Long hair increases your 'sixth sense' according to studies conducted by the US military on Native American trackers who were picked out and recruited in the 60s and 70s
There are also inner-tribal clan characteristics which some traditional american indians hold tight too. Good explanation, I keep mine short its too hot for long hair lol
...I don't cut my hair off even though I am white mixed with native because I inherited the BIG native hair that is so thick I have to leave it long....
My hair use to be to my butt, but I cut it when my uncle died, I am traditonal and my hair is long(past my armpits) and I love my people and culter:) Tsalagi!
I am 64, Osage/Pawnee, I grow mine long to donate to Locks for Love. It does make me feel somewhat closer to my grandfather who had long hair. Question: Why are Indians so offended by matters of no importance? Ryan Redcorn of the Osage tribe down the road is appearing before Congress this week to explain the outrage in "Indian Country" over the operation to kill bin Laden being called Geronimo. Who cares, are they just trying to draw attention?
@PawneeBill47 Cool!! I donate to Locks for Love also. Small world. ABC,CBS,NBC,FOX and the rest will only show things like the operation being called "Geronimo." A gripe about that MAY get on the air. What is important would cost an advertiser money. You can bet that will never be reported on. Who knows who really owns these companies today.
@GSfreebooks I just think there are far more important things to worry about. Rampant alcoholism and drub addiction on the rez all over the country. 40%-80% unemployment, seriosuly who cares anout a mission to take out the worlld's worst man?
