  • This is not punk man fuck this the real punk rock bands that are keeping it alive are fucking in bend madras and terrebone oregon motherfuckers!

  • shit he even jacks the play it faster what a terd

  • @ashesrosebud its spelled TURD

  • haha pretty sure he fucked up the lyrics there

  • yeah hahaha started on the 2nd verse

  • What passion in his voice, like yeah bro, corpses fuck with more energy!

  • don't you hate it when bros get a hold of records they don't deserve to hear and think they should start a band in that genre of music?

  • haha it's like when bands who religiously drink beer also religiously cover minor threat. kind of a paradox actually

  • Drinking beer has nothing to do with covering M.T. being a paradox. My band covers them frequently and my band mates drink and smoke pot. Ian Mackaye never set rules on how to live life. only on how he chooses to. Ian was the only band member who stayed sober of all substances

  • Comment removed

  • No, more power to them for ACTUALLY GETTING OFF THEIR ASS AND STARTING A FUCKING BAND RATHER THAN WHINING ABOUT HOW GOOD MUSIC WAS "back in the day"... Except these guys did it different.

  • i'm in a band, and i never said anything about how good music was back in the day, i just said they did a shitty cover...

  • Cool, but that was more or less directed to everyone else who does whine... I just thought I'd post it as a reply to your comment.

  • Well, it's sure as hell not Minor Threat. LAME.

  • BROCORE!

  • at warped tour 08 in pittsburgh, fuckin Rick Thorne came out with pennywise and covered minor threat... omfg!!! best cover of minor threat i ever heard!

  • of course its a part of the lyrics..listen to the original...

  • i dotn like how he says "play it faster" like in the original....cuz its not really part of the lyrics or anything

    iunno....just seems a bit odd

  • i kinda thought the same thing, but theyre not the only ones who have covered it and also said that

  • I saw the Dropkick Murphy's encore with this song three years ago at their St. Patty's Day yearly concert in Boston.

  • what the fuck, he got the lyrics wrong

    how lame, lol

  • OOOF...I like pennywise but eeesh not a good cover.

  • nothing says punk like a bunch of doods in trucker hats butchering a classic.

  • yeah...im not going to lie, im not liking this cover

  • Fuck off, these guys are part of one of the only true punk bands that still remains today. Whether or not you like their cover, these guys are one of the greatest punk bands still around keeping punk rock alive.

  • you have many many things to learn my young, inexperienced friend. punk does not end at warped tour and sweatshop made shoes. remember this comment when you graduate from epitaph, if you ever do. you'll feel very foolish when you realize that there is far more legit underground revolutionary music then you ever imagined. And unfortunately for you, Pennywise certainly does not fall into that category.

  • Your an idiot to jump the gun on judging my tastes like that, i dont even listen to bands on epitaph other than bad religion and no pennywise is not on epitaph anymore. They are one of the only remaining bands in punk that stay faithful to the 80s sound, as opposed to whatever lame underground crap your talking about.

  • Judging quality by "label?!?" Underground=lame??

Comparisons are odious son, my judgement says that you're a neophyte.

  • agreed. its annoying when all these people bang on about pennywise and rancid and all them saying theyre "keeping punk alive". there will ALWAYS be some kids somewhere making awesome music no matter what happens. pennywise are doing fuck all for punk. (i dont have any problem with them just ignorant fans who think its keeping punk rock alive)

  • @DaymanVersusNightman So Is BadReligion

  • ha, he switched the verses lol. still kick ass though.

  • Nope. But listen to the silverchair one. It's the same one but much louder

  • Are you a dipshit??

  • yeah datiki, you didnt even dropped the ball, you totally just missed the ball.

  • why would pennywise (or anybody else) wanna cover silverchair?

  • You dumbass

the song is by Minor Threat

    its there self titled song

  • Get lost dude, pennywise rocks

  • ahahahahahahahhaha

this sucks, the singer got the verses backwards.

    the real way:

    it starts off:

were not the first and i hope were not the last...

    then after the chorus:

i was early to finish and i was late to start...

