BUT FOR ALL THOSE PEOPLE who don't know that maori design's or art is not just art it is also you're family you're iwi and so on so before posting these video's atleast study and research about it please
Ahhh, there is a link under COPYRIGHT below for filing complaints. I really would hate to do this, yet I don't appreciate my drawings being used (there are 3 here) and I also see artwork from friends like Chime'. Renebud. please take the moral, ethical course of action and remove this video. Create one using YOUR art & music-- not that of others.
And yes, folks, they are NOT Maori-- most are contemporary original (non-traditional) Polynesian-inspired designs.
Renebud-- These are drawings by other artists, some by ME! It is not only illegal, but unethical to use others art or sound recordings without permission. It is GREAT if you want to educate on Polynesian art or tattoo traditions, but please don't use other folks work & art without asking. or at least credit your sources, or better yet, CREATE YOUR OWN!

Umm bro, this isn't New Zealand Maori, the designs here are more that of Tahitian Ma'ohi or Cook Island Maori. Please don't confuse our reo and waiata (language and songs) with tata'u from another culture. This can be taken as a real offense as I'm sure you've seen from previous comments. Please change the name, or leave our traditions alone.
It's like calling Scotsmen, Irish! Not right at all
im not trying to pick on this person but really mate this is not our people tatto we call ours ta moko this is more on the line of raro and tahiti tatz my mates are both cultures and wen they you there tatz this is the way they they draw atleast you got the song right that counts for some thing
@yaumnarob The first one is a Haka, I'm not sure which but they are pretty easy to find here on youtube, the secod song is a traditional Maori love song called Pokarekare Ana, there are a few versions of that about too, most of them are slower and vary in styles, I'm not keen on the classical styles but there are a couple more traditional ones too.
at bay , all your "MOKO" is kirituhi ( fake) not the real deal aye!
Churrr.....
real tamoko has cultural and spiritual meaning in the designs which are specific to individual tribe and position the tribe etc... however it is nice to see other peoples from round the world taking an intrest in our culture.
That sucks. Do you swim in the ocean a lot? I'm just telling you what I read in marine biology books. I don't know from experience. Maybe they are all far off the coast? Don't know.
Lol I live 20 minutes from both the West and East Coasts of the North Island. I've been fishing since I was 3 and I also surf.
The only time I've ever heard of turtles found in New Zealand are ones that have drifted hundreds of miles south from the Islands because they have been sick. But they are very rare.
"Does not knew what maori is." You can't even speak English man and you're trying to tell us that we don't know our own culture? A Maori from Aotearoa is going to know a damn sight more about Maoritanga than some ignorant Austrian from the otherside of the world.
haha oyu probably get the point by now... after reading all the responses. None of them were remotely Maori... either they are from another polynesian society or they are just rip offs some idiots are passing off as maori. they are cool, just NOT Maori
there is nothing maori about these designs, its a total rip off of a combination of a lot of cultures, hopefully lots of idiots rip this stuff off, come to new zealand and call it maori and watch the response you get....we need more idiots to laugh at
I hear this arguement a lot & it is completely pointless. Art is about influence & imagination. It will always change from artist to artist. In the past certain styles were isolated to more specific regions of the world & many icons were had specific meanings to that region however tattoos always were a creative form of expression & not a specific written language. Even languages are not immune to changes of the world. No language today is what it was when it were created & art won't be either.
WTF? these are NOT maori designs. to me and anyone who knows, they are nothing, mean nothing and STOP CALLING THEM MAORI YOU SAD SAD FOOL. I HEREBY CURSE YOU TO ILL-FORTUNE UNTIL YOU REMOVE THE WORD MAORI FROM THIS CRAP ON YOUR SITE.
Yeah this is really disappointing. Please change the name of this post as it's misleading to those who are looking to find out about genuine Maori tattoo art.
would anyone here know where i can find some tattoos and their meanings, like a good book or something? i really want to get a tattoo but i dont want to get one with the wrong meanings..help me out! thanks
