A gunsmith can "tune" the extractor to avoid the ejected casing from doing the melon strike. My series 70 gold cup was notorious for that till I had the extractor reshaped. It only happened w/ full power ammo, not with the flat nosed lead target rounds.  I can't believe your wife came shooting with you, after your "other video" with her, your .45, and the pack of firecrackers.... I laughed so hard at that video, I cried. Semper Fidelis, and stop being so mean to the woman..... LOL

Did she fire 185 gr.+P, or 230gr.+P, had to be! lol!!!! Judging from that muzzle blast!!! The shell flew back against the shooter, should be a rarity, but if it happens regulary with +P or this shot was some way far and away loading over SAAMI specs.for .45ACP, a lightweight frangible bullet , at a super inflated velocity like 1400fps for .45ACP which is ridiculous for any handgun chambered for it..Clearly your gun doesn't it like it and might have ejection/extraction problems with it.

It was ejected brass. Whether this happens or not depends on the angle of the cuts on the particular ejector in the gun.