  • uffff insaine cover

  • the whole point of a cover is to play the song and add your own style, thus why no1 can play it the same as the people who wrote it, pennywise have been thru more than all the haters posting bs, all i gotta say is shove it haters, ur a bunch of jealous asses

  • Okay, i know some people hate Pennywise, but the fact that they are paying homage to one of the greatest hardcore punk bands ever, is fucking awesome.

  • Was this @ the Key Club in LA?

  • lmfao no one knew the song.

  • pretty good cover. i prefer minor threat's version, but this is still good.

  • wow he sang it wrong wat a dumbass

  • deathcell vidguy y orchidmerman...el punk rock no es algo que se lleva en la ropa.. y alla en ee.uu. salvo, raras excepciones no hay punks...so.....?

aguante minor threat, yo con mi banda tocamos este teama

    we're just a minor threatttttttttttttttt

  • por que hablas en espanol? sabemos que puedes hablar ingles. hacelo! pero tienes razon el punk rock no es algo que es por las ropas pero por la musica

  • Wow so many people copied Minor Threat's songs. People must really like them.

  • They didn't copied, they covered it, it's different.

  • minor threat u r not!

  • :)

    :)

  • dude serious shit i was llik 5'6 and got into a better mosh pit then that fuck i almost broke my leg crowd surfing

  • All you motherfuckers suck !! minor t is good but pennywise is better!!

  • Nice pit?! " hey boys lets get to the bitch slapping!" my little sister could start a better pit.

  • pennywise huh..........They're punk as fuck ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha hahahahahahalul. oh shit i just pissed my self.

  • Ha ha ha, your an ignaramus.

  • Pennywise Rules, but I don't think they gave the right energy to this song

  • There is no such thing as pop-Punk. Pop means popular, and punk is everything against it. This is a good song no matter what you do with it. "pop-Punk" is fast paced popular music that makes people think they are rebelling. That is why there are all the "Punk popular kids" in schools that are laughing in true punks faces without knowing it because they are being brainwashed by propaganda like fall out boy and panic at the disco. Dont get me started on hollister, abercrombie, american eagle, etc.

  • so... um... by your definitions.... umm... isn't popular punk "pop punk?"

and there are hundreds of pop punk bands.... and they've killed the genre

  • you suck asswipe

  • dickface

  • thats for ixxkillxxliberals. I was so busy laughing at "song lyric" sentences, i forgot to say who i was writing to.

  • pennywise is the best ;)

  • huh, he got the order of the verses wrong...

  • pennywise is in NO WAY a pop/punk band!

    they're fuckin legends!

  • don't say that it's a pop-punk band PW is a fucking great band they have all the right to play this song if it was another band like NFG i could understand...

  • kruzyboy)-fuk face obviously you dont know shit and are a judgemental prick-like i pennywise were influenced by all the greats,,,

  • just because they were influenced by good bands doesnt make them good in turn.

  • ive just read all this dudes posts....mate i dont know if you could fit anymore cliche generic punk statements in there "fat white corporate fucks". Nice job of origionality bro, at least pennywise comes up with there own statements, weak as they might be. You should try expressing own opinions instead of regurgitating every politically related comment you read in the liner notes of cd's. Bet youre wearing a minor threat tee-shirt right now. real punk.

  • first off i havent bought a band tee-shirt since about the seventh grade and that pretty much goes for cd's to. Second of all every opinion i have is based on my own personal experiences in life, and i got into punk because it reflected the way i felt so dont go assuming you know everything about me because you read some fucking comment on youtube just because i have the same opinions as someone else doesnt meen i ripped it off of them.

  • there destroying the song with there mainstream/pop-punk band

  • im not sure about you guys, but im pretty sure he messed up the lyrics.

he sang the second verse first and the first verse second.

and it seems like just a handful of those kids know what song theyre playing.

    this is rather sad.

