  • Really great videos I see from this guy. I find tai chi to be really fascinating to watch, and its really interesting to see how the movements can be analyzed and used for practical application, which I think most people would be oblivious to if someone didn't actually show it to them first.

  • The captions are all messed up.

0:32 should be "establish my root" not "establish my Wu".

0:56 should be "If I try and go against his force" not "if I triangle against his first".

  • There's two major motions here:

1)Footwork. You need to first re-establish your center balance before this technique can work.

2)The basic technique he is showing that you do all at once.

  • Good practical videos. Thank you.

  • tuck your chin in so that the attacker cannot punch your face and hit him in the nuts hard many times.

  • for self defence, a groin shot would be better, or even a take down.

  • To my knowledge Tai chi wasn't self defense but originally hand to hand combat...I always wondered about the some of the meanings of the name. I've heard it means "the God fist", or "the way of ultimate combat". Thank you for sharing

  • This technique requires strength. Can a little girl do this to a big man? I doubt it. Unless he's cut uaware.

  • i am verry uneducated but do you think it would work well instead of pushing but using a good kidney shot to?

  • Is this guy serious??? WTF? this guy knows ABSOLUTELY nothing about Taijquan applications

  • basically, traditional chinese martial arts strike the vital spots where in MMA sport that kind of strikes are banned.

if you think wing chun, kung fu, or tai qi are weak against MMA fighter, i dare you to try it outside the ring

  • this looks like it wouldn't work against a stronger opponent

  • This does not work. It would be better, to hit him in the groin.

  • stop commenting anything nonsense about this video because this guy shows excellent and expertise form about tai chi...

  • @volikoto I agree and unlike some I actually practice tai chi and after five years want to start learning the application, without losing the grace and benefits of Tai Chi Practice.

  • so what about this? I do mma and tai chi? I think few head explodes when they read this. HA!

  • @Brady2k10 Bringing any light back to the world of martial arts cant be too bad.... True?

  • funny lol, all forms of fighting are the same, all forms, its just the applications that change, one person might roll his opponeint off, another might just fore knuckle his eyes, but the known fact of directing ur body out of this attack is the same.

The properapplication of movement when being put in a submission is alway offense, everyone has the misconseption that any submission attempt is an attack but its not, its a defense. look below for rest

  • That technique works great!!!

If your opponent is at least 50 lb lighter than you, does not try to punch you, is blind, at least 80 years old, and does not wont to hurt you at all... an steps back from you on his own...

  • @azrael300 better then nothing

  • @azrael300 or maybe if the opponant thinks he knows everything than gets a big supprise... true? lol

  • some constructive critisism tuck you chin in the gap between his bod and your neck not allowing a choke and giving less effort to slip out but remember turn your neck not your bod when you tuck because its opposing the way you want to move

  • @japo8ify Tucking the chin... easier to break the neck that way espeacialy in the event that ur movements arent rooted correctly... true?

  • can't belive it.. and the best thing is that all these techniques can be perfected only if you understand the meaning of tai chi!!!

  • @MinatoThe4th We are born with the knowlege of self presurvation, the meaning of tai chi is the body moving as one solid motion, instant, thats all, dont add or subtract thats it, good luck lol... true?

  • dont tolk to much just show me the fight !

  • i think tht ALL martial arts r respectable in their own rights boxing and muay thai just as much as any wushu i believe tht everything is contextual nd so its impossible to analyse effectiveness reliably in da end cant we all just get along

  • @faisal277 We can, we just choose not too.... True?

  • actually tai chi is a level up from all the mma bravdo and the kitty karate mc dojos

Tai Chi is made for the real world and is made up of core concepts that work on every level of defence

  • @eddiedaskull very true!! please tell all the dumb asses that

  • @eddiedaskull I agree, but we can't forget the mma is a broader form unlike the ways we knew before. Long ago many people mixed and mixed and even now the thought of mixing all forms is tantilizing... true?

  • What if the person is choking and you can't reach the back but the stomache

  • @Roxas9169 therees more then just that technique

  • @bughippy always, but the end result is the same, just have to improove oneself in order to use any of them, true?

  • @Roxas9169 Honestly... submission is a defense, so use offense, crush the toes, pinch their neck, use two arms two pull a wrist into a judo throw, anything offensive will work, anything.... True?

  • hey everybody! I have an idea let's all stop being a bunch of dicks

  • @creestoefur sounds great lol but people cant do that lol

  • @Brady2k10 Nice one well said

  • Interesting use ! Thanks for that, It looks like" Fan Through The Back" in the Wudang Form .

  • This move only works with a one-handed headlock. For two-handed ones, just hit his groin, knees, stomach, ribs, etc.

  • A headlock is done with two hands locking the neck. I dont C this is working for those kind of attacks. So What Really works for this kind of lock is punching the groin while the other hand is getting over agressors shoulder to attack the face. If you do this he will let go.

  • I have been put in the situation of a one handed head lock and this move saved my life. lastly in my year in chen jia gou fajin was an important aspect of the practice as there are people who rush you and intend to hurt or kill you in order to take your possesions.

  • @oakl1234 Respect the art, and keep your life, its that simple... True?

