  • Margaret Thatchers experiment with free markets in the 70's created a monster that they are still trying to get a hold of. It affected markets world wide and even affected our stock market.

  • The whole free market idea is pretty insane. It must be regulated. The problem is the regulations usually favor the corporations. So what is law should pretty much be illegal. Think about the idea of the modern corporation, an entity that has rights of human beings but doesn't really exist. It can't be put in jail, just fined, even if murder is crime. We're fucking nuts, lol.

  • The new deal was very important. In fact, it's what the "people" wanted at the time. They fought and died in many labor battles for it. The government originally did not want it. Sound familiar? It's unfortunately been eroded, but we need to get back to those ideals and continue to further them.

  • Palin is probably seen by her fellow faithful as

some sort of stewardess for the rapture.

The next person that seriously uses the phrase

end of days in my presence, may experience an end

    to their days.

But I do see your point.Just not how to do it.

  • Unfortunately - a lot of it comes down to how honest we're willing to be as a nation. The more truth we're willing to handle now, the better for us in the long run. I don't see a lot of progress in this direction, however. I see a lot of people clinging to outmoded conceptions of this nation and our purpose.

  • Honesty in this nation is near impossible now. The whole basis of our system is a lie and is accepted. It's whats called background assumptions. Hoards of flaws never questioned. Then we put band aids on the flaws. Scary to watch.

  • Loved the natural lighting in this vid. Felt like I was sitting outside having a cup of coffee listening to you. I wonder what folks on both sides will think/say when they realize this....

  • That's the big question, isn't it? I have to confess I don't have a clue - which honestly scares the shit out of me.

  • we feel the same way about the free market scam.

it's amazing how many Ron Paul internet economists have suddenly appeared because they know the words supply and demand.

  • Ron Paul's economic of free markets would be a freaking nightmare. I would not have supported him if he had a ghost of a chance of getting any legislation like that to his desk.

  • glad we agree on the free market scam

  • Paul is a believer in Austrian free market economics. I used google to find out what that was but it was way over my head. Corporations are too good at finding loopholes in the regulations they do have to trust them with no regulation.

  • I always enjoy your vids Zack. I always enjoy the wit you inject and your delivery.

My father lives off his retirement now, and a lot of that was tied up in certain stocks and things. He was a union electrician for 35 years. He lives comfortably, but he is by no means well off and I am trying to convince him to keep some additional cash on hand due to the impending storm.

We are all in this together brother. We need to cast off the chains (religion, party) that divide us and unite.

  • Yeah, I've shaken off as much of that funk I got into at the RNC as I think I'm going to, but I do feel like I've got enough equilibrium back that I'm myself again.

And I'm with you on the chains - there are unconventional thinkers in both parties (Paul, Kucinich, Feingold) and outside the parties (McKinney, Nader, Barr). I just want people to be for something.

Except anarchists, I suppose. Though I'd argue you have no chance @ anarchy without breaking the 2 party system 1st.

  • Love the parachute idea! I always have this similar fantasy about throwing all the big oil execs. into a giant tar pit. lol.

  • My Dad's got a temper on him, but mostly he hates cruelty, stupidity, and irresponsbility. Those are all ok things to be mad about, though he is going to give himself more heart trouble with it.

Oh well, consequence of having a heart, I suppose.

  • If anything positive comes of this, it'll be that this generation learns the mistakes it made with wasteful spending and borrowing like we did in the 20's and realize the dangers of having a centralized banking system.

Then we can tell our children and grandchildren how we saved every penny we made so we could provide them with everything they needed... just like when our grandparents did the same thing for us. Hopefully they won't squander and waste it like we did.

  • Agreed.

I was actually thinking of doing a vid about how the system doesn't even matter so much. I think most govt structures have some merits, but what they can't handle is inattention. The second you take your eye off govt, it will proceed to rob you blind. So, I'm tending to think nothing is more dangerous for any system than prosperity, because we're so busy enjoying our toys that we take our eye off the ball, and then some self-interested party grabs the controls.

  • Don Harrold made a great video that basically dealt with this whole subject... he talked about his Grandparents who lived during the great depression and how they always said that they would give his parents everything they didn't have (which in their opinion was having stable necessities, like food, shelter, etc etc) and his parents told him this, but since they already had everything thanks to their parents, the meaning was lost and "everything they didn't have" turned into unnecessary things.

  • NO ACCOUNTABILITY!!! YES! EXACTLY.

  • you reek of sweetness!!!

    i just love you zack.

you are such a great human being. :)

  • Well, if you're going to reek of something...

    Thanks, I'm actually blushing

  • Fantastic reply Zach :)

  • EMERGENCY, ANYONE READING THIS: watch this video, YouTube is censoring us!

    watch?v=rUn3gE4bncg

  • Yeah, the mass bannings are really scary. I had just found Rodneykingman and I really appreciated all the stuff he put up about the RNC protests. He had a great site. I liked Teabowbraine as well.

  • Thank you for the great commentary. I agree 100%. My big worry is if us as a society/nation are still made of the same mettle that lived through the Great Depression and WWII. So many people are so far removed from what true work is and where basic food comes from....I'm just left with doubts.

  • Well, I'm pretty sure we're about to find out. This will remain an academic question for, I'm guessing, no more than a couple of months.

  • The New Deal created a depression inside a depression which lasted until FDR was dead.

Wanting the corporate crooks in DC to further cartelize industries is the last thing we need. Asking the people who enabled this mess through the Federal Reserve to then fix it does not make any sense to me.

  • I forgot to add the government is broke anyways. It would create more debt.

  • I think a lot depends on what your priorities are. If I were god I would immediately end all foreign occupations & slash the CIA down to almost nothing, instantly cutting about 1/3 out of the budget. Before we take on any more debt, we s/ make sure it is in the pursuit of something forward looking. Investment in green technology & infrastructure would be 2 great places to start.

I can't help it, I tend to think of solutions in optimistic socialist terms. What would your solution look like?

  • My solutions would be to let the market/central banks crash and everyone who made bad investments suffer the consequences. Then rebuild. This system is poisonous any attempts to keep it afloat will only make the suffering worse and push it onto future generations. Let us feel the brunt and fix it now. The entire monetary, economic, and political system is violent and parasitic.

  • Blow the world up is a simple solution for simple minds. Im hopeful that the simple minds will fade and those with complex thoughts and answers prevail. God said so will never fix anything.

    Great vid.

  • Knowing I am not alone in feeling this way is the only thing that keeps me sane sometimes.

I had just typed a short novel into this thing, and decided a video reply to your video reply is in order :)

    I'll be back soon.

  • Awesome, look forward to it, man. And I agree, we need to keep talking to one another and giving one another reality checks. We sure as shit are not going to be able to get reality checks from the MSM. People are going to need emotional and intellectual lifelines to get through the coming crises.

  • great response to a great vid. i know my 401k has been beat to death. doesn't matter what fund i'm in, from low to high risk- it's a beating. it is crazy, no accountability is precisely right, and it's ironic how people suddenly want the gov to bail them out, but complained about a social benefit to someone that needed it. the neocons want to help their rich buddies, but forget about give a sandwich to a homeless guy. well said! we need an actual solution. peace

  • Glad you're not giving up the ship. Now is the time for sane people to point the way. The worse things get, the more likely people are to listen to those of us who have been saying for a while that things are getting bad.
