and so on.
The result:
The socialsits lost many votes, the conservatives got crushed and a third party, the nationalists doubled (!) their votes.
The US is a 2 party system, but the idea of blocking everything will not work for the Republicans either.
Anna's response is as foolish as the people portrayed on the video. Because she thought they were young Democrats she agreed with them? They are OBVIOUS caricatures of young democrats. It's consistent with how Republicans portrayed Obama supporters as "Obama-ites" before the election.
In German it is called "beton strategy". You do everything so that the other party fails (spreading fear and lies about changes) and then you blame the other party for not realizing the changes.

Republicans are professional trolls.
1.Say you want to see this change-thing and then comment the result.
2.Block everything in the congress.
3.Say the opponent is not able to deliver the things he promised.
4.???
5.Profit.

If someone was dumb enough to vote for Obama because they thought he was "cool" then they're probably dumb enough to think that they'll get what they want by going the opposite direction, to the right, instead of pushing Obama further left.
hannahmobrien 1 year ago 2

Just you.

There are going to be less young voters voting in this upcoming election. Yes, Obama did fail!
cheddyrod 1 year ago
the whole point of this ad was to make fun of young voters who got duped because of obama's swagger. i hate to break it to you folks but i saw kids going around the apartment complex near campus openly smoking the night obama won. just shows you that many young people can be easily promised anything, e.i. drugs and money. and they will fall for it.

"What did change did these Republicans theoretically want, MORE watered down healthcare?, MORE watered down financial reform?"
I think its pretty obvious that is EXACTLY what they wanted.
donttreadonmyass 1 year ago 3
Apparently Republicans have the same cynical view of teenagers that I do. We both see them as superficial, greedy, selfish morons who care more about Ashton Kutcher than... you know, things that matter.
I'm happy to say that this is one of the ONLY views I share with the right, but still. Kinda unsettling.

So .... what I saw in that ad was a bunch of closet Nazi's. Blonds, and skin heads, a couple of cute girls who prolly don't fit in, so they just don't like anyone, and a few guys who are too chubby to be popular so the same thing with them.
Young Republicans my ass.....lol

So these people wanted change, didn't get it, and want to get even more of the old bullshit? These are some dumbass college students.
Take health care, for example. The way it was before (and is until 2014 I believe) is that only a few of us were paying for it while others could use it when they needed to and we'd all pick up that cost as well. It's like having a kegger - is it cheaper for you to pay for everyone to drink or for you to charge everyone if they want to drink?

The problem with Obama is: when one is all talk and class but doesn't deliver, his strengths start to be viewed as liabilities.
And it's not his own fault.
The economic crisis goes so deep that I think there's simply no way to solve it.
Solution? Brace yourselves for what's next.

Democrats haven't brought change either. If we want change, why don't we bring in a 3rd party.
LadySeraph 1 year ago
@LadySeraph let me quote you Jesse Ventura
the 3rd party have to corrupt itself to even be there,
the problem is not republican democrats,
is the money and the corporations buying politicians.
If there is republicans fighting for real republican values i respect that,
but they dont, they fight for corporations all the time.
izaccy 1 year ago
@izaccy Democrats are the same way though. They don't fight for the people or even for democratic values, they fight for bankers and corporations.
LadySeraph 1 year ago
You can definitely find Republicans in college. They're really outspoken on my campus and most of them are in fraternities and sororities and come from extremely over priveleged families where they never had to work for anything.
I'm not saying that's all Young Republicans, but it's a lot of them.

Phoboskomboa 1 year ago
Wow. That's a great way to attract young voters. "Our parents warned us" and "We met on facebook" and "Wow, hanging out with Ashton Kutcher" The implication that young voters are completely and utterly stupid is gross. I despised the subtle message of "Oh, I should have listened to my parents" and that whole attitude of the young voting irresponsibly.
sunsetseast 1 year ago

Just stick to what you said you will do and that's fine, whether I agree or disagree.
soad19152003 1 year ago
@soad19152003 And my problem is
the core republicans actually are for corruption
they say corporations can vote while they try to destroy civil unions.
if we the people have to fight the corporations, the only way we gonna do that is by standing together and creating our unions to fight for our belief.

AustrianAtheist 1 year ago
Anna's response is as foolish as the people portrayed on the video. Because she thought they were young Democrats she agreed with them? They are OBVIOUS caricatures of young democrats. It's consistent with how Republicans portrayed Obama supporters as "Obama-ites" before the election.