  • there all new age wanna be punk rockers that like good charlote and shit, its good to see there are still old skool punks

  • You guys are fuckin stupid. Ian Mackaye doesn't believe in straight edge ethics anymore because the whole straight edge scene has become infiltrated with hardline kids who go around and beat people up for smoking or drinking. I have seen it first hand. Also, Pennywise sucks. Any "punk" band seen on MTV is just hypocritical. Bands like Pennywise are destroying the grassroots of punk, and what it was founded on.

  • agreed. and totally true.

ian never wanted straight edge to be a fuckin set of rules. listen to out of step. he says its not a set of rules.

his father was an alcoholic and he listened to ted nugent, and he was involved in the church, all the roots of his straight edge ideaology.

any fuckin edge skin is a dick hole for kicking in heads for smoking or drinkin.

    ur stupid.

  • Pennywise released their new album for free, so don't talk shit about them being commercial (MTV). Pennywise aren't destroying the grassroots of punk, they are paying homage to bands like Minor Threat by carrying the genre forward.

  • i love these beer swilling hermosa beach bro-fags singing a straight edge anthem

  • are you retarded? how is this a straight edge anthem? i love MT and i'm not edge.

  • Are you implying that Pennywise are pop-punk? =/

  • holy crap i cant believ u just said that

  • How embarrassing, calling Pennywise pop punk.

  • pop punk or not....they still suck, and this was a terrible attempt of a minor threat cover.

  • If you don't want to listen to Pennywise covering the song 'Minor Threat' then don't search for and view the video.

  • i searched for minor threat, im insulted that you think i would actually go out of my way to search for a pennywise video and the only reason i viewed it was to get a good chuckle

  • Too bad you were denied the chuckle when you realised that there is nothing wrong with bands paying respect to other bands by covering their songs. Minor Threat are pretty shit anyway compared to the best Pennywise material.

  • thats a joke right? pennywise is garbage compared to minor threat, pennywise doesnt even deserve to be compared with minor threat. The song is preformed such lack of emotion it can hardly be called a cover, the man even sings it wrong. oh, and your right i didnt get a chuckle out of it because it just made me sick.

  • On the Minor Threat recording they try to play the chorus faster than the guitarists are actually capable of and it sounds shit. Also all of their choruses are just a phrase being shouted repeatedly and they lack any emotional depth. Try comparing songs actually written by Pennywise with Minor Threat's songs rather than a Minor Threat cover. Songs like My Own Way and Never Know are way better.

  • first of all pennywise is just some bullshit sellout band that realized political music sells these days. Minor Threat wrote songs about things they were feeling and cared and cared about not whatever is marketable. i have listened to songs written by pennywise and they were just as pathetic and emotionless as this.

  • first of all pennywise is just some bullshit sellout band that realized political music sells these days. Minor Threat wrote songs about things they were feeling and cared and cared about not whatever is marketable. i have listened to songs written by pennywise and they were just as pathetic and emotionless as this.

  • First of all the new Pennywise album is free, and Pennywise have always been on an independant record label. Secondly, political music does not sell well. If you have no idea what you're talking about then shut the fuck up and get off Pennywise's videos.

  • if you are serious about political music not selling your the one that should stop talking. Being political is like a new fucking fad, just about everyone from movie stars to musicians are jumping on the fuckin band wagon. Being political only doesnt sell if your talking about selling it to fat white corporate fuck heads. The kids these days eat that shit up.

  • i have to agree with liberal. if you watch the origional it is soo much more stronger. and about the emotion and effort put into this cover - probably equivelent to the amount of emotion keanu reeves has when he is acting.

  • i think ill get in on the discussion i prefer minor threat to pennywise any day but pennywise isnt bad its just hard to top the brilliance of minor threat. calm down pennywise is just paying tribute to them by playing their song

  • That was a better opinion than ixxkillxliberals because unlike him you didn't have a cock in your mouth when you said it.

  • so now your a homophobic douchebag too eh? Do you have a problem with gay people. how would havin a cock in my mouth make my opinion any better or worse than anyone elses you closed minded retard. why dont you stop with the gay bashing and come up with an inslut that a grade 5 kid couldnt have thought of, and if you are in grade 5 i apologize for assuming your not.

