I'm currently trying to get this on dvd. It currently costs a small fortune! Thankfully, I still have the VHS until I can replace it. I remember watching this as a teen and couldn't get enough of it. The cast was absolutely stellar. Richard Mulligan, Robert Vaughn, William Holden, etc. Oh, and the incomparable Robert Preston was hysterical. Julie Andrews showing her "girls" was oh so scandalous, but if mine looked that great, I'd show them off, too. Fabulously funny movie.

In Sydney Australia only one store has a copy of this on VHS. There may be more but I don't think there would be many more. The copy I saw had so deteriorated that the entire screen was pink with the actors appearing as silhouettes. this is probably just as well because I am quite susceptible to death by laughter. Anyway good to actually see the jokers delivering the dialogue and please nobody take this down.

When I saw this film on television, it was rated "G", probably based on the opening title, by someone who hadn't watched the film. Instead, it is one of the funniest and most intelligent black comedies, a bitter satire of Hollywood. Maybe it requires more than one view to be appreciated.

I especially loved Larry Hagman, Robert Vaughn, Shelley Winters, Marisa Berenson. It's a slow starter, like someone wrote, but it's definitely rewarding. Fun and intelligent, not to be missed.

Hey Rosebud - give it another try and watch at least 30 minutes. This is one of the funnies movies ever made, but I agree it's a slow starter. S.O.B. is Blake Edwards brilliant revenge on Paramount Studios and his so-called friends who deserted him over the spectacular failure of Darling Lili (costing Paramount $20M) which also starred his wife, Julie Andrews. It's a very black comedy, but one of the greats.