  • This guy is full of shit!

  • Nobody does a head lock with out locking your hands together... Nobody. GJC

  • crap so much uneducated teachers selling kunf fu moves as taiji-hmmmmm

  • what happens if the guy has strength and balance and uses the forward force of EV to propel his own knee into the face of EV while his head is still lowered. EV goes unconscious probably with broken cheek bone. I have done this in my past when I enjoyed martial arts and fighting.

I have watched many of his videos now and they only have value if you are fighting against a drunk.

Tia Chi should be practiced for spiritual purposes because it has great ability to open chi lines and balance mind

  • You were to slow to react at his attack. And you can't learn the Tai Chi with 10 videos. In any martial there is a philosophy that you must understand before training and this man don't explain it.

  • @Krummablod Their is no philosophy, just ur body and the other persons, free ur mind of the illusion and u will see true. You believe that in order for something to work it needs an extensive explanation, if i handed u a gun and told u to point at someone an pull the trigger it will work would i need to give u anything else to understand its use?... True?

  • @TheiGODProject Lol, what if, what if , what if, through all my years training That phrase is always a variable, what if u went to knee him, what if he drop rolled into a gamora, but what if u used calpyat and went for an arm bar, but what if he, what if, what if. all martial arts formed through the centuries weren't based on what if, it was based on the end result... True?

  • @deathneo123 yes what if is as linear as What is.... what is happening is this guy is showing a technique that is efficient in limited circumstances. This is still linear... in the moment of the action experiencing any "experienced" Tai Chi practicioner would have no form... only reaction to the form of others. It is a formless practice that runs from a dee knowledge of the dualistic nature of Yin and Yang and how these forces balance nature and oneself. In any sense, any form is limiting.

  • This is an excellent application of Tai Chi. I have tried this and it works grate! And its so use full because this is an attack that is weary common.

  • Tai Chi vs MMA who wins?:P

  • MMA is a sport, designed to work against some one attacking you one at one in a ring, with shorts and gloves. Tai Chi is a self-defense system, designed to work against a real opponent on the street. Compare that!

  • What a completely uneducated comment

  • @shadowkrumping Dont be mean now lol.... True?

  • @donar88 If u can perfect its uses in as many situatiations as tai chi does than ur right, who knows you just might.... True?

  • @SelfDefenceExpert Exactly , i remember someone saying that MMA is actually a martial sport but the chinese martial arts and even japanese are martial "arts".

  • @SelfDefenceExpert MMA is a babied sport for martial arts, But, the knowledge that comes with learning the multiple arts and there most effective uses in its senerio perpairs the person for the streets, MMA... mixed MARTIAL ARTS, is just that, martial arts with rules, if i told u that with all ur knowledged that when we were to fight we could not kick each other, would u forget all u were taught cause of that fight?... True?

  • @SelfDefenceExpert Then is a sport, you train far more efficient. And you don't get a false confidence, because you have been training against ofher people. Not saying that studying a single technique should be left out

  • @SelfDefenceExpertWhen the US military developed their modern curriculum, they sought out mixed martial artists (i.e., sport fighters). The military has been testing all forms of empty hand combat and has come the conclusion that traditional martial arts are not effective in combat.

Google or call a military recruiter and ask about: Marine Martial Art Program, Army Combatives, and Army Ranger's Brazlian Jiu-jitsu combat league.

    Compare that!

  • @nomilkforsanta his comment has 19 likes, you have none. Therefore your argument is invalid. Anyway, to compare between martialart styles is impractical because each was developed on different base and enviroment; each of them has different application in different situation. Like Marine Martial Art requires lots of strength training along while Taichi was designed for the weaker to take on the ones with more brutal strength.

  • tai chi wins

  • chuck norris

  • @donar88 Both walk away with mental scars, both win... True?

  • what happens if he has 2 hands around ur head?

  • He has a video on that, look in the list.

  • When I made this video I had used this technique many times wiht good success. I then tried it with a very skilled martial artist friend and it did not work at all. So i would say it is a good technique against an average person but not so good with a skilled fighter. So I apologize for my lack of understanding and sharing a less than great technique.

  • @taichivermont It was a fine technique, its all about the end result, if u use it and it works.... True?

  • this is complete nonsense. expert village strikes again. That part of the form is a block and strike. block a strike and open up for rib strike. Why do people insist on making traditional arts try to do things they are not designed for. It damages the arts rep unfairly. Anyone with normal strength would be able to grip and resist that and yes usually a headlock is don with two hands.

  • @kjax2008 Traditional martial arts was formed on the field of battle with starving weakend bodies clawing at one another, the trick is to last the fight and still have strength, anyone that has the grip on it will lose strength quicker than the person who manages chi and gathers the effort for the move... true?

  • @deathneo123 What!! Dude where you there in the field of battle when this was developed? Stop making up nonsense. please do not reply unless you have actually been back in time to see this in your mythical field of battle.

  • just a question, how would the technique change if the agressor had his hands clasped together in a superman grip or was holding his wrist to strengthen the hold?

  • tai chi is powerful

  • this is wonderful-thank you sifu