  • I don't have a problem with you loving the cock but you don't have to tell everyone on Youtube that you're sucking one.

  • i dont see anyone else complaining. but ill forgive you to resorting to immature comments about it.

  • ian had a better vibe

  • it's old school punk mixed with a little new, pennywise fucking rocks!

  • lol they fucked up lyrics

  • In that case if someone is a punk,YOU think THEY suck, how about YOU get a life

  • is that as opposed to the average metal fan who believes music started with 'show no mercy' and ended with 'christ illusion'?

  • oh so i suppose all the bands on dischord records, owned and started by ian, have the same ideals and sound as minor threat? Ian never stated to press his views of sxe on anyon its a personal choice and even he says that. all the edge kids need to quit bieng fascists.FREEDOM is a punk ideal that we all agree with

check out beefeater, ian was on both albums and t

  • uh huh, i don't do drugs, drink, or smoke. and i'm a vegan.

but i don't really consider myself sXe.

the song "rock n' roll bullshit" by government issue states the point that i, and the true straight edge movement are trying to make. i think john stabb worded it better than ian mackaye ever did.

i agree with you about pennywise being another alternative "punk" mtv carbon copy band, and i would never be caught dead at a pennywise show.

  • Still you waste your energy to defend this band pennywise here (who were actually good until the unknown road) and the fools that support this band, which, ironically, just discovered their "Fuck Authority" Attitude very late in their career, after they have made their little skatepunk career.

  • Gee, look at all those drinking and smoking morons singing along to minor threat.

WTF? Don´t have enough songs of your own bands?

YOU ARE NOT WORTH IT, get edge or get lost bitches.

  • so if i drink i cant sing to minor threat?? bro wtf!!! pennywise fucking rules!!!!!

  • go fuck yourself

  • idiots like this. wow.

ian mackaye would anally rape you if he ever met you. straight edge is about the rebellion against sex, drugs, and rock n' roll.

if you want to be drug free and force your opinions on others, you could become a dare officer or something. then you could tell kids what to do and get paid for it.

  • I dont tell anyone what to do.I just point out how ridiculous this is. Soon-to-be college kids of the MTV generation singing to Minor Threat.

That is a rebellion against what, boredom?

And I dont take advice on "what SxE is" by non SxE people.

  • didn't minor Threat go on tour with social distortion. Why yes yes they did back in there hey day and didn't the lead singer of social d use to do shoot up all the time and get fucking wasted yes yes he did. I love minor threat for many reason but the biggest reason that they started sxe and they also said if your not sxe thats fine.

  • pw's covers are the shit,I'm sure Ian doesn't mind it so why should you?

  • i shoudn't dismiss their intentions?

they play at warped tour. enough said.

    they're on some commercial bullshit.

  • Have you ever actually heard an album of pennywise or are you just going off of what you see in this video, and they are on some commercial bullshit, they are just doing what they love, they could have stopped years ago after Jason died but they kept going for the fans, so before you talk your shit on Pennywise go listen to Unkown Road or Full Circle, and that is all....

  • yes i have, i tend to keep my musical spectrums broad.

and im not calling them out for being bad musicians, i'm just saying their ideals differ greatly from, or are possibly completely opposite of real punk.

  • so what, minor threat doesn't care. why should you. pennywise owns dude. listen to their music.

  • penneywise is a decent band but they shouldnt do a cover like this, its just one of those songs that you cant cover, for example circle one "im darby crash"shane west cant sing that (even tho he does) but it just seems odd.

  • they switched the verses

  • Calling Pennywise poseurs or pop is pure fuckin' demagogy. You don't like em' ? alright, but dismissing their intentions and tarnishing their reputation is some fucked up shit. Don't dismiss the legacy of one of the most influencial punk bands of the 90's like that, it's not right. Unknown Road is still one of my favorite punk albums ever. You can look in the dictionary for the big words...

