Heihachi's portrait scared me when I was very young. It's even worse if you play the Arcade version on the PS2 Tekken 5 because it's all in shadows but when the CPU selects him, it's like lightning flashes and you see his "handsome" face. He also looked creepy in Tekken 2, but this was the worst.

I have tekken 5 and when i go to like that arcade version of tekken 1 and when i get to the final battle with heihachi I notice that the throw moves he did was kazuya throws,but in this ps1 version he gets his throw moves like the neck-breaker

P.S his neck breaker throw is the best throw move ever :)

This game must've been low budget, cuz graphics are bad, p jack is crappy, some characters have same voices, like lee and kazuya, and kunimitshu and yoshimitsu. kuma looks like chewbacca. So did its succes give more money, and thats why tekken 2 had better sound and graphics?

I can hear that they sound the same due to the lack of voice actors back then.

I guess that they did the best they could on this game. And Tekken 2 is fun and rewarding to play and this one tries to keep the classic characters.

i was just saying compared to other PS1 games, but i never knew it was in 1994. Its really impressive then. The textures on the characters are really good. Although i wonder why Namco didn't use those textures on Kuma on tekken 2 and 3. Maybe its to look prettier than tekken 1 kuma, but tekken 1 kuma shows how much the game can handle. Btw...why is this game so underrated?

@SonicKusanagi181 Also is it me or does Tekken 2 and 3 have not as detailed textures as this game. Looking at Heihachis costume it has a lot of detail, while later games not so much. Guess I only payed attention to polygon count and not the textures themselves, because god damn this game has amazing graphics for 1994. Especially the stage where he fought Kazuya

@oxe161 correct. but another problem they head besides what Transmorph997 said is that namco had to work within the limitations of the system 11 board, so they couldn't do as much as, say, the PS2 or N64 could. they had a limited amount of space, so they had to improcise, but they ended up doing it well enough to get a bunch of money from it thats for sure.
