First of all, its A Ford GT, not a GT40, that would be a race car from the sixties. Secondly, this is not a Mustang engine. The GT500 uses a completely different block. Also, one word, TORQUE. While the 4 litre, not 4.3 litre, V8 by BMW is impressive, it only produces 298 lb/ft of TQ, while the GT500 makes 480 lb/ft of TQ.

i'm not positive but I don't think the 5.4 was used in any mustangs prior to the current GT500

A 5.4 liter was used in the 2000 SVT Cobra R. Only 300 were made though. Quite the collectable. Either way, hp/lb and dollar for dollar the Ford GT blows away anything the Brits, Italians, or Japs can throw at us. Perhaps not straight line, but at the track it dominates.

"Your" R-34 (I doubt you own one, it's easy to claim it when you're just a little screen name on youtube) would get demolished around "The Ring" by a Ford GT and the GT-R is amazing but those numbers come from a pre-production version. The production version will weigh almost 500 lbs more than the GT, have only 475hp (and less torque), and come with smaller meats with less lateral grip (which will undoubtedly turn worse times at a twisty track like Nurburing). Keep dreaming though.

The motor in the ford GT was built specifically for the Ford GT it is an 5.4L Aluminum Dry Sump Engine. They were a very limited produciton run and the engine blocks are worth alot of money (7k+)

The only similarity between the engine in the GT and the engine in the Lightning pickup is the displacement. The engine in the GT is basically a race motor whereas the 5.4 in the truck is a regular 5.4 with a blower on it. They are nothing alike.
