During the Middle Ages parts of Africa and Asia were extremely advanced while the Europeans were living in a backward, agricultural society, during the Middle or Dark Ages where there were endless witch hunts, warfare and barbarism. Ancient Rome and Greece both were influenced by the Ancient Societies of Asia.

No, not really. The comparative level and consistent level of technological development in European culture is not consistent at all. "Europe" is also a fairly new concept. The ancient Latin and Hellenic civilizations were southern and eastern self identifying, as in Africa and the Levant...the classical/preclassical Mediterranean world was as much a product of Levantine and African Hegemony as post Roman Europe is of Germanic and Slavic hegemony.
