I'm putting together a crew for my first short film and I'm looking for a Red Cam to use, and someone who knows how to use it. I was lucky enough to be in a Cannes film last year and a Red Cam was used. I liked the look, and the director told me of the virtues of the Cam. I'm located in Long Beach, CA. to be honest..i dont see what is so great about the red camera..I'm not being a douche bag..i mean for $17,000 i figured it would look better than it did. just my opinion.

Putting Red Camera footage onto YouTube doesn't do it any sort of justice - even in "high" quality mode. Vimeo is much better.

Still, it looks good.

I assume you are talking about high quality mode on youtube. thats far far far from hd 1080, let alone 4k, which is a little more than 4 times that. But agreed, it looks like a moving picture DSLR.

i try many cam with my life but this one its make different am in my way to order the cam to make my won film in Hollywood soon .... but for the cam it will takes a 8 month anyway i have to wait am doing now Arab series comic and good luck for all

Film is on the operating table as we speak. The lead surgeon has informed us that it "does not look good", and that "we are doing all we can".

Film is dieing, Ultra HD is here and will not tolerate second rate (film) visuals any longer.

Red is THE camera at the moment, now lets see how long it takes for the big, fat and dumb competitors - JVC, Panasonic, and Sony to catch up in the professional market place.

hey, u forgot lotsa young filmmakers dont have the money to afford the Red, quality is very important yes, but as filmmaker ur film in general is most important, not the quality of ur image

Agreed, absolutely. Screw the competitors, the only people that are going to come marginally close are the new DSLRs. I'm sure they will come out with something but only HD I'm sure. The real competition is Arri themselves. The real camera makers. Their D-21 is similar, but is only available to rent (its also $120,000.)

Young film makers MIGHT be able to afford a red, but the new canon for sure. That is another camera to die for.

This was only a test of Red Cam. However after this test, I put in a downpayment for the Cam. Will be in my hands by December...

@sdamneslein hi, did you get your camera, in red one camera i am very confued about the shots that i see here some look like cinema (film) some look like HD video . how do you get the film movie look from this camera. that everyone is talking about will it do if you just put it on 24fps?
