  • @Lolacat1000-

You would stay in the back row. Your initial position at the time of service does not allow you to legally attack at the net, or block... So basically you are passing and defending and helping out on shanked balls that the setter is unable to get to... However you can hit a 10-ball if the setter does a set to the back row.. IF you jump to hit the ball, you must jump from behind the 10ft line(aka 3 meter line) if you are not used to doing this you may want to practice it before at

  • Rob, I can't thank you enough for taking the time to put this together, I appreciate your nerdiness! Just had our first tourney this weekend and had a horrible time remembering where to go and when. You make it seem so easy! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!

  • i still dont rlly get it... im an outside hitter.... or left side i think when am i by the setter and when am i in the back row to start... and when im in the back row do i move up to hit or stay in the back row

  • Nice demo, my advice. Change it to show backrow players starting at base(10ft line) on the serve rather than floating around about the 15ft line. Also illustrate that this is a 6-2 running a setter middle outside rotation. Nowadays any smart coach will run a setter outside middle rotation if they choose to run a 6-2.

  • OMG. I can't even thank you enough for posting this. I have my first club tournament in a few days and were doing a 6-2 and I barely understood it. I'm so prepared now!! You are a lifesaver! Aha :)

  • @awowwgirl16 - So happy it helped. The first few games are always a bit clumsy, but it becomes natural faster than you think. Good luck!

  • THANK YOU! This visual really helped me understand the 6-2 volleyball system!!!! Could you do another one for the 5-2???? I like how you took it from each zone and serve/recieve, that really helped :)

  • thanks! this is the best explanation of a 6-2 system out there.

  • @MrAerial - you got it! One of the key benefits of the 6-2 is that you have three front row hitters. If your hitters don't fake the opponent, you're missing the chance to freeze the defence. Of course the drawback is the hole left in the back row - but you will learn how to cheat the positioning so that your angles are covered.

  • Same as the comment below me.. I get it now :) It helps a lot with the moving back and forth off the net because I'm setter. THanks again :)

  • thanks, this really helped me. i'm on the 8th grade vb team, and we're using the 6-2 this season.

  • This helps a lot! Thanks!

  • Hi @gigeoxy - this was actually built in a Mac program called Keynote - you can't get the positions to move within PPT, unfortunately. And the file is massive - about 150 megs...

  • Hi @RobFromCanada - Do you have a ppt or something of those positions? Thanks!

  • Thank u so much! I'm in 7th grade and I was on the b team last year and now I'm on the a team and the problem with that is everyone else on the a team was on the a team last year too so I'm kinda the only one who doesn't know this and we did it today and I'm like what the heck is this!!

  • @horsegurl1212 - I hope this helps. Honestly, the first time will be tough, the second time easier, and the third time will be second nature. Good luck!

  • Awesome instructional! Thanks a bunch!
