I don't think this video goes far enough. I think any two individuals regardless of age, family relation, or even species should be allowed to get married if they true love each other. I think a father should be allowed to marry his daughter (or his son), as long as they truly love each other. I think a woman should be able to marry her cat, as long as it's clear they love each other. I also think polygamy should be legalized, since it's obviously possible to love more than one person at once.

I do not believe that people are born gay, nor do I think the attraction berween two people of the same gender constitutes love. It is rather a form of manipulation and usery.
Let me ask you this, if people aren't born gay. Then how are people gay? Are they all manipulation and selfish vultures? I have to many friends who would disagree with you. That they consider themselves gay since birth. Why is it not possible for two people of the same gender to romantically love each other? Two people of different races or religions are able to love each other, why not two people of the same gender?
It's the age-old argument of whether Nature or Nurture is responsible for dictating human behavior. There are no identified biological factors to support the idea that people are gay from birth, so that rules out "gay from birth." Though I believe there are character traits that would predispose someone to homosexuality, I think same-sex attractions result from the effects of the experiences of the child & how s/he interprets those experiences-- bonding w/ people of the same sex for example.
Furthermore, I do not think that homosexuals are "manipulative & selfish vultures." I think anyone who seeks romantic love from a person of the same gender is confused & emotionally damaged. The solution, therefore, is not to add to that confusion by entering a gay relationship. I think it would be more beneficial to seek to understand what thought processes have led to those feelings & to attempt to reason through any distorted thoughts.

Let's not forget that homosexuality was an identified mental disorder for many years, and it was classified as an anomaly by evolutionists until very recently. Pursuing homosexual relationships is still termed an "alternative lifestyle," but that's not enough-- homosexuals want to be accepted as well as celebrated for their lifestyle choices. If the psychologist is worth her salt, she would not deign to judge her patient in the first place. The ideal psychologist-patient interaction would be to enable the patient to deduce that for himself-- and that is that he does not need sex to be healthy, happy, or whole.

I don't think this video goes far enough. I think any two individuals regardless of age, family relation, or even species should be allowed to get married if they true love each other. I think a father should be allowed to marry his daughter (or his son), as long as they truly love each other. I think a woman should be able to marry her cat, as long as it's clear they love each other. I also think polygamy should be legalized, since it's obviously possible to love more than one person at once.

It's the age-old argument of whether Nature or Nurture is responsible for dictating human behavior. There are no identified biological factors to support the idea that people are gay from birth, so that rules out "gay from birth." Though I believe there are character traits that would predispose someone to homosexuality, I think same-sex attractions result from the effects of the experiences of the child & how s/he interprets those experiences-- bonding w/ people of the same sex for example.

The solution, therefore, is not to add to that confusion by entering a gay relationship. Let's not forget that homosexuality was an identified mental disorder for many years, and it was classified as an anomaly by evolutionists until very recently. Any attempts to normalize homosexuality have been a result of the liberal social climate that has been arising over the past few decades. I never used the term "normal;"-- that was another poster. Pursuing homosexual relationships is still termed an "alternative lifestyle," but that's not enough-- homosexuals want to be accepted as well as celebrated for their lifestyle choices. I make poor, uninformed, knee-jerk choices every day, but I don't celebrate them.
I'm not only arguing for "traditional" marriage, but I'm also arguing for the underlying principles that govern it, not simply based on tradition, but on natural design.

Given the disadvantages associated with being gay, I see little reason why anyone would "choose" to be so: why not take seriously the testimony of (the many) who state they have always been attracted to men? And what harm does being gay do?

But almost all adults have a strong desire to express themselves sexually, and that's perfectly normal and natural. So if someone is gay, where is the problem with them having sex? Lots of psychologists have precisely no problem with that.

If the psychologist is worth her salt, she would not deign to judge her patient in the first place. The ideal psychologist-patient interaction would be to enable the patient to deduce that for himself-- and that is that he does not need sex to be healthy, happy, or whole.

If you want to perpetuate the nonsense that a desire for sex, gay or straight, is not perfectly natural and normal, then that's your business. Certainly people don't need it all the time. But the idea that most people can do (or indeed should do) without some form of sexual expression for the whole of their lives is just drivel. The dogma hasn't served the Catholic Church well, and it won't serve others well either.

In addition, I am no proponent of evolution. But it seems to me that homosexuality flies in the face of the evolutionary theory-- if homosexuality is innate, then it should've evolved out as it serves no functional purpose.
I think there are many factors that lead a person to be homosexual-- as I said before, everything has a cause. And I believe that there may be character traits that would predispose a person to being gay, but that experiences actually are the cause.

Precisely the reverse could well be true: because being gay *hasn't* been evolved out, it proves it has a useful function.
As for the rest, well that's your belief, but it seems mainly based on what you'd like to be true - probably because being gay makes you feel uncomfortable, or doesn't fit neatly into your world view. Perhaps you should start accepting that others could be different from you?

If the reverse is true, then you have based it on the assumption that Darwinian evolution is in effect.
As for the rest- it's not my belief; it's foundational psychological understanding. My worldview is anything but neat, but it is integrated, meaningful, & sensible.

The idea that Darwinian evolution is likely to be true is based on plenty of evidence. It's not a mere "assumption".
As for the rest you originally compared being gay to "making a poor choice". That's the issue here: your normative deductions from how you think people become gay. Obviously why exactly someone becomes gay is complicated, and not fully established. But that should make you pause about preaching to gays about how to live their lives.

The "evidence" to support the effectuation of evolution is not evidence at all... it is someone's interpretation of the evidence.
I'm preaching to no one, nor do I think that "being gay" is comparatively "making a poor choice." That's your phrasing. I think those who havesame sex attractions should be offered the alternative to gay sex, but all that's being preached on this page is hedonism and you will accept it or be damned.

As is the case with many accepted scientific theories - there isn't a problem here unless you are an extreme positivist, or being deliberately difficult. That's why Darwinism is accepted by the vast majority of scientists.
The rest is drivel: you can't offer gay people an "alternative" to gay sex, other than no sex. True you didn't *state* that being gay is a "making a poor choice" - just implied it instead. Not everyone on here is advocating "hedonism" - gay sex is not necessarily hedonistic.