  • carajow

  • dude this blows!

  • nah i dont like they killed it in my eyes

    sXe Steve sXe

  • I like pennywise but this is a bad cover. that metal style effect on the guitar and the lack of intensity in the vocals gets a thumbs down from me im afraid.

  • what "metal style effect"?

  • these guys arnt a pop punk band they have some heavy shit their older stuff is much better and for the guy going on about what theyre wearing who gives a fuck shut up fashion kid

  • Pennywise arent pop punk, they have actually done a betetr cover of this song trust me, but yer this one is a bit rubbish

  • aww they fucking killed it..

  • No, Sir - didn't like it!

  • For shame,horrible,horrible..please let hardcore rest in peace, enjoy you orignal recordings and cherish them, don't buy crap like this, thank you.

  • Of course, they're far more melodic than the bands that influenced them, but to call PW a "pop-punk" band is a bit ridiculous. They just took Black F;ag, Minor Threat and Circle Jerks and added their own flavor to the mix, which would later be called "skate punk" by some people. "Pop-punk" would more likely be associated with bands like Green Day, Blink-182, Good Charlotte, etc.

  • Lookit their dickies. And they're playing the House of Blues, fercripessakes!

  • Pennywise ARE a pop-punk band though!

  • AND...

They suck big barrels of ass.

    Like SO fucking bad.

  • you fucking tossers

#1 how the hell did your simple little brain conclude that PW is pop-punk?!

#2 their remake has a ton more energy than the original. im not bashing MT but i think PW did a great job of covering it. oh and they probably got fucked up with the versus cause the crowd started cheering for it so they played it on the fly and didnt have time to really think about every fucking word so fuck off

you should just be happy that a kickass band is even covering another kickass bands song

  • Pennywise a pop-punk band? man, why don't you go f*** your self!

  • Ian Mackaye is probably pissed that such a good group has ruined the song he created.

  • Ian Mackaye is probably very disappointed.

  • they mixed up the verses. thats what you get when a pop punk band tries to cover a hardcore song.

  • pop punk band? where?

  • listen to some minor threat then get back to me about that statment. these guys are a far cry from the real stuff.

  • Minor threat is the first song i ever learned, awesome song.

  • you all fucking suck minor threat is better then anything you all listin to and yes i like pennywise i also like minor threat so go fucking blow your mothers cock

  • Haha, he juxtaposed the lyrics.

  • why is this piece of shit band covering minor threat?

  • They are good.

  • why is this piece of shit insulting pennywise?

  • lookit that reaction when he is told he started with the second verse

  • pennywise should perform all covers.their originals all suck shit.

  • YOU SUCK ASS

  • you suck your daddys cock and tongue your moms ass!

  • go back to playing your guitar you loser

  • little bitch, little bitch, your mom i will pin. your moms pussy juices dripping off my chinny chin chin!

  • fuck! i saw them two days ago and they were alright i guess, but if they played that i woulda FLIPPPED! Minor Threat kicks major ass!

  • avoid operation ivy ??? are you retarded ???

  • too bad he started the song on the wrong verse..

  • awsome penny wise actualy coverd the song and didnt try to fucking change it like slayer

S 13 hardcore punk kid for life!

  • dumbshits didn't even remember the first verse. wow they really fucked this up pretty bad. they should stick to their own shit (which is o.k.)

  • Love minor threat!!!

  • Pennywise is alright at best... all their shit sounds the same... don't get me wrong, I love hearing "Bro Hymn" at a good party but I just don't know about this cover...

  • i don't like pennywise either, i just can't take them seriously. i love the energy of old school punk shows with people jumping on stage and all that. fucking awesome i wish someone would bring it back

  • falta pogo ahi man

  • naaaah hangman is not too punk, it's just that he just bought the soundtrack to the movie American Hardcore and has a lot fun doing some good ol' name-dropping on YouTube.

  • resiloence do it better!

  • i think thats a nice cover

  • Master

  • I love hitting the bag or getting into fights with this song in the background!
